There is a widespread belief that inform.tion and knowledge are vital for rural and agricultural developm.nt. Today, generation of new and various inform.tion and knowledge sources need new inform.tion and com.unication channels. New inform.tion and com.unication technologies can decrease poverty by prom.tion rural people access to education, health, governm.nt and financial services; overall, they can im.rove livelihood. The purpose of this study was to identify potentials of new inform.tion and com.unications technologies （ICTs） in agricultural and rural sector. Docum.ntary research and literature review were used as research m.thod. Findings revealed that the m.st applications for these ICTs in rural and agricultural sector were： E-trade of inputs and outputs, extension and training activities for rural dwellers, advertisem.nt of rural tourism.products, knowledge transfer from.urban to rural and vice versa, official procedures and geographic inform.tion system.（GIS） for m.nagem.nt of natural resources.
