The solar UV radiation has prom.nent im.acts on hum.n life, anim.ls and plants with positive and negative effects. Atm.spheric ozone, which is form.d from.the photodissociation of m.lecular oxygen m.inly in the stratosphere, absorbs a significant factor of solar UV radiation. The ozone in the stratosphere acts as a protective layer to prevent UV radiation reaching on the surface of the earth. Hence the intensity of solar UV radiation on the surface has a strong dependence on the Total Ozone Colum. (TOC). The UV irradiance on earth surface depends on geom.trical factors such as solar zenith angle, altitude, latitude and other atm.spheric param.ters as well. This is an attem.t to study the variation of solar UV flux at its four discrete wavelengths ranging from.305 - 380 nm.at k.nnur, which is located in the north of k.rala in India. Hence such a correlation of TOC and UV irradiance is relevant to realize the radiation budget at this location (12.3N, 75.4E) using AURA Om. data. This paper reveals the correlation of day to day, m.nth to m.nth tem.oral variation of total ozone colum. (in DU) and UV irradiance (w/m.). From.the analysis, the anti-correlation between UV and TOC is revealed and its im.act in the solar radiation budget is established.

Ozone plays a significant part in regulating clim.te change and the chem.cal characteristics of the atm.sphere. Changes in atm.spheric ozone can be studied in m.re detail using ground-based and satellite-based instrum.nts. Studies on the long-term.global changes in total colum. ozone have begun m.re than three-decade ago using satellite data. The m.in objective of this work.is to analyze the Total Colum. Ozone (TCO) variations, and tropo-spheric ozone variations over different twenty locations in the Indian sub-continent by using Total Ozone m.pping Spectrom.ter (TOm.) and AURA Om./m.S data. The long-term.analysis of total colum. ozone is divided into two phases (1979-1994 and 2005-2018), and tropospheric ozone for one phase (2005-2018) in order to detect changes in the ozone trend pattern. The results of linear regression analysis show a declining trend of total colum. ozone, and an increasing trend of tropospheric ozone over the selected locations. The im.act of wind pattern on the variation of ozone has been analyzed by using NCEP reanalysis data, and found that wind patterns played a prom.nent role in spatial and tem.oral changes in total and tropospheric ozone distribution over the subcontinent. Latitudinal variation of total colum. ozone from.Nagarcoil to Anantanag has also been studied for the years 1979, 1994, 2005, and 2018, which indicates an increase in ozone concentration with latitude.

From.the Indian coast only lim.ted data are available on the benthic fauna of the seagrass com.unities. In this study, seasonal variation in the distribution of m.crobenthos and influence of environm.ntal param.ters was explored at four seagrass beds and two m.ngrove stations along the m.nicoy Island, Lak.hadweep, India, from.Septem.er 1999 to August 2001. A total of 160 m.crobenthic species from.eight m.jor groups represented the m.crofauna of the m.nicoy Island. Of the identified taxa, m.lluscs 70（gastropods 41.46%, bivalves 7.5%）, polychaetes 27（16.88%）, crustaceans 30（18.75%）, echinoderm. 11（6.88%） and rem.ining others. Average seasonal abundance of benthic m.crofauna ranged from.219 to 711 ind./m., species diversity varied from.1.45 to 3.64 bits per individual, species richness index ranged from.4.01 to 26.17, evenness 0.69 to 1.66. In general, the higher abundance and species diversity was noticed in southern seagrass stations and northern seagrass stations, but in the m.ngrove stations com.aratively low species diversity was observed. Three-way analysis of variance indicated that all com.unities resulted as being significantly different between seagrass and m.ngrove station, m.inly when the seasonal interaction was considered. m.ltivariate analyses were em.loyed to help define benthic characteristic and the relationship between environm.ntal param.ters at the six m.nitoring stations. Results of cluster analyses and m.ltidim.nsional scale plot suggest that for m.ngrove region, different physiographic provinces, lower salinity, dissolved oxygen and sedim.nt biotic structure have a higher influence on the species com.osition and diversity than other oceanographic conditions.

The cerium.（Ce3＋） doped yttrium.alum.nium.borate （YAB） phosphor was synthesized by m.dified solid state reaction. The phosphor＇s phase purity and its em.ssion properties were studied using powder X-ray diffraction pattern and photolum.nescence spectroscopy. The synthesized YAB had rhom.bohedral crystal structure. The phosphor had two different excitation and em.ssion spectra. By 325 nm.excitation, the phosphor had em.ssion at 373 nm.and with 363 nm.excitation; the phosphor gave violet-blue em.ssion at 418 nm. The UV em.ssion of the phosphor originated due to Ce3＋ ions at the yttrium.site and violet-blue em.ssion owing to Ce3＋ ions at non-regular sites viz., A13＋ and interstitial sites. The em.ssion intensity of the phosphor was enhanced when m.novalent ions （k., Na＋, and F） were added as co-dopants. The crucial role of ionic radii of m.novalent co-dopants on the em.ssion enhancem.nt of the YAB：Ce3＋ phosphor was reported. Therm.gravim.tric study showed that the YAB possessed high therm.l stability at up to 900 ℃.
