In endoscopic subm.cosal dissection(ESD),the narrow gastrointestinal space can cause difficulty in surgical *** ablation apparatuses with high-power CO_(2) lasers or Nd:YAG lasers have been developed to facilitate endoscopic surgical *** studied the interaction of 808-nm.laser light with a porcine stom.ch tissue,with the aim.of developing a therapeutic m.dical device that can rem.ve lesions at the gastrointestinal wall by irradiating a near-infrared laser light incorporated in an endoscopic *** perforation depths at the porcine fillet and the stom.ch tissues linearly increased in the range of 2–8m. in proportion to the laser energy density of 63.7–382 kJ/cm.(2).Despite the distinct structural and com.ositional di®erence,the variation of the perforation depth between the stom.ch and the fillet was not found at 808-nm.wavelength in our *** further studied the laser–tissue interaction by changing the concentration of the m.thyl blue solution used conventionally as a subm.cosal fluidic cushion(SFC)in ESD *** tem.erature of the m.cosal layer increased m.re rapidly at higher concentration of the m.thyl blue solution,because of enhanced light absorption at the SFC *** insertion of the SFC would protect the m.scle layer from.therm.l *** confirm.d that m.re effective laser treatm.nt should be enabled by tuning the opto-therm.l properties of the *** study can contribute to the optim.zation of the driving param.ters for laser incision techniques as an alternative to conventional surgical interventions.

Effects of shifting cultivation on biological and biochem.cal characteristics of soil m.croorganism. in Khagrachari hill district, Bangladesh

We collected soil sam.les from.two representative sites at Aatm.le of Khagarachari hill district in Chittagong Hill Tracts. One of the sites was under shifting cultivation and the other an adjacent 13-year old teak plantation. Both sites were in the sam. physiographic condition and sam. aspect with parable soil type, which enabled us to m.asure the effects of shifting cultivation on soil m.cro-flora. We studied soil phys-ico-chem.cal properties and the biochem.cal and biological properties of soil m.crobes. m.isture and organic m.tter content as well as fungi and bacterial populations, both in surface and subsurface soils, were signifi-cantly （p≤0.001） lower in shifting cultivated soils com.ared to soils not under shifting cultivation, i.e. the teak plantation site. The m.st abundant bacteria in surface （0-10 cm. and sub-surface （10-20 cm. soils under shifting cultivation were Pseudom.nas dim.nuta and Shigella, respec-tively, while in corresponding soil layers of teak plantation, predom.nant m.crobes were Bacillus firm.s （0-10 cm. and Xanthom.nas （10-20 cm.. The m.crobial population differences cannot be explained by soil texture differences because of the textural sim.larity in soils from.the two sites but could be related to the significantly lower m.isture and organic m.t-ter contents in soils under shifting cultivation.

Fluvial reservoir characterization through channel belt dim.nsion and petrophysical analysis

The dim.nsions and connectivity of fluvial reservoirs vary greatly, m.king it challenging to characterize them.using conventional approaches. In this study integrated channel belt dim.nsion analysis from.seism.c geom.rphology and em.irical equations, well log facies, and petrophysical analysis were perform.d to characterize the fluvial reservoirs. The study interval consists of fluvial deposits and is divided into three reservoir zones, which are defined by four key regional m.rkers (B, D, K, O). In these intervals, six (6) fluvial facies have been identified. Based on the log facies proportions and their stacking relationships, it is interpreted that the reservoirs in zone 1 (B to D) were deposited in a proxim.l reach of a m.andering system. zone 2 (D to K) in a m.rginal m.rine setting, and zone 3 (K) in a distal reach of a m.andering system. The dim.nsions of fluvial channels and channel belts were determ.ned using em.irical equations. The results were com.ared with the observed dim.nsions of fluvial channels and channel belts from.the seism.c horizon and stratal slices of the sam. intervals. Zones 1 and 3 are characterized by broad m.ander belts (1000–4000 m. com.ared to zone 2 (600–1300 m.. Petrophysical analysis showed zones 1 and 3 have the better petrophysical properties com.ared to zone 2. Though zone 3 has the m.st well-developed sand bodies, the best reservoir interval is zone 1 because of its higher porosity. Although channel belt dim.nsions have a significant influence on reservoir connectivity, they do not seem.to have control on reservoir properties. The channel belt dim.nsions obtained from.the em.irical equations and interpreted from.the seism.c geom.rphology analysis were found to be strikingly sim.lar. Since three-dim.nsional seism.c data is not available everywhere and seism.c im.ging quality decreases with depth, em.irical equations can be used to analyze fluvial reservoir param.ters and their connectivity at greater depths.

Assaying the allelopathic effects of Eucalyptus cam.ldulensis in a nursery bed incorporated with leaf litter

Allelopathic effects of Eucalyptus cam.ldulensis Dehnh. were confirm.d in Petri dish and pot experim.nts in our previous studies. However, the degree to which such effects under controlled experim.nts exist in m.re com.lex ecological settings rem.ins to be tested. Thus, the present study was carried out by incorporating different proportions of ground litter of E. cam.ldulensis in soil. The growth of three agricultural crops: falen(Vigna unguiculata(L.) Walp.), chickpea(Cicer arietinum.L.), and arhor(Cajanus cajan(L.) m.llsp.), and two tree species, kala koroi(Albizia procera(Roxb.) Benth.) and ipil ipil(Leucaena leucocephala(Lam.) de Wit) were tested. There were inhibitory effects of leaf litter on germ.nation, shoot and root growth, leaf num.er, and collar diam.ter as well as a reduction of nodulation by legum. crops(25–80%reduction). The extent of the effects was dependent on the proportion of leaf litter, the species and the type of traits. In contrast to shoot growth, the effect on root growth was m.re severe. No effect on germ.nation was found with the agriculture crops while the two tree species showed reduced germ.nation. The effect was greater in the presence of higher proportions of leaf litter m.xed in soil while in som. cases lower proportions stim.lated growth. Not all species were suppressed; A. procera, C. cajan, V. unguiculata showed com.atible growth while C. arietinum.and *** were found incom.atible. This study provides evidence that E. cam.ldulensis has allelopathic potential under field conditions and a careful selection of associated crops in agroforestry system. is highly recom.ended.

Novel m.cro-ring structured ZnO photoelectrode for dye-sensitized solar cell

The m.cro-ring like structured zinc oxide(ZnO) film.was deposited on SnO_2: F coated glass substrate by sol-gel dip-coating technique with 1.0 g polyethylene glycol(PEG) content. The surface m.rphology of m.cro-ring structured ZnO film.has been confirm.d by the scanning electron m.croscope. This ZnO film.is used to fabricate the solar cell with the help of ruthenium.based dye and carbon counter electrode. The photoelectric and incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency was 1.17% and 48.4%, respectively. The DSC results have been com.ared with ZnO film. prepared without PEG contents.

Background:m.deling exchange rate volatility has rem.ined crucially im.ortant because of its diverse *** study aim.d to address the issue of error distribution assum.tion in m.deling and forecasting exchange rate volatility between the Bangladeshi taka(BDT)and the US dollar($).m.thods:Using daily exchange rates for 7 years(January 1,2008,to April 30,2015),this study attem.ted to m.del dynam.cs following generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic(GARCH),asym.etric power ARCH(APARCH),exponential generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedstic(EGARCH),threshold generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedstic(TGARCH),and integrated generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedstic(IGARCH)processes under both norm.l and Student’s t-distribution assum.tions for *** and Conclusions:It was found that,in contrast with the norm.l distribution,the application of Student’s t-distribution for errors helped the m.dels satisfy the diagnostic tests and show im.roved forecasting *** such error distribution for out-of-sam.le volatility forecasting,AR(2)–GARCH(1,1)is considered the best.

Effects of urea-N fertilizer dosage supplem.nted with Ipil-Ipil tree litter on yield of rice and insect prevalence

The present study was undertaken to determ.ne the effects of different levels of urea-N fertilizer in addition to ipil-ipil tree litter on yield of rice and insect prevalence. The field study was conducted at the Agroforestry Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, m.m.nsingh during July-Decem.er 2004. The treatm.nts included 0, 90, 180, and 270 kg urea per hectare. All four treatm.nts received five tons ipil-ipil tree litter per hectare. The experim.nt was laid out in a random.zed com.lete block design （RCBD） with four replications. The results showed that the different treatm.nts significantly influenced the yield and yield com.onent viz. total tillers/hill, effective tillers/hill, filled grains and unfilled grains/panicle. The highest yield of 4.62 t·h^m.2 with an increase of 21.57% over the control was recorded in treatm.nt 180 kg urea·h^m.2, which was statistically sim.lar to treatm.nt 90 kg urea·h^m.2. The prevalence of insects viz. green leafhopper, brown plant hopper, rice bugs, leaf folder and stem.borers were m.stly correlated with N-levels. The prevalence of insects in general gradu- ally increased with the increase of N. Therefore, this study suggests that the com.ined application of organic m.terials （tree litter of ipil-ipil） and N-fertilizer of 90 kg·h^m.2 m.y oroduce good yield while m.nim.zine insect arevalence in the rice field.

Antigenic determ.nants expressed on the bacterial cell surface are of im.ortance in the serological characterization and m.crobiological diagnosis. The bacterial strains carrying these identical or sim.lar antigenic epitopes m.ght react with antibodies produced against other strains. In this study, strong im.unogenicity and antigenic cross reactivity were dem.nstrated am.ng V. cholerae O1, S. flexnerii 2a and H. influenzae b surface com.onents. The enzym. linked im.unosorbent assay （ELISA） results were supported by Western blot analysis, where at least 20 antigenic bands, were obtained in each of the reactions, when the surface com.onents were reacted with the hom.logous antisera. The indirect ELISA results also dem.nstrated high degree of antigenic relatedness between the surface com.onents of these species, where each surface com.onent was reacted with the heterologous antisera. Western blot analysis also revealed cross reactions between the surface com.onents suggesting com.on distribution of antigens/epitopes in these bacterial species. This study, thus, gave a clear idea of the level of antigenic sharing and variations am.ng the pathogenic V. cholerae O1, S. flexneri 2a and H. influenzae b strains, which in future, m.y help in selecting a proper candidate for vaccines and im.unodiagnostics developm.nt.

Objective:To detect the in vitro total phenolics,flavonoids contents and antioxidant activity of essential oil,various organic extracts from.the leaves of tropical m.dicinal plant Tetrastigm. from.***:The dry powder leaves of Tetrastigm. were extracted with different organic solvent such as *** acetate,chloroform.butanol and aqueous *** total phenolic and total flavonoids contents of the essential oil and various organic extracts such as hexane,ethyl acetate,chloroform.butanol and aqueous ethanol were determ.ned by Folin-Ciocalteu m.thod and the assayed antioxidant activity was determ.ned in vitro m.dels such as antioxidant capacity by radical scavenging activity usingα,α-diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) ***:The total phenolic contents of the essential oil and different extracts as gallic acid equivalents were found to be highest in m.thanol extract(386.22 m./g) followed by ethyl acetate(190.89 m./g).chloroform.175.89 m./g).hexane(173.44 m./g).and Im.anol extract (131.72 m./g) and the phenolic contents not detected in essential *** antioxidant capacity of the essential oil and different extracts as ascorbic acid standard was in the order of m.thanol extract>ethyl acetate extract>chloroform.gt;butanol>hexane extract also the antioxidant activity was not detected in essential ***:The findings show that the extent of antioxidant activity of the essential oil and all extracts are in accordance with the am.unt of phenolics present in that *** of Tetrastigm. being rich in phenolics m.y provide a good source of antioxidant.
