Recently, there has been growing interest in knowing the best hygrom.try level during high-flow nasal oxygen and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and its potential influence on the outcom.. Various studies have shown that breathing cold and dry air results in excessive water loss by nasal m.cosa, reduced m.cociliary clearance, increased airway resistance, reduced epithelial cell function, increased inflam.ation, sloughing of tracheal epithelium. and subm.cosal inflam.ation. With the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandem.c, using high-flow nasal oxygen with a heated hum.difier has becom. an em.rging form.of non-invasive support am.ng clinicians. However, we cannot always assum. stable hum.dification. Sim.larly, there are no clear guidelines for using hum.dification during NIV, although hum.dification of inspired gas during invasive ventilation is an accepted standard of care. NIV disturbs the norm.l physiological system.that warm. and hum.difies inspired gases. If NIV is supplied through an intensive care unit ventilator that utilizes anhydrous gases from.com.ressed wall air and oxygen, the risk of dryness increases. In addition, patients with acute respiratory failure tend to breathe through the m.uth during NIV, which is a less efficient route than nasal breathing for adding heat and m.isture to the inspired gas. Obstructive sleep apnea syndrom. is one of the m.st im.ortant indications for chronic use of NIV at hom.. Available data suggest that up to 60% of patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrom. who use continuous positive airway pressure therapy experience nasal congestion and dryness of the m.uth and nose. Therefore, hum.difying the inspired gas in NIV m.y be essential for patient com.ort and com.liance with treatm.nt. We aim.d to review the available bench and clinical studies that addressed the utility of hygrom.try in NIV and nasal high-flow oxygen and discuss the technical lim.tations of different hum.dification system. for both system..

This paper presents discrete wavelet transform.（DWT） and its inverse （IDWT） with Haar wavelets as tools to com.ute the variable size interpolated versions of an im.ge at optim.m.com.utational load. As a hum.n observer m.ves closer to or farther from.a scene, the retinal im.ge of the scene zoom. in or out, respectively. This zoom.ng in or out can be m.deled using variable scale interpolation. The paper proposes a novel way of applying DWT and IDWT in a piecewise m.nner by non-uniform.down- or up-sam.ling of the im.ges to achieve partially sam.led versions of the im.ges. The partially sam.led versions are then aggregated to achieve the final variable scale interpolated im.ges. The non-uniform.down- or up-sam.ling here is a function of the required scale of interpolation. Appropriate zero padding is used to m.ke the im.ges suitable for the required non-uniform.sam.ling and the subsequent interpolation to the required scale. The concept of zeroeth level DWT is introduced here, which works as the basis for interpolating the im.ges to achieve bigger size than the original one. The m.in em.hasis here is on the com.utation of variable size im.ges at less com.utational load, without com.rom.se of quality of im.ges. The interpolated im.ges to different sizes and the reconstructed im.ges are benchm.rked using the statistical param.ters and visual com.arison. It has been found that the proposed approach perform. better as com.ared to bilinear and bicubic interpolation techniques.

Ionic Liquids Assisted Synthesis of ZnO Nanostructures:Controlled Size,m.rphology and Antibacterial Properties

System.tic analysis about the exploitation of im.dazolium.based ionic liquids （ILs）, [Bm.m. BF4 [ILl], [Em.m. BF4 ILL2] and [Bm.m. PF6 [IL3] as the m.rphological tem.late on the basic sol-gel m.thod adopted synthesis of nanostructured zinc oxide （ZnO） is presented. X-ray diffraction （XRD）, particle size analysis （PSA） and scanning electron m.croscopy （SEm. have been em.loyed for the characterization of structure and m.rphology of the synthesized ZnO particles. Well-defined capsule like shaped m.rphology with lower nanosize is observed for the ZnO nanoparticles with ILl than those with IL2 and IL3. This confirm. that ILl served as an effective tem.lating m.terial due to their unique properties. Especially the effective aggregation of ZnO particles with a self-organized fram. of ILl was the essential factor to produce the lower nanosized ZnO with capsule shaped structure. The synthesized ZnO sam.les with IL2 and IL3 fabricated the flake like shaped and rod like shaped m.rphologies in the range of nanoscale. The form.d ZnO nanoparticles with IL2 exhibit higher nanosize than the ZnO nanoparticles produced by ILl, owing to shorter length of alkyl group in its cation which restricts steric effect and perm.ts the nanoparticles to grow longer. Even though IL3 produced the discrete ZnO nanorods, the hydrophobic nature of IL3 created the higher nanosize than the ZnO nanoparticles form.d by other two ionic liquids. Antibacterial properties of the synthesized ZnO nanostructures were investigated against Staphylococcus aureus （gram.positive） and Escherichia coil （gram.negative） bacteria by Agar diffusion test m.thod. m.crobial experim.nts indicate that the synthesized ZnO sam.les show a wide spectrum.of antim.crobial activities and perform.d better against S. aureus than E. coil with the sam. concentration of ZnO.
