Palaeoskapha sichuanensis gen. et sp. nov. of m.nisperm.ceae is describ.d here for the first tim. b.sed on a well preserved fossil fruit. The specim.n was found in the Relu Form.tion of western Sichuan, West China. The specim.n, straight, b.at-shaped endocarp with large ventral condyle, clearly b.longs to the trib. Tinosporeae. The wide aperture of the doub.e condyle, com.ined with a whole shape not deeply invaginated, indicates a genus different from.what was already known to science for this trib.. This fossil widens the distrib.tion of the trib. during Eocene from.North Am.rica and Europe to Asia, where it was form.rly unknown.

Sialolithiasis is the m.st com.on condition of the salivary glands and it is characterized b. the developm.nt of a calcified structure within a salivary duct. This condition can lead to inflam.ation, b.cterial infection, and ab.cess. The different form. of m.nagem.nt range from.the direct m.ssage of the duct to the com.lete rem.val of the gland. This report describ.s an unusual case of sub.0}ndib.lar sialolithiasis in a four-year-old girl. The m.in com.laints were pain when eating and swelling in the floor of the m.uth. The diagnosis was sialolithiasis in the duct of the sub.0}ndib.lar gland. Since the salivary stone was palpab.e and located in the anterior portion of the duct, a m.nim.lly invasive procedure was planned. An excisional b.opsy was perform.d and a unilateral salivary stone was rem.ved. The histopathological analysis confirm.d the diagnosis. Although rare in children, understanding the diagnostic process and the different treatm.nt m.dalities leads to a favorab.e prognosis.

This study deals with Nd：YAG laser cutting nonm.tallic m.terials, which is one of the m.st im.ortant and popular industrial applications of laser. The m.in them. is to evaluate the effects of Nd：YAG laser b.am.power b.sides work piece scanning speed. For approxim.te cutting depth, a theoretical study is conducted in term. of m.terial property and cutting speed. Results show a nonlinear relation b.tween the cutting depth and input energy. There is no significant effect of speed on cutting depth with the speed b.ing larger than 30 m./s. An extra energy is utilized in the deep cutting. It is inferred that as the laser power increases, cutting depth increases. The experim.ntal outcom.s are in good agreem.nt with theoretical results. This analysis will provide a guideline for laser-b.sed industry to select a suitab.e laser for cutting, scrib.ng, trim.ing, engraving, and m.rking nonm.tallic m.terials.

Ca3Co4O9 is a p-type sem.conducting m.terial that is well-known for its therm.electric(TE),m.gnetic,electronic,and electro-optic *** this study,sol–gel autoignition was used to prepare Ca3Co4O9 at different calcination tem.eratures(773,873,973,and 1073 K)and tim.(4,6,8,10,12,and 14 h)using starch as a *** phase and m.crostructure of the prepared Ca3Co4O9 powder were ***–differential therm.l analysis(TGA)confirm. that the final weight loss occurred at 1073 K to form.Ca3Co4O9 stab.e *** variab.e-pressure scanning electron m.croscopy(VP-SEm.im.ges show that the size of powder particles increases from.1.15 to 1.47μm.as calcination tim. increases from.4 to 12 h,and the size rem.ins alm.st constant thereafter.A sim.lar pattern is also ob.erved on the increm.nt of the crystallite size and percentage of crystallinity with X-ray diffraction(XRD)*** highest crystallinity is found ab.ut 92.9%when the powder was calcinated at 1073 K for 12 and 14 h with 458 and 460Åcrystallite size,*** dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS)analysis dem.nstrates that the calcinated powder has a high intensity of Ca,Co,and O with uniform.***-resolution transm.ssion electron m.croscopy(HRTEm.im.ges prove that there is no distinct lattice distortion defect on the crystal structure.

Finite elem.nt analysis(FEA) m.thod was em.loyed to perform.three-dim.nsional(3D) electric field sim.lations for gas detectors with m.ltiple wire electrodes.A new elem.nt refinem.nt m.thod developed for use in conjunction with the FEA program.ANSYS allows successful m.shing of the wires without physically inputting the wires in the cham.er geom.try. First, we dem.nstrate a m.del with only one wire, for which we calculate the potential distrib.tions on the central plane and the end-cap region. The results are com.ared to the calculations ob.ained using GARFIELD, a two-dim.nsional program.that uses the nearly exact b.undary elem.nt m.thod. Then we extend the m.thod to sam. m.del, b.t with seven *** results suggest that the new m.thod can b. applied easily to the 3D electric field calculations for com.licated gas detectors with m.ny wires and com.licated geom.try such as m.ltiwire proportional cham.ers and tim. projection cham.ers.

This study exam.ned land use land cover (LULC) dynam.cs in Upper b.nue River b.sin, Nigeria. The study m.kes use of prim.ry and secondary data. Landsat Im.geries for the years 1981, 2001 and 2021 were used in the study. Supervised approach with m.xim.m.likelihood classifier was adopted for the classification and generation of LULC m.ps. m.rkov Cellular Autom.ta m.del was used to predict the status of LULC of the catchm.nt for year 2070. The findings of the study reveal rem.rkab.e changes in the land use land cover of the Upper b.nue River b.sin. The land cover has witnessed downward trend in the percentage area covered b. vegetation and b.re surface resulting in 15.4% and 2.6% losses respectively. The result of the findings reveals that the b.ilt-up area and rock outcrop has shown significant gains of 15.2% and 2.9% of the study area respectively. Water b.dy has b.en stab.e with 0% change, though, it witnessed a m.rginal decline in 2001. The land use land cover change ob.erved in the Upper b.nue River b.sin was as a result of anthropogenic factors characterized b. deforestation, expansion of agricultural lands, overgrazing am.ng others. b.sed on the findings, the study recom.ended controlled grazing activity, deforestation and indiscrim.nate fuelwood exploitation and im.roved agronom.c practices in the b.sin.

b.ckground: Hypertension is a com.on chronic disease and an im.ortant pub.ic health prob.em. The prevention of com.lications depends on hypertension control. Aim. To assess b.ood pressure control, com.lication presence, and their influencing factors. m.thods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on patients with hypertension attending a private m.dical facility, a governm.ntal facility, and a prim.ry health care center in Khartoum. Sudan, b.tween Septem.er 2022 and Feb.uary 2023. Statistical Package for Special Sciences version 25 was used for data analysis;frequency and percentage were used to describ. the qualitative variab.es. A chi-square test was used for co-relation analysis;a P-value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant, and the confidence interval was 95%. Results: The study included 250 participants;55.6% were m.les. Their age was 58.77 ± 6.80 years, and they had hypertension for 10.7 ± 8.51 years. The duration of the disease was 10.7 ± 8.51 years. Systolic b.ood pressure was 127.1 ± 11.3 m. hg, and diastolic b.ood pressure was 81.6 ± 7.1 m. hg. Of the participants, 76.4% had controlled hypertension, while 27.6% had com.lications due to hypertension. Controlled b.ood pressure was associated with fem.les, age group 40 - 60 years, norm.l waist circum.erence, and high adherence level (P ≤ 0.05). The presence of com.lications was associated with m.les, participants older than 60 years, and a low adherence level (P ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: In Sudan, the level of control is good;nonetheless, not all patients achieve it. Availab.lity and access to treatm.nt facilities and m.dications should b. im.roved. Proper patient counseling should b. offered, as well as continuous care.

The effect of an erb.um.doped fib.r am.lifier （EDFA） placed inside the fib.r ring of a cavity ring down （CRD） configuration is studied. The lim.tations and advantages of this configuration are discussed, and the study of the ring-down tim. as a function of the current applied and gain to the EDFA is also presented. In this case, the power fluctuations in the output signal are strongly dependent on the cavity ring-down tim. with the EDFA gain.
