The estim.tion and analysis of road traffic represent the prelim.nary steps towards satisfying the current needs for sm.oth,safe,and green ***,effective traffic m.nitoring is an essential topic alongside the planning of sustainable transportation system. and the developm.nt of new traffic m.nagem.nt *** contrast to classical traffic detection solutions,this study investigates the correlation between travelers'social activities and road *** s's prim.ry goal is to investigate the presence of the relationship between social activity and road traffic,which m.ght allow an infrastructure-independent traffic m.nitoring technique as ***'s general activities at Point of Interest(POI)locations(m.asured as occupancy param.ter)are correlated with traffic data so that,finally,proper proxys can be defined for link-level average traffic speed *** m.thod is tested and evaluated using real-world traffic and POI occupancy data from.Budapest(District XI.).The results of the correlation investigation justify an indirect relationship between activity at POIs and road traffic,which holds prom.se for future practical applicability.

An outdoor experim.nt was set up to investigate the effects of used lubricating oil （5 L/m.2） on Aegiceras corniculatum.Blanco. and Avicennia m.rina （Forsk） Vierh., two salt-excreting m.ngroves. A. m.rina was m.re sensitive to used lubricating oil than A. corniculatum.and canopy-oiling resulted in m.re direct physical dam.ge and stronger lethal effects than base-oiling. When treated with canopy-oiling, half of A. corniculatum.plants survived for the whole treatm.nt tim. （90 d）; but, for A. m.rina, high m.rtality （83%） resulted from.canopy-oiling within 3 weeks and no plants survived for 80 d. Base-oiling had no lethal effects on A. corniculatum.plants even at the term.nation of this experim.nt, but 83% of A. m.rina plants died 80 d after treatm.nt. Forty days after canopyoiling, 93% ofA. corniculatum.leaves fell and no live leaves rem.ined on A. m.rina plants. By the end of the experim.nt, base-oiling treatm.nt resulted in about 45% ofA. corniculatum.leaves falling, while all A. m.r/na leaves and buds were burned to die. Lubricating oil resulted in physiological dam.ge to A. corniculatum.leaves, including decreases in chlorophyll and carotenoid contents, nitrate reductase, peroxidase and superoxide dism.tase activities, and increases in m.lonaldehyde contents. For both species, oil pollution significantly reduced leaf, root, and total biom.ss, but did not significantly affect stem.biom.ss. Oil pollution resulted in dam.ge to the xylem.vessels of fine roots but not to those of m.diate roots.

This article sum.arizes and analyzes the Children & Youth Forum.and youth participation in the process during and leading up to the Third UN World Conference on Disaster risk reduction(WCDrr) in2015. An organizing com.ittee consisting of international students and young professionals brought together around200 young professionals and students from.around the globe to exchange ideas and knowledge on reducing disaster risk, building resilient com.unities, and advocating for the inclusion of youth priorities within the Sendai Fram.work for Disaster risk reduction 2015–2030(SFDrr). The knowledge exchange during the Forum.was structured around a Toolbox for resilience that connected to the SFDrr section on Priorities for Action. This article presents the outcom.s of these young people’s participation in the disaster risk reduction capacity building eventsand policy-m.king, as well as the follow-up actions envisioned by the young participants of the Forum. The voices of the younger generation were heard in the SFDrr and young people are ready to expand their actions for the fram.work’s effective im.lem.ntation. Young people call on technical experts, donors, NGOs, agencies, governm.nts, and academ.a to partner with them.on this journey to create a m.re resilient tom.rrow together.

Generation of construction wastes constitutes a m.jor im.act to the environm.nt. Studies have been directed toward reducing wastes of the various construction processes. However, contractors in Hong Kong are rather conservative and lack m.tivation to develop new technology for waste m.nim.zation. This paper exam.nes the benefits of using prefabrication in reducing m.terial wastage levels for som. traditional in-situ trades such as concreting, rebar fixing, bricklaying, drywall, plastering, screeding and tiling in Hong Kong. By m.asuring thirty construction projects, it is been found that waste levels of all m.jor construction trades can be effectively reduced. This is particularly significant in the trade of plastering where 100% saving can be achieved after adopting prefabrication. The standardized design of the building can also be useful in the adoption of prefabrication for private housing projects.

This paper presents a prelim.nary assessm.nt of the hydrogeological characteristics of a karst m.untainous catchm.nt, the Suoi m.oi river catchm.nt, in the northwest of Vietnam. The catchm.nt is located at 600–700 m.a.s.l. and covers an area of 284 km. Exposed lim.stone occupies 32% of the total catchm.nt area. Various types of assessm.nts have been carried out, including geological and hydrogeological field surveys, cave surveys, dye-tracer tests, m.teorological and surface water m.nitoring. Geological studies and cave surveys have identified the m.st im.ortant active cave/conduit system. within the catchm.nt. Although these data are essential, they are insufficient to m.ke a com.rehensive appraisal of the hydrologic nature of the catchm.nt under interest. An attem.t was m.de to calculate a global water balance of the catchm.nt, based on short-term.(15 m.nths) m.teorological and stream.low records. The results show that, despite the existence of a num.er of substantial cavern conduit system., the groundwater system.of the catchm.nt is governed by the fracture/fissure m.trix. The cavern conduit system. only collect groundwater from.the adjacent fracture m.trix and/or connect topographically isolated surface watercourses. The groundwater storage of the cavern conduit system. appears to be regionally insignificant in com.arison with the governed fracture m.trix groundwater system.

Green spaces in urban and suburban areas play a significant role in helping settlem.nts adapt to clim.te *** design,quantity,quality,and location of green spaces influence their ability to provide benefits to people and enhance the quality of *** green spaces,if adequately m.naged,can enhance the environm.ntal *** study,based on a questionnaire survey and the m.tivation/Attitude-Driven Behaviour(m.DB)m.del,investigated how the attitudes and behaviours of residents shape private green spaces in 12 settlem.nts of the 4 city regions(Cluj region,Nitra region,Kecskem.t region,and Györ region)in 3 Central European countries(Hungary,Slovakia,and rom.nia).The results showed that beautiful natural environm.nt,abundance of green spaces,beautiful settlem.nt and streetscape,and village atm.sphere were m.ntioned m.st often,along with good quality of life,with a m.ntion rate of over 70.00%in the four city *** also played a significant role in the m.nagem.nt of green spaces,showing that convenience factors(less work,less waste,and cheaper m.nagem.nt)m.re im.ortant for those who live in settlem.nts nearer to the *** im.ortance of biodiversity and ecology was positively correlated with socio-econom.c status such as education and financial ***,the im.ortance of the utility of green spaces was less prevalent am.ng original villagers and ***,we found that the percentage of green spaces of settlers is slightly higher than that of original *** results of factor analysis revealed that socio-econom.c status can influence respondents’attitudes towards green *** suggests to increase ecological awareness of residents,especially for new settlers,and prom.te good m.nagem.nt techniques for green *** study can im.rove the awareness of urban planners about the im.ortance of green spaces in suburban areas.
