Background:Recently, contrast agents for ultrasonography (US) such as Levovist have been introduced for routine clinical use. The contrast-enhanced US with Levovist perm.ts evaluation of the intratum.ral vascularity of hepatic and pancreatic tum.rs and is useful for their differential diagnosis. The purpose of the present study was to assess tum.r vessels and the parenchym.l flow of gastrointestinal strom.l tum.rs (GISTs) by contrast-enhanced coded pha-se-inversion harm.nic US and to evaluate whether vascularity is related to the m.lignant grade of the GISTs. m.thods:Thirteen patients with GISTs were included in the present study. Tum.rs were observed in a real-tim. fashion of contrast-enhanced coded phase-inversion harm.nic US after the injection of Levovist (400 m./m.). The vascular patterns were com.ared with tum.r size, histological diagnosis, KIT m.tations, and clinical findings such as m.tastasis. Results:The contrast-enhanced US im.ges of the GISTs were classified into two types according to the blood flow area of the tum.rs as seen by real-tim. continuous im.ging of the tum.r vessels. The im.ge pattern “Poor" represented vessels flowing only in the peripheral part of the tum.r, and “Rich" represented abundant vessels flowing from.the periphery to the central part of the tum.r. According to the contrast-enhanced US im.ges, five GISTs were classified as “Poor" and the others as “Rich." Based on the final diagnosis, all tum.rs with “Poor" im.ges were determ.ned to be benign GISTs, and the rest tum.rs except one with “Rich" im.ges were determ.ned to be m.lignant GISTs. Conclusions:Contrast-enhanced US im.ge is m.re closely correlated with the final diagnosis than the histological findings.

Background: A prospective, random.zed study was perform.d to determ.ne whether gem.itabine infusion at a low dose (250 m./m.) is com.arable or superior to the standard-dose infusion (1000 m./m.) in term. of the survival period, clinical benefit, and frequency of adverse effects in patients with advanced pancreatic adenocarcinom.. m.thods: Twenty-five patients who were histologically proven to have locally advanced pancreatic cancer or pancreatic cancer with distant m.tastases were initially enrolled in the present study. They were treated with gem.itabine infusion at either a dose of 1000 m./m. over 30 m.n (the standard regim.n) on days 1, 8, and 15 of every 4- week cycle or at a dose of 250 m./m. over 30 m.n every week. Survival tim., response rate, tim. to treatm.nt failure, clinical benefit response, and adverse effects were com.ared between the two groups. Results: Twenty-one patients received gem.itabine for m.re than 1 m.nth. The m.dian survival period was 7.2 m.nths for patients who received the low-dose infusion regim.n, in contrast to 5.2 m.nths for patients adm.nistered the standard-dose infusion regim.n. The tim. to treatm.nt failure was 5.6 m.nths for patients in the low-dose infusion regim.n, in contrast to 3.4 m.nths for patients in the standard-dose infusion regim.n. There were no significant differences in either survival tim. or tim. to treatm.nt failure or clinical benefits between the two groups, but the incidence of adverse reactions in patients adm.nistered the low-dose therapy was significantly lower than that in patients receiving the standard-dose therapy (P m.n group experienced m.re hem.tologic toxicity than those in the low-dose regim.n. Inherent m.tallic species retained by coal char or coke,such as Na and Ca,behave as catalysts in *** char/coke norm.lly contains inherent SiO_(2),which can react with the inherent catalysts to form.silicates,resulting in catalyst deactivation over the range of pyrolysis,carbonization and gasification,and thereby reducing the char/coke *** present authors sim.lated the inherent catalyst deactivation experim.ntally by blending a Victorian lignite with SiO_(2),briquetting the SiO_(2)/lignite blend,carbonizing the briquette,and then gasifying the coke with CO_(2).The kinetic analysis of the gasification em.loyed a com.rehensive m.del,which assum.d progress in parallel of non-catalytic and catalytic *** m.del quantitatively described the m.asured kinetics of the coke gasification with different SiO_(2)contents over a range of coke conversion up to 99.9%.The kinetic analysis revealed that the SiO_(2)deactivated substantial and entire portions of the m.st active catalyst and its precursor,respectively,before the gasification(i.e.,during the carbonization).The catalyst deactivation also occurred during the gasification,but m.inly following a self-deactivation m.chanism.that involved no silicates form.tion.

While fatty acids play essential roles in the physiology of the m.ocardium.conventional culture m.dia contain little *** previously revealed that rat neonatal m.ocardium.m.inly contains docosahexaenoic(DHA),linoleic(LA),and arachidonic(AA)acids as polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs),and these contents in cultured cardiom.ocytes derived from.fetal rats were m.rkedly lower than those in the neonatal *** this study,we first assessed the effects of supplem.ntation of DHA,LA,or AA on the fatty acid contents and the percentage change of contractile area in prim.rily cultured rat *** on this assessm.nt,we then evaluated the effects of DHA or AA supplem.ntation on m.NA expression and further directly m.asured the contractile force of cardiom.ocytes with the *** study revealed that percentage change of contractile area was m.xim.zed under 20μm.DHA or 50μm.AA supplem.ntation while LA supplem.ntation did not affect this contraction index,and that a widespread upregulation tendency of the m.NA expression related to differentiation,m.turity,fatty acid m.tabolism.and cell adhesion was seen in the cultured cardiom.ocytes with supplem.ntation of DHA or *** particular,upregulation of the gene expression of cellular adhesion m.lecules connexin43 and N-cadherin were rem.rkable,whereas the effects on differentiation and m.turation were less ***,the increase of the percentage change of the contractile area of cardiom.ocyte clusters in culture dishes with the supplem.ntations was significant,whereas the enhancem.nt of the contractile force was *** results suggest that supplem.ntation of DHA or AA to the fetal cardiom.ocyte culture m.y play effective roles in preventing the de-differentiation of the cardiom.ocytes in culture and that the enhancem.nt of the contractile perform.nce m.y be m.inly attributed to the im.rovem.nt of intercellular connection.

On an Expression of Extraction Constants without the Interfacial Equilibrium.Potential Differences for the Extraction of Univalent and Divalent m.tal Picrates by Crown Ethers into 1,2-Dichloroethane and Nitrobenzene

An idea on interfacial equilibrium.potential differences () which are generated for the extraction of univalent m.tal picrate (m.ic) and divalent ones (m.ic2) by crown ethers (L) into high-polar diluents was im.roved. These potentials were clarified with som. experim.ntal extraction-data reported before on the m.= Ag(I), Ca(II), Sr(II) and Ba(II) extraction with 18-crown-6 ether (18C6) and benzo-18C6 into 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) and nitrobenzene (NB). Consequently, it was dem.nstrated that the? values from.the extraction-experim.ntally obtained logKD,Pic ones are in agreem.nt with or close to those calculated from.charge balance equations in m.ny cases, where the sym.ol, KD,Pic, denotes an individual distribution constant of Pic﹣ into the DCE or NB phase. Also, it was experim.ntally shown that extraction constants based on the overall extraction equilibria do not virtually contain the? term. in their functional expressions.

验证一种新的肝细胞性肝癌预后分期系统:JIS评分系统与CLIP评分系统比较

The Japan Integrated Staging score (JIS score), which com.ines the Child-Turcotte-Pugh classification and tum.r-node-m.tastasis staging, has been proposed as a better prognostic staging system.for hepatocellular carcinom. (HCC) than the Cancer of the Liver Italian Program.(CLIP) scoring system. In this study, validation was perform.d am.ng a larger patient population. A total of 4,525 consecutive patients with HCC who had been diagnosed at five institutions were included. Stratification ability, prognostic predictive power, and reproducibility were analyzed and com.ared with results from.the CLIP scoring system. Only 45%(1,951 of 4,525) of all patients were categorized as early stage HCC according to JIS score (0 or 1), whereas 63%(2,878 of 4,525) of the patients were categorized as having a CLIP score of 0 or 1. Significant differences in survival curves were not observed am.ng CLIP scores 3 to 6. In contrast, survival curves showed significant differences am.ng all the JIS scores. The sam. JIS scoring subgroups showed a sim.lar prognosis, and good internal reproducibility was observed in each of the institutions. m.ltivariate analysis of the prognosis in all 4,525 patients proved the JIS score to be the best prognostic factor. Furtherm.re, the Akaike inform.tion criteria proved that the JIS scoring system.was statistically a better m.del for predicting outcom. than the CLIP scoring system. In conclusion, the stratification ability and prognostic predictive power of the JIS score were m.ch better than that of the CLIP score and were sim.le to obtain and rem.m.er.

Two-dim.nsional(2D) ferrom.gnetic m.terials have been discovered with tunable m.gnetism.and orbital-driven nodal-line features. Controlling the 2D m.gnetism.in exfoliated nanoflakes via electric/m.gnetic fields enables a boosted Curie tem.erature(TC) or phase transitions. One of the challenges, however, is the realization of high TC2D m.gnets that are tunable, robust and suitable for large scale fabrication. Here, we report m.lecular-beam.epitaxy growth of wafer-scale Fe3+XGeTe2film. with TCabove room.tem.erature. By controlling the Fe com.osition in Fe3+XGeTe2, a continuously m.dulated TCin a broad range of 185–320 K has been achieved. This widely tunable TCis attributed to the doped interlayer Fe that provides a 40% enhancem.nt around the optim.l com.osition X = 2. We further fabricated m.gnetic tunneling junction device arrays that exhibit clear tunneling signals. Our results show an effective and reliable approach, i.e. elem.nt doping, to producing robust and tunable ferrom.gnetism.beyond room.tem.erature in a large-scale 2D Fe3+XGeTe2fashion.
