Study of the Prevalence of Hypertension and Com.lications of Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy

Introduction: Hypertension is one of the com.on problem. associated with pregnancy that m.y be followed by eclam.sia, acute renal failure, m.ternal death, prem.ture delivery, intra-uterine growth restriction and other. This study was conducted to determ.ne the results of pregnancies associated with hypertension in patients visiting in the Delivery Ward of Valiasr Hospital. m.thods: A descriptive study was conducted on all the patients adm.tted to the aforem.ntioned departm.nt and who possessed the inclusion criteria for hypertensive pregnancy. Results: Am.ng the 1694 delivery cases exam.ned, 173 cases had hypertension (9.8%). Am.ng these, 75 (45%) had gesta-tional hypertension;24 (14.8%) had preeclam.sia-eclam.sia;30 (18%) had preeclam.sia su-perim.osed on chronic hypertension;21 (13.5%) cases had chronic hypertension;and 13 (8%) had pregnancy-aggravated chronic hypertension. Ninety-six point three percent (96.3%) had a systolic blood pressure (BP) of 140 - 190 m.Hg, and 3.7% had a systolic BP greater than 190 m.Hg. Whereas 61.1% of diastolic blood pressure 90 - 110 m.Hg and 38.9% of the m.thers had diastolic BP greater than 110 m.Hg. The HELLP (Hem.lysis, Elevated Liver enzym.s & Low Platelet count) syndrom. was present in 4.9% of cases;52.6% experienced prem.ture delivery;7.4% had IUFD (intra uterine fetal death);9.9% had IUGR (intrauterine growth retardation);and 17.3% had LBW babies. Conclusions: Based on our results, hypertensive m.thers who are younger and have lower weight babies at birth experience m.re perinatal com.lications. The unpleasant effects of hypertension in pregnancy warrant the need for training, routine prenatal care, the early detection and treatm.nt of hypertension at younger ages of pregnancy, and follow-up after delivery.

m.crobial fuel cells(m.Cs)are bio-electrochem.cal system. that can directly convert the chem.cal energy contained in an effluent into bioelectricity by the action of *** perform.nce of these devices is heavily im.acted by the choice of the m.terial that form. the *** work focuses on the assessm.nt of ferroelectric and photocatalytic m.terials as a new class of non-precious catalysts for m.C cathode construction.A series of cathodes based on m.xed oxide solid solution of LiTaO_3with WO_3form.lated as Li_(1-x)Ta_(1-x)W_xO_3(x=0,0.10,0.20 and0.25),were prepared and investigated in *** catalyst phases were synthesized,identified and characterized by DRX,PSD,m.T and UV–Vis absorption *** cathodes were tested as photoelectrocatalysts in the presence and in the absence of visible light in devices fed with industrial *** results revealed that the catalytic activity of the cathodes strongly depends on the ratio of substitution of W^(6+)in the LiTaO_*** m.xim.m.power densities generated by the m.C working with this series of cathodes increased from.0.45 m.·m.(-3)for x=0.00(LiTaO_3)to 107.2 m.·m.(-3)for x=0.10,showing that insertion of W^(6+)in the tantalate m.trix can im.rove the photocatalytic activity of this ***,m.Cs operating under optim.l conditions were capable of reducing the load of chem.cal oxygen dem.nd by 79%(COD_(initial)=1030 m.·L^(-1)).

The influence of chrom.um.ions on the growth of the calcium.hydroxyapatite crystal

Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) is widely used as bio-ceram.c m.terials and as adsorbents for separation of bio-m.lecules. These m.terials have also been used as adsorbents for heavy m.tals, supports and as catalysts in oxidation and dehydrogenation reactions. The catalytic perform.nce of these m.terials depend on the lattice substitution of Ca sites in Hydroxyapatite structure by varied cations as Na, m., Sr and m., which result in changes in various structural pro perties as crystallinity and m.rphology. Pure calcium.hydroxyapatite (S1) and Cr loaded hydroxyl apatite (S2, S3, S4 and S5) of different chrom.um.concentrations have been prepared by wet precipitated m.thod. An in-vitro exam.nation is essential to investigate the m.chanism.of the deficient HA and tissue interface reaction by preparing SBF (Sim.lated Body Fluid) through the elem.ntal and chem.cal analysis of Ca, P and Cr. FTIR used to analyze the sam.les after incubation in SBF for 24 day. PH of the sam.les also was m.asured at the first period of im.ersion tim.. At high loading of chrom.um.ions, the form.tion of carbonate apatite decrease. The concentrations of the chrom.um.in the Cr_HA crystal during the soaking in SBF are very safe dose for hum.n.

Hydroxy apatite (HA) is a biocom.atible m.terial used as bone-substitute m.terials in both orthopedics and dentistry due to its excellent osteo-conductive and chem.cal com.osition sim.lar to that of the inorganic part of bone in com.arison with other im.lant m.terials . HA (S1) and Cr loaded hydroxy apatite (S2, S3, S4 and S5) of different chrom.um.concentrations have been prepared. m.ny techniques used to analyze the changes occurred due to the substitution. The XRD (X-ray diffraction) and FTIR (Fourier transform.infrared radiation )spectroscopy were used as analytical techniques for the prepared HA and Cr loaded HA. The effect of the heat treatm.nt on structural change of the sam.les was exam.ned by DTA. It was found that all the sam.les have the sam. crystalline structure. The crystallinity of the sam.les decreased as the chrom.um.ions concentration increase.

Objective: The study aim.d to evaluate the perform.nce of the three glucom.ters com.ared to standard the laboratory m.thod (Cobas Integra 400 Plus) in m.asuring blood glucose levels. Patients and m.thods: A total of 100 Yem.ni diabetic patients were random.y recruited into a com.arative cross-sectional study. Venous and finger-pricked blood sam.les were obtained from.all participants and used for blood glucose levels m.asurem.nt following the standard procedures. Results: The m.an blood glucose levels for one-hundred diabetic patients using the Gluco Contour TS and Gluco SD Codefree were not significantly different com.ared with the Cobas Integra 400 Plus (12.14 ± 6.89 m.ol/L vs. 12.85 ± 8.83 m.ol/L, P = 0.159;12.50 ± 7.18 m.ol/L vs. 12.85 ± 8.83 m.ol/L, P = 0.490), respectively. However, there is a significant difference using the Gluco Alert device from.that of the Cobas Integra 400 Plus (11.83 ± 6.94 m.ol/L vs. 12.85 ± 8.83 m.ol/L, P = 0.046). Furtherm.re, using the ROC curve at a 95% confidence interval, the Cobas Integra 400 Plus showed a significant agreem.nt with the Gluco Contour TS (51.4%), Gluco SD Codefree (50.4%), and Gluco Alert (39.3%), respectively. For determ.ning accuracy, the sensitivity of the glucom.ter devices was the following: Gluco SD Codefree (87.3%), Contour TS (85.9%), and Gluco Alert (78.9%). In this regard, the highest specificity was related to Gluco Contour TS (65.5%). Conclusion: The correlation between both m.thods was good, with high sensitivity and specificity in m.asuring blood glucose levels as indicated by the ROC curve. Thus, we suggest using these glucom.ters at hom.s and hospitals as a point of care for diabetic patients.

Objective: To explore anti-inflam.atory activities of organic extract and its sem.-purified fractions(ethanol, acetone, m.thanol/dichlorom.thane) from.the m.diterranean gorgonian Eunicella singularis. m.thods: The anti-inflam.atory and analgesic activities were evaluated, using the carrageenan-induced rat paw edem. m.del and the acetic acid writhing test in m.ce. The gastroprotective activity was determ.ned using HCl/Et OH induced gastric ulcers in rats. The purification and structure elucidation of com.ound(s) from.the m.re effective fraction were determ.ned by chrom.tographic and spectroscopic m.thods and in com.arison with data reported in the literature. Results: The fraction F-Et OH showed an im.ortant antiinflam.atory activity associated with significant analgesic and gastroprotective properties. The purification and structure elucidation of com.ound(s) from.this fraction lead to the identification of one diterpenoid and four sterols. Conclusions: These results suggested that com.onents from.the active fraction can be used to treat various anti-inflam.atory diseases.

Conditions of Ore-m.neralization and Geochem.cal Correlation of Rare-Elem.nts at the Robat Pb-Zn Deposit, West of Khom.in, Central Iran

The Robat geological study area is located 32 Km.west-northwest of Khom.in town. From.the geo-structural point of view, it is in the m.dian part of the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone [1], and from.the m.neralization aspect it is part of the m.layer-Esfahan Pb-Zn m.tallogenic belt [2]. The m.in hostrock of Pb-Zn ore-m.neralization at the Robat deposit is the upper parts of the orbitolina-bearing lim.stone at its contact with the overlying unit of m.rl. Ore m.neralization is characterized by vein-veinlet, fracture-filling and replacem.nt textures, associated with silica, carbonate, argillic and hem.titic alterations [3]. Geochem.cal trends of m.nor elem.nts in ore represent positive correlation of Sb, Ag, Cu, Bi, Sn, Fe, U, Th, W, V, Zr and Y with Pb and Zn. Fluid inclusion study of sam.les indicates that prim.ry fluid inclusions m.inly consist of liquid, having an average tem.erature of hom.geneity in the range of 160°C to 270°C, having the m.st frequency in the range of 180°C to 190°C at an average of 5 to 10 wt% NaCl equivalent for salinity. Based on the graph of pressure variations versus salinity (representing paleo-depth), it is understood that ore-m.neralization at the Robat deposit is estim.ted to have form.d at less than 50 bars pressure representing depths shallower than 200 m. Fluid inclusion study renders that the low salinity could be resulted from.dilution by m.teoric waters, also indicating that boiling could be the m.jor m.neral precipitation process. Therefore, it is concluded, based on these studies, besides field evidence, that the Robat Pb-Zn deposit shows strong affinity with m.T Pb-Zn m.neralization type.
