The effect of chem.cal r.action on fr.e convection heat and m.ss tr.nsfer.for.a non-Newtonian power.law fluid over.a ver.ical flat plate em.edded in a fluid-satur.ted por.us m.dium.has been studied in the pr.sence of the yield str.ss and the Sor.t effect. The gover.ing boundar. layer.equations and boundar. conditions ar. cast into a dim.n- sionless for.0}by sim.lar.ty tr.nsfor.0}tions, and the r.sulting system.of equations is solved by a finite differ.nce m.thod. The r.sults ar. pr.Sented and discussed for.concentr.tion pr.files, as well as the Nusselt num.er.and the Sher.ood num.er.for.var.ous values of the par.m.ter., which gover. the pr.blem. The r.sults obtained show that the flow field is influenced appr.ciably by the pr.sence of the chem.cal r.action par.m.ter.γ the or.er.*** chem.cal r.action par.m.ter.m. the Sor.t num.er.St, the buoyancy r.tio N, the Lewis num.er.Le, and the dim.nsionless r.eological par.m.ter.Ω.

The par.ial differ.ntial system.gover.ing the pr.blem.is tr.nsfor.0}d into an or.inar. system.via a usual sim.lar.ty tr.nsfor.0}tion. The num.r. ical solutions of the r.sulting or.inar. system.ar. obtained. These solutions depend on the power.law index n, Lewis num.er.Le, buoyancy-r.tio num.er.Nr. Br.wnian m.tion num.er.Nb, and ther.0}phor.sis num.er.Nt. For.var.ous values of n and Le, the effects of the influence par.m.ter. on the fluid behavior.as well as the r.duced Nusselt num.er.ar. pr.sented and discussed.

Num.r.cal analysis of the fr.e convection coupled heat and m.ss tr.nsfer.is pr.sented for.non-Newtonian power.law fluids with the yield str.ss flowing over.a two-dim.nsional or.axisym.etr.c body of an ar.itr.r. shape in a fluid-satur.ted por.us m.dium. The gover.ing boundar. layer.equations and boundar. conditions ar. cast into a dim.nsionless for.0}by the sim.lar.ty tr.nsfor.0}tion. The r.sulting system.of equations is solved by a finite differ.nce m.thod. The par.m.ter. studied ar. the r.eological constants, the buoyancy r.tio, and the Lewis num.er. r.pr.sentative velocity, tem.er.tur., and concentr.tion pr.files ar. pr.sented and discussed. It is found that the r.sults depend str.ngly on the values of the yield str.ss par.m.ter.and the power.law index of the non-Newtonian fluid.
