The potential of di-(m.Form.lphenol)-1,2-cyclohexandiim.ne as an environm.ntally friendly corrosion inhibitor for steel was investigated in 1 m.l/L HCl using potentiodynam.c polarization, electrochem.cal im.edance spectroscopy and chronoam.erom.try m.asurem.nts. All electrochem.cal m.asurem.nts suggest that this com.ound is an excellent corrosion inhibitor for m.ld steel and the inhibition efficiency increases with the increase in inhibitor concentration. The effect of tem.erature on the corrosion behavior of m.ld steel with the addition of the Schiff base was studied in the tem.erature range from.25 °C to 65 °C. It is found that the adsorption of this inhibitor follows the Langm.ir adsorption isotherm.. The value of activation energy and the therm.dynam.c param.ters such as ΔHads, ΔSads, Kads and ΔGads were calculated by the corrosion currents at different tem.eratures using the adsorption isotherm. The m.rphology of m.ld steel surface in the absence and presence of inhibitor was exam.ned by scanning electron m.croscopy(SEm. im.ges.

The research on the use of fiber sensors based on long-period fiber gratings inscribed by CO2 laser m.d-infrared radiation has increased in the last years. In this paper, a set of analytical expressions are used to m.del the interaction between laser radiation and an optical fiber and to determ.ne the resulting refractive index change. Therm.l and residual stress analysis is exem.lified for a standard single m.de fiber, dem.nstrating the capability of these m.dels to point out the necessary param.ters to achieve proper optical fiber devices based on long period fiber gratings. Experim.ntal results are also presented.

Pregnancy is a com.lex physiological process involving several interconnected system.. m.ny researchers were concerned that the form.tion of a fetus with different genetic com.onents m.y contradict the norm.l state of im.unity, which attem.ts to reject and fight foreign bodies. This piqued the interest of biologists and im.unologists, who set out to discover the im.une system.s com.osition and m.de of response in the uterus. According to several studies, natural killer (NK) cells are present in a significant percentage that differs from.what is seen in peripheral blood. As a result, several scientific studies have been conducted on uterine NK cells, investigating their types, characteristics, receptors, secretions, and interactions with the surrounding environm.nt. Research has also indicated the capacity of uterine NK cells to strike a balance between eradicating uterine infections and effectively contributing to different phases of pregnancy. Various studies have shown that NK cell activity is intim.tely related to the success or failure of pregnancy. In this review, we describe the uterine NK cell subtypes;decidual (dNK) cells and endom.trial NK cells (eNK) cells and their im.ortant role during different phases of pregnancy.

Background: The discovery of a lethal or disabling m.lform.tion requires a thoughtful decision in the event of a term.nation of pregnancy on m.dical grounds. The term.nation of pregnancy can be selective in the case of m.ltiple pregnancies if a twin is suffering from.a serious condition. Objective: To report a case of anencephaly on a twin pregnancy and conduct a review of literature. Case: This is a 30-year-old wom.n carrying a pregnancy obtained after the third attem.t at in vitro fertilization (IVF) with transfer of two em.ryos. No risk factor was found on this pregnancy except for the twinning. The diagnosis was m.de at 14 weeks +1 day during first term.ultrasound, which discovered an on-going bi-chorial bi-am.iotic twin pregnancy, with twin B (TB) carrying a defect on his head. A selective interruption was perform.d on TB at 16 weeks by cordonal injection with potassium.chloride. The pregnancy went on without incident and with spontaneous vaginal delivery of the second twin at 39 weeks of pregnancy. Despite the selective term.nation, the pregnancy went on without any com.lication. Conclusion: Anencephaly on twin pregnancy is a rare occurrence. In a bichorial pregnancy, a selective feticide can im.rove the gestational age at birth.

Beijing is facing a huge challenge to m.nage the growth of its built-up area whilst also retaining both productive arable land and land for conservation purposes in order to sim.ltaneously realize the three aim. of econom.c developm.nt,protecting arable land and generating environm.ntal im.rovem.nts. m.anwhile,London,as a world city with m.re than 200 years of industrialization and urbanization,has accum.lated rich theoretical and practical experiences for land use planning in a m.jor urban area,such as the creation of Garden Cities,a designated Green Belt and New Towns. This paper firstly analyzes the m.in characteristics of the spatial distribution of the built-up area,arable land and conservation land in Beijing. Then,som. of the key aspects of urban fringe planning in the London region are exam.ned. Lastly,several im.lications from.the experience of London are provided with respect to land-use planning for Beijing,concentrating on a re-appraisal of land-use functions around Beijing,m.asures to im.rove the green belt,the developm.nt of sm.ll towns to house rural-urban m.grants and urban overspill,and effective im.lem.ntation of land-use planning.

The K-m.ans m.thod is one of the m.st widely used clustering m.thods and has been im.lem.nted in m.ny fields of science and technology. One of the m.jor problem. of the k-m.ans algorithm.is that it m.y produce em.ty clusters depending on initial center vectors. Genetic Algorithm. (GAs) are adaptive heuristic search algorithm.based on the evolutionary principles of natural selection and genetics. This paper presents a hybrid version of the k-m.ans algorithm.with GAs that efficiently elim.nates this em.ty cluster problem. Results of sim.lation experim.nts using several data sets prove our claim.

This study covers som. physical, chem.cal, and bacteriological param.ters needed to be tested for drinking water quality. The purpose of the research is to assess and com.are the quality of five different brands of sachet water m.rketed in Bo city and to give relevant recom.endation(s) were possible. The results obtained were com.ared to the standard set for each param.ter by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the m.xim.m.contam.nant level set by the United State Environm.nt Protection Agency (USEPA). Five brands of sachets water were selected in Bo city and their physical and chem.cal param.ters were evaluated in the Njala University Quality Control Laboratory (NUQCL), and their bacteriological evaluation was done in the Sierra Rutile laboratory. The physical param.ters tested for were in accordance with the standards set by the WHO with the exception of the tem.eratures for each brand which were above the WHO standard. The pH of all the sachets water was in the acidic range, below the standard range and the m.xim.m.contam.nant level set by the WHO and USEPA respectively. This affected the alkalinity of all the sachets water to be zero (0). None of the sachets water com.letely m.t the WHO standard and the USEPA m.xim.m.contam.nant level for all the param.ters tested for in this research. In this regard, none of the sachets water is com.letely recom.ended for drinking.

Nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and Iron (Fe) are im.ortant nutrients for phytoplankton, and they are the key lim.ting nutrients in m.ny m.rine system.. In the present study, growth and protein expression of m.rine phytoplankton Prym.esium.parvum.under different nitrate, phosphate and iron conditions were investigated in order to evaluate whether proteins and their expression level could be used as biom.rkers of N, P, and Fe conditions in aquatic system.. The growth of P. parvum.increased with the increase of nitrate, phosphate and iron concentrations in the culture m.dium. Protein expression levels also differed significantly (p m.dium. The expression level of an 83 kDa protein at 0 and 5 μm.nitrate treatm.nts differed significantly (p m.those at 20, 30, 50 and 100 μm.nitrate treatm.nts, indicating the expression levels of this protein as a biom.rker of N status in the culture m.dium. A 121 kDa protein was up-regulated at phosphate stress conditions ([P] ≤ 1.0 μm., while this protein was not expressed at phosphate replete conditions ([P] ≥ 5 μm.. Therefore, the expression of 121 kDa protein in P. parvum.is indicative of phosphate deplete condition in aquatic system.. The expression level of a 42 kDa was significantly higher (p m. than Fe-replete conditions ([Fe] ≥ 0.1 μm.. In addition, a new protein of 103 kDa was only expressed under Fe-deplete condition ([Fe] = 0.01 μm.. Therefore, the 42 and 103 kDa proteins can be used as a biom.rker of Fe-lim.tation condition of aquatic system.. However, further studies (two dim.nsional gel electrophoresis and m.ss spectrom.try) are needed to identify and characterize these proteins in P. parvum.

The m.nganese doped zinc sulfide nanoparticles of the cubic zinc blende structure with the average crystallite size of about 3.56 nm.were synthesized using a coprecipitation m.thod using Thioglycolic Acid as an external capping agent for surface m.dification. The ZnS:m.2+ nanoparticles of diam.ter 3.56 nm.were m.nufactured through using inexpensive precursors in an efficient and eco-friendly way. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron m.croscopy (SEm. and Fourier Transform.Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy are used to exam.ne the structure, m.rphology and chem.cal com.osition of the nanoparticles. The antim.crobial activity of (ZnS:m.2+) nanocrystals was investigated by m.asuring the diam.ter of inhibition zone using well diffusion m.chanism.versus two various bacterial strains. The technique of m.croorganism.inactivation was considered as sorts-dependent. Bacillus subtilis showed the largest antibacterial sensitivity (35 m.) to ZnS: m.2+ nanoparticles at a concentration (50 m.) whereas Escherichia coli offered m.xim.m.zone of inhibition (20 m.) at the sam. concentration. In this study, the results indicated that ZnS:m.2+ nanoparticles were found to have significant antibacterial activity against Gram.negative (E. coli) and Gram.positive (Bacillus subtilis) bacteria.
