The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)global public health emergency,has exposed the fragility of health *** to healthcare became a scarce commodity as healthcare providers and resource-poor populations became victims of the novel corona ***,this study focuses on Africa’s readiness to integrate telemedicine into the weak health systems and its adoption may help alleviate poor healthcare and poverty after *** conducted a narrative review through different search strategies in Scopus on January 20,2021,to identify available literature reporting implementation of various telemedicine modes in Africa from January 1,2011 to December 31,*** summarized 54 studies according to geographies,field,and implementation *** results show a willingness to adopt telemedicine in the resource-poor settings and hard-to-reach populations,which will bring relief to the inadequate healthcare systems and alleviate poverty of those who feel the burden of healthcare cost the *** adequate government financing,telemedicine promises to enhance the treating of communicable and non-communicable diseases as well as support health *** can also alleviate poverty among vulnerable groups and hard-to-reach communities in Africa with adequate government ***,given the lack of funding in Africa,the challenges in implementing telemedicine require global and national strategies before it can yield promising *** is especially true in regards to alleviating the multidimensionality of poverty in post-COVID-19 Africa.

In this letter,a titanium aluminum carbide(Ti_(3)AlC_(2))coated D-shaped fiber is proposed and demonstrated as a new saturable absorber(SA)for Q-switched laser pulse *** preparing the SA,the TiAlCpowder is dispersed in liquid polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)before the solution is dropped and left to dry onto a polished surface of D-shape *** SA is added to an erbium-doped fiber laser(EDFL)cavity to modulate the cavity loss for *** Q-switched laser is obtained at 1561 *** pulse width of the pulses can be varied between 7.4μs and 5.1μs with a corresponding repetition rate range from 41.26 k Hz to 54.35 k Hz,when the pump power is increased from 42.2 m W to 71.5 m *** 71.5 m W pump,the pulse energy is obtained at 70.3 n *** signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)of the fundamental frequency is recorded at 67 d B,which indicates the stability of the laser.

Recent economic growth and development have considerably raised energy consumption over the *** load prediction approaches become essential for effective planning,decision-making,and contract evaluation of the power *** order to achieve effective forecasting outcomes with minimumcomputation time,this study develops an improved whale optimization with deep learning enabled load prediction(IWO-DLELP)scheme for energy storage systems(ESS)in smart grid *** major intention of the IWO-DLELP technique is to effectually forecast the electric load in SG environment for designing proficient *** proposed IWO-DLELP model initially undergoes pre-processing in two stages namely min-max normalization and feature ***,partition clustering approach is applied for the decomposition of data into distinct clusters with respect to distance and objective ***,IWO with bidirectional gated recurrent unit(BiGRU)model is applied for the prediction of load and the hyperparameters are tuned by the use of IWO *** experiment analysis reported the enhanced results of the IWO-DLELP model over the recent methods interms of distinct evaluation measures.

This study explores strategies to develop highly efficient direct carbon fuel cells(DCFCs) by com-bining a solid-oxide fuel cell(SOFC) with a catalyst-aided carbon-gasification process. This system employs Cu/CeO 2 composites as both anodic electrodes and carbon additives in a cell of the type: carbon|Cu-CeO 2/YSZ/Ag|air. The study investigates the impact on in situ carbon-gasification and DCFC performance characteristics of catalyst addition and variation in the carrier gas used(inert He versus reactive CO2). The results indicate that cell performance is significantly improved by infusing the catalyst into the carbon feedstock and by employing CO2 as the carrier gas. At 800 ℃, the maxi-mum power output is enhanced by approximately 40% and 230% for carbon/CO2 and car-bon/catalyst/CO2 systems, respectively, compared with that of the carbon/He configuration. The increase observed when employing the catalyst and CO2 as the carrier gas can be primarily at-tributed to the pronounced effect of the catalyst on carbon-gasification through the re-verse-Boudouard reaction, and the subsequent in situ electro-oxidation of CO at the anode three-phase boundary.

Selected Heavy metals in Water and Sediments and Their Bioconcentrations in Plant (<i>Polygonum pulchrum</i>) in Sosiani River, Uasin Gishu County, Kenya

Heavy metals’ availability and accumulation along the food chain pose public health risks. Water, sediment and plant samples were collected from selected sampling sites along Sosiani River, Uasin Gishu County, Kenya. The sediment and plant samples were dried in the oven at 50°C to constant weight and digested in a mixture of acids according to standard procedures. The water samples, sediments and plants digests were analyzed for selected heavy metals using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (model AAS Variant 200). The site near the moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (mTRH) had the highest total heavy metals concentration in water: Cu (0.18 ± 0.04 ppm);Pb (0.46 ± 0.09 ppm) and Zn (0.70 ± 0.22 ppm) and sediments: Cu (1.62 ± 0.14 ppm);Pb (1.27 ± 0.17 ppm) and Zn (6.73 ± 0.88 ppm) respectively. Fractionation of heavy metals in sediments showed low percentage solubility (Cu 9.3%;Pb 8.5%;Zn 4.2%). Concentration of zinc in studied plants was highest (3.60 ± 0.63 ppm), with a bioconcentration factor of 15.1 based on soluble zinc fraction. This indicates that conditions in the study area show preferential zinc metal uptake in plants and may lead to accumulation in exposed plants posing Zn exposure risks along the food chain. Suggestions are made for monitoring of heavy metals in food crops and aquatic organisms such as fish in the study area.

mathematical model of the Dynamics of Rumor Propagation

In this study, we proposed a deterministic mathematical model that attempts to explain the propagation of a rumor using epidemiological models approach. The population is divided into four classes which consist of ignorant individuals, I(t), spreaders targeting community through media, m(t), spreaders targeting community through verbal communication, G(t) and stiflers, R(t). We explored existence of the equilibria and analyzed its stability. It was established that rumour-free equilibrium E0 is locally asymptotically stable if R0meaning rumor can seize spreading in a population, and unstable if R0>1 leads to new rumor spreading in the population. Numerical simulations of the dynamic model are carried out on the system to confirm the analytical results. We see that the dynamics of rumor spreading show similar behavior to that found in the dynamics of infectious diseases except that the spread depends on the classes of spreader.

Premature Rupture of membranes Characteristics, Determinants, and Outcomes of in Benghazi, Libya

Premature rupture of membranes (PROm) is a frequent phenomenon that occurs in about 4% - 7%. However, the associated sequent problems are proportionally high. Almost two thirds of PROm are spontaneous, common risk factor young mother, multiple pregnancy, genital tract infection, previous preterm delivery. The complications range from induction of labour, caesarean section, fetal pulmonary morbidity and even mortality. Objectives of the Study: To identify and quantify the risk factors and complications of premature rupture of membrane in pregnant women in Benghazi, Libya, 2012. material and methods: 100 pregnant women diagnosed as PROm were examined for the physical signs. Detailed gynaecological and obstetric history was reported. Laboratory investigations included cervical swabs and posterior fornix swabs under aseptic conditions Drugs including types of antibiotics, Dexamethasone and tocolytics were also included. Results: The mean age of 100 patients was 28.9 years. most of them, 66.1% of patients received antibiotis mostly Erythromycin. Dexamethasone was given for 32.1%. FTND accounted for 62% and PTND for 10% and Caesarean section was performed for 28%. The main indications for C/S were failed induction, in 50%, 11.8% were equally distributed between;macrosomia, previous scars, drained liquor, previous C/S, breech presentation. Only 1% of new born babies had complication. Conclusions and Recommendations: Further large studies should be done for more elaboration and analytical studies to quantify the strength of each risk factor. Strategy for management of PROm should be adopted for proper timing of induction, emergency caesarean intervention with ultimate goals of minimizing and or preventing maternal and fetal complications of disease.

Neuroprotective Effects of Caffeine on a maternally Separated Parkinsonian Rat model

Early-life stress has been shown to disrupt the programming of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis which may have severe consequences in the development of neurological disorders later on in life. Prolonged early-life stressful events produce an exaggerated stress hormone response in the adult offspring. Chronic stress and elevated corticosterone levels have been found to exaggerate functional deficits and accelerate loss of dopamine producing neurons in a rat model of Parkinson’s disease. We investigated the neuroprotective effects of caffeine on 6-OHDA lesioned rats that were exposed to maternal separation stress. We examined behaviour of animals before and after the infusion of 6-OHDA using the step and cylinder tests. We also measured dopamine concentration in the striatum, mitochondrial membrane potential in the striatum and the total antioxidant capacity in blood plasma. maternally separated rats displayed an impaired ability to initiate movement in the step test and a decreased percentage impaired limb use in the cylinder test. In the rats that received caffeine these motor deficits were ameliorated. maternal separation exaggerated the lesion caused by 6-OHDA injection. However, the neuroprotective effects of caffeine were evident in both the stressed and non-stressed rats as shown by the higher dopamine concentration and total antioxidant capacity on caffeine treated rats. maternally separated rats had higher mitochondrial membrane permeability when compared to the caffeine treated rats. We therefore conclude that caffeine ameliorated the neurodegeneration associated with 6-OHDA injection in maternally separated animals.
