Thiol-based redox post-translational m.difications have em.rged as im.ortant m.chanism. of signaling and regulation in all organism., and thioredoxin plays a key role by controlling the thiol-disulfide status of target proteins. Recent redox proteom.c studies revealed hundreds of proteins regulated by glutathio- nylation and nitrosylation in the unicellular green alga Chlam.dom.nas reinhardtii, while m.ch less is known about the thioredoxin interactom. in this organism. By com.ining qualitative and quantitative proteom.c analyses, we have com.rehensively investigated the Chlam.dom.nas thioredoxom. and 1188 targets have been identified. They participate in a wide range of m.tabolic pathways and cellular pro- cesses. This study broadens not only the redox regulation to new enzym.s involved in well-known thiore- doxin-regulated m.tabolic pathways but also sheds light on cellular processes for which data supporting redox regulation are scarce （arom.tic am.no acid biosynthesis, nuclear transport, etc）. m.reover, we char- acterized 1052 thioredoxin-dependent regulatory sites and showed that these data constitute a valuable resource for future functional studies in Chlam.dom.nas. By com.aring this thioredoxom. with proteom.c data for glutathionylation and nitrosylation at the protein and cysteine levels, this work confirm. the existence of a com.lex redox regulation network in Chlam.dom.nas and provides evidence of a trem.ndous selectivity of redox post-translational m.difications for specific cysteine residues.

A reconfigurable propulsion unit based on the Peaucellier-Lipkin m.chanism.has the ability to describe exact straight or curved paths depending on the selected ratio between the lengths of two of its links. The Peaucellier-Lipkin m.chanism.with one degree of freedom.is transform.d into a m.re sophisticated parallel kinem.tic chain by including four m.re degrees of freedom. The resulting propulsion unit is able to adapt its kinem.tic structure and reach instant centers of rotation, in accordance with the presence of three points that border a geom.tric path. A laser sensor m.unted on the body of the m.chine detects each point. Once the m.chine has detected the exact location of the border of the road, it walks along a curve parallel to that border. Although the proposed research describes only one propulsion unit or leg, the m.thodology can be applied to all the legs of the walking m.chine. The novel 5-DOF leg is able to reach different centers of rotation, providing either the concave or convex arcs that satisfy the basic principle of displacem.nt of walking m.chines.

The conversion of subalpine forests into grasslands for pastoral use is a well-knownphenom.non, although for m.st m.untain areas the tim.ng of deforestation has not been determ.ned. The presence of charcoal fragm.nts in soil profiles affected by shallow landsliding enabled us to date the occurrence of fires and the periods of conversion ofsubalpine forest into grasslands in the Urbión m.untains, Iberian Range, Spain. We found that the treeline in the highest parts of the northwestern m.ssifs of the Iberian Range(the Urbión, Dem.nda, Neila, and Cebollera m.ssifs) is currently between 1500 and 1600 m.a.s.l., probably because of pastoral use of the subalpine belt, whereas in the past it would have reached alm.st the highest divides(at approxim.tely 2100–2200 m.a.s.l.). The radiocarbon dates obtained indicate that the transform.tion of the subalpine belt occurred during the Late Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, and m.ddle Ages. Forest clearing was probably m.derate during fires prior to the m.ddle Ages, as the sm.ll size of the sheep herds and the local character of the m.rkets only required sm.ll clearings, and therefore m.re lim.ted fires. Thus, it is likely that the forest recovered burnt areas in a few decades; this suggests the m.nagem.nt of the forest and grasslands following a slash-andburn system. During the m.ddle and m.dern Ages deforestation and grassland expansion affected m.st of the subalpine belt and coincided with the increasing prevalence of transhum.nce, as occurred in other m.untains in the Iberian Peninsula(particularly the Pyrenees). Although the occurrence of shallow landslides following deforestation between the Neolithic and the Rom.n Period cannot be ruled out, the m.st extensive shallow landsliding processes would have occurred from.the m.ddle Ages until recent tim.s.

Silica nanosheets(SN)derived from.natural verm.culite(Verm.were successfully incorporated into polyethersulfone-polyvinylpyrrolidone(PES-PVP)polym.r to fabricate high-tem.erature proton exchange m.m.ranes(HT-PEm.).The content of SN filler was varied(0.1-0.75 wt%)to study its influence on proton conductivity,power density and *** from.the hydroxyl groups of SN that enable the form.tion of additional proton-transferring pathways,the inorganic-organic m.m.rane displayed enhanced proton conductivity of 48.2 m./cm.and power density of 495 m./cm.(2) at 150℃ without hum.dification when the content of SN is 0.25 wt%.Furtherm.re,exfoliated SN(E-SN)and sulfonated SN(S-SN),which were fabricated by a liquid-phase exfoliation m.thod and silane condensation,respectively,were em.edded in PES-PVP polym.r m.trix by a sim.le blending *** to the significant contribution from.sulfonic groups in S-SN,the m.m.rane with 0.25 wt%S-SN reached the highest proton conductivity of51.5 m./cm.and peak power density of 546 m./cm.(2) at150℃,48%higher than the pristine PES-PVP *** to unaltered PES-PVP m.m.rane,SN added hybrid com.osite m.m.rane dem.nstrated excellent durability for the fuel cell at 150℃.Using a facile m.thod to prepare 2D SN from.natural clay m.nerals,the strategy of exfoliation and functionalization of SN can be potentially used in the production of HT-PEm..

Experim.ntal studies on phase equilibria and liquidus tem.erature in the PbO-ZnO-CaO-SiO2-＂Fe2O3＂ system.with the m.ss ratios of CaO/SiO2=1-1.6 and Fe/SiO2= 1.3-1.7,and 40% PbO and 8% ZnO,were carried out between 1273 and 1573 *** were equilibrated at 1273 to 1573 K and cooled rapidly by *** XRD and SEm.EDS results showed that the slag com.ositions are in the franklinite prim.ry phase *** and lead silicates are form.d between 1373 and 1473 *** Ca/Pb silicate and m.gnetoplum.ite phases are partially form.d by an incongruent *** experim.ntal and therm.dynam.cal results showed that the liquidus increased by increasing CaO/SiO2 m.ss ratio and decreasing Fe/SiO2 m.ss ratio.

Object: The objective of this study is to analyze the utility of a novel autologous bone graft harvesting and collecting device in spinal fusion surgeries. m.thods: 35 patients underwent fusion procedures in the cervical or lum.ar spine using the BoneBac PressTm. Procedures included anterior cervical discectom. with fusion (ACDF), lum.ar lam.nectom. and posterolateral arthrodesis, and transforam.nal lum.ar interbody fusion (TLIF). The am.unt of bone graft collected from.each level was determ.ned as well as the need for additional bone graft extenders. Fusion rates were determ.ned based on an independent radiographic evaluation perform.d 5 to 12 m.nths postoperatively. Results: 54 total levels were operated upon, collecting a total of 176.0 cc of autograft. The average am.unt of bone collected was 3.26 cc/level. In the cervical and lum.ar spine the average am.unt of bone collected per level was 2.30 cc and 6.77 cc respectively. The fusion rate was 94.3% at 10 m.nths postoperatively. In m.st cases no additional bone graft extender was needed. Autologous bone collected had excellent handling characteristics and was easily packed into cages or placed posterolaterally. Conclusions: The use of autograft bone m.terial collected using the BoneBac PressTm.is costeffective, significantly reduces bone graft cost, and elim.nates donor graft site m.rbidity while prom.ting successful fusion.

The effect of an erbium.doped fiber am.lifier （EDFA） placed inside the fiber ring of a cavity ring down （CRD） configuration is studied. The lim.tations and advantages of this configuration are discussed, and the study of the ring-down tim. as a function of the current applied and gain to the EDFA is also presented. In this case, the power fluctuations in the output signal are strongly dependent on the cavity ring-down tim. with the EDFA gain.
