In addition to the loss of motor function,~60% of patients develop pain after spinal cord *** cellular-molecular mechanisms are not well understood,but the data suggests that plasticity within the rostral,epicenter,and caudal penumbra of the injury site initiates a cellularmolecular interplay that acts as a rewiring mechanism leading to central neuropathic *** can lead to the formation of new connections triggering abnormal sensory *** excitatory glutamate transporters are responsible for the reuptake of extracellular glutamate which makes them a critical target to prevent neuronal hyperexcitability and *** previous studies showed a sexually dimorphic therapeutic window for spinal cord injury after treatment with the selective estrogen receptor modulator *** this study,we investigated the anti-allodynic effects of tamoxifen in male and female rats with spinal cord *** hypothesized that tamoxifen exerts anti-allodynic effects by increasing the expression of glutamate transporters,leading to reduced hyperexcitability of the secondary neuron or by decreasing aberrant *** and female rats received a moderate contusion to the thoracic spinal cord followed by subcutaneous slow-release treatment of tamoxifen or matrix pellets as a control(placebo).We used von Frey monofilaments and the“up-down method”to evaluate mechanical *** treatment decreased allodynia only in female rats with spinal cord injury revealing a sexdependent *** expression profile of glutamatergic transporters(excitatory amino acid transporter 1/glutamate aspartate transporter and excitatory amino acid transporter 2/glutamate transporter-1)revealed a sexual dimorphism in the rostral,epicenter,and caudal areas of the spinal cord with a pattern of expression primarily on *** rodents showed a significantly higher level of excitatory amino acid transporter-1 expression while male rodents showed increased

magnetic skyrmions are topological excitations of great promise for compact and efficient memory ***,to interface skyrmionics with electronic devices requires efficient and reliable ways of creating and destroying such *** this work,we unravel the microscopic mechanism behind ultrafast skyrmion generation by femtosecond laser pulses in transition metal thin *** employ a theoretical approach based on a two-band electronic model,and show that by exciting the itinerant electronic subsystem with a femtosecond laser ultrafast skyrmion nucleation can occur on a 100 fs *** combining numerical simulations with an analytical treatment of the strong s–d exchange limit,we identify the coupling between electronic currents and the localized d-orbital spins,mediated via Rashba spin–orbit interactions among the itinerant electrons,as the microscopic and central mechanism leading to ultrafast skyrmion *** results show that an explicit treatment of itinerant electron dynamics is crucial to understand optical skyrmion generation.

harnessing the enhanced light-matter coupling and quantum vacuum fluctuations resulting from mode volume compression in optical cavities is a promising route towards functionalizing quantum materials and realizing exotic states of ***,we extend cavity quantum electrodynamical materials engineering to correlated magnetic systems,by demonstrating that a Fabry-Pérot cavity can be used to control the magnetic state of the proximate quantum spin liquidα-RuCl_(3).Depending on specific cavity properties such as the mode frequency,photon occupation,and strength of the light-matter coupling,any of the magnetic phases supported by the extended Kitaev model can be *** particular,in the Thz regime,we show that the cavity vacuum fluctuations alone are sufficient to bringα-RuCl_(3) from a zigzag antiferromagnetic to a ferromagnetic *** external pumping of the cavity in the few photon limit,it is further possible to push the system into the antiferromagnetic Kitaev quantum spin liquid state.

Free vibration and buckling analysis of polymeric composite beams reinforced by functionally graded bamboo fbers

Natural fibers have been extensively researched as reinforcement materials in polymers on account of their environmental and economic advantages in comparison with synthetic fibers in the recent *** fibers are renowned for their good mechanical properties,abundance,and short cycle *** beams are one of the fundamental structural components and are susceptible to mechanical loads in engineering applications,this paper performs a study on the free vibration and buckling responses of bamboo fiber reinforced composite(BFRC)beams on the elastic *** different functionally graded(FG)layouts and a uniform one are the considered distributions for unidirectional long bamboo fibers across the *** elastic properties of the composite are determined with the law of *** hamilton’s principle,the governing equations of motion are *** generalized differential quadrature method(GDQm)is then applied to the equations to obtain the *** achieved outcomes exhibit that the natural frequency and buckling load values vary as the fiber volume fractions and distributions,elastic foundation stiffness values,and boundary conditions(BCs)and slenderness ratio of the beam ***,a comparative study is conducted between the derived analysis outcomes for BFRC and homogenous polymer beams to examine the effectiveness of bamboo fibers as reinforcement materials,demonstrating the significant enhancements in both vibration and buckling responses,with the exception of natural frequencies for cantilever beams on the Pasternak foundation with the FG-◇fiber ***,the obtained analysis results of BFRC beams are also compared with those for carbon nanotube reinforced composite(CNTRC)beams found in the literature,indicating that the buckling loads and natural frequencies of BFRC beams are lower than those of CNTRC beams.

In this paper we compare the wear behaviour of a vacuum-heat-treated ESR AISI m2 high-speed steel and the same steel that was vacuum heat treated in conjunction with a deep-cryogenic treatment at -196 °C. Four different tempering temperatures for the specimens austenized at the same austenitizing temperature were carefully selected to obtain various in-advance-determined combinations of the microstructures, the fracture toughness, KIc and the Rockwell-C hardness. Each of the eight specimens was therefore characterised by these microstructures and resulting material properties. The wear study was performed using a reciprocating sliding device under well-controlled contact conditions. Relatively high loads were used to provide enough wear for a comparison of the selected samples. A much harder and dissimilar model counter-material, i.e. silicon nitride ceramic, was used in order to avoid excessive wear of the counter samples and adhesion, which could occur in contacts with similar materials (metals/steels) under such high loads and in non-lubricated conditions. The wear behaviours were then compared and discussed in terms of these microstructures and the related properties. The differences in the wear resistance obtained in our investigation were as high as an order of magnitude. however, the beneficial effects are not a direct result of the type of the treatment, but relate to a proper combination of the resulting fracture toughness and the hardness. The more uniform and moderate values, which, however, tend to be obtained with a deep-cryogenic treatment, are beneficial to the high wear resistance of the selected high-speed steel.

Dynamic simulation of beam-like structure with a crack subjected to a random moving mass oscillator

In this paper, dynamic simulation of a beam-like structure with a transverse open crack subjected to a random moving mass oscillator is investigated. The simultaneous effect of a crack and a random oscillator has not been addressed up to now. The crack in the beam at different locations and with different depths is considered as one group of damage, each as an individual imperfection. In addition, bearing immobility is considered as another type of problem in the beam. mass, stiffness, damping and velocity of the oscillator are assumed to be random parameters. An improved perturbation technique is applied to reduce the simulation time. It was found that there is a maximum value of the variance of each uncertain parameter, in which the maximum reliability of the perturbation method can be achieved, and that this maximum value can be obtained by the Alpha-hilber monte-Carlo simulation method. The simulation results reveal that the mass and the velocity uncertainty cause high uncertainty in the deflection of the beam. Also, the pattern of the deflection is not affected by different random oscillator parameters, and as a result, the type of damage can be identified even with high uncertainty. moreover, the deflection in the nodes around the mid-span of the beam provides the best information regarding the imperfections, and consequently leads to the best sensor locations in an actual experiment.

Effect of substitution group on dielectric properties of 4h-pyrano [3,2-c] quinoline derivatives thin films

The AC electrical conductivity and dielectrical properties of 2-amino-6-ethyl-5-oxo-4-（3-phenoxyphenyl）-5,6-dihydro-4h-pyrano[3, 2-c]quinoline-3-carbonitrile（Ph-hPQ） and 2-amino-4-（2-chlorophenyl）-6-ethyl-5-oxo-5,6-dihydro-4h-pyrano [3, 2-c] quinoline-3-carbonitrile（Ch-hPQ） thin films were determined in the frequency range of 0.5 k hz–5 mhz and the temperature range of 290–443 K. The AC electrical conduction of both compounds in thin film form is governed by the correlated barrier hopping（CBh） mechanism. Some parameters such as the barrier height, the maximum barrier height, the density of charges, and the hopping distance were determined as functions of temperature and frequency. The phenoxyphenyl group has a greater influence on those parameters than the chlorophenyl group. The AC activation energies were determined at different frequencies and temperatures. The dielectric behaviors of Ph-hPQ and Ch-hPQ were investigated using the impedance spectroscopy technique. The impedance data are presented in Nyquist diagrams for different temperatures. The Ch-hPQ films have higher impedance than the Ph-hPQ films. The real dielectric constant and dielectric loss show a remarkable dependence on the frequency and temperature. The Ph-hPQ has higher dielectric constants than the Ch-hPQ.

Approximate energies and thermal properties of a position-dependent mass charged particle under external magnetic fields

We solve the Schrodinger equation with a position-dependent mass（PDm） charged particle interacted via the superposition of the morse-plus-Coulomb potentials and is under the influence of external magnetic and Aharonov–Bohm（AB） flux fields. The nonrelativistic bound state energies together with their wave functions are calculated for two spatially-dependent mass distribution functions. We also study the thermal quantities of such a system. Further, the canonical formalism is used to compute various thermodynamic variables for second choosing mass by using the Gibbs formalism. We give plots for energy states as a function of various physical parameters. The behavior of the internal energy, specific heat, and entropy as functions of temperature and mass density parameter in the inverse-square mass case for different values of magnetic field are shown.

In this paper, a novel parametric model-based decomposition method is proposed for structural health monitoring of time-varying structures. For this purpose, the advanced Functional-Series Time-dependent Auto Regressive moving Average （FS-TARmA） technique is used to estimate the parameters and innovation variance used in the parametric signal decomposition scheme. Additionally, a unique feature extraction and reduction method based on the decomposed signals, known as Latent Components （LCs）, is proposed. To evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method, numerical simulation and an experimental study in the laboratory were conducted on a time-varying structure, where various types of damage were introduced. The Fuzzy Expert System （FES） was used as a classification toot to demonstrate that the proposed method successfully identifies different structural conditions when compared with other methods based on non-reduced and ordinary feature extraction.
