Aims: to determine the prevalence of gingival recession and dentine hypersensitivity among the study population, and evaluate the distribution of dentine hypersensitivity among various types of teeth in mild, moderate and severe degrees of gingival recession. Relationship between the severity of gingival recession and dentine hypersensitivity was also evaluated. materials and methods: Clinical examination was conducted on six hundred and seventy-six patients (283 males and 393 females). Their ages ranged from 18 to 74 years old (mean 35.4, SD = 11.2). A valid and reliable questionnaire was filled by the participated patients. Results: The prevalence of gingival recession was 79.0%, and the prevalence of dentine hypersensitivity within the patients with gingival recession was 23.6%. The most common teeth affected by dentine hypersensitivity were the lower incisors. Dentine hypersensitivity was more commonly found in teeth with mild recession. Conclusion: Increased gingival recession does not necessarily mean increased incidence of dentine hypersensitivity.

Background: Vaccinations for animals are crucial for food production, animal welfare, public health, and animal health. They are an affordable way to stop animal sickness, increase food production efficiency, and lessen or stop the spread of zoonotic diseases to humans. Animal vaccines that are both safe and efficacious are vital to modern culture. The vaccine should induce a strong, protective and prolonged immune response against the antigenic factor. In order to achieve these goals, novel vaccination techniques and an efficient adjuvant are required to render the vaccine immunogenically protective and trigger a strong immune response. Aim: Our study aims to promote and enhance the immunogenicity against RVF virus disease through lyophilized inactivated RVF vaccine through induction of early cellular, high and prolonged humeral immunity in vaccinated animals using cabopol as stabilizer and Saponin or normal saline as a diluent at time of vaccination. moreover, manufacturing of these vaccines is easy to be done. Results: The gained results revealed that RVF freeze-dried vaccine with Carbopol that reconstituted using Saponin elicited better immune response than that reconstituted using normal saline (NaCl). The cell mediated immune response as represented by lymphocyte blastogenesis and phagocytic activity were markedly increased with high levels when we used Saponin as a diluent than that in group vaccinated with vaccine diluted with NaCl, on the other side the humeral immune response in group vaccinated using the Saponin as diluent is more detected and stayed within the protective level till the end of 11th month post vaccination (1.5 TCID50) while the immune response induced after using normal saline as a diluent stayed within the protective level till the end of 10th month post vaccination (1.8 TCID50). Conclusion: The use of Saponin as a diluent for reconstitution of the freeze dried RVF vaccine is preferable than the

Low and medium carbon steels were aluminized by the pack aluminizing technique using halideactivated pure-Al and Fe-Al packs. The effect of mixture composition, aluminizing temperatureand time and C content of the steel substrate on the structure and thickness of the aluminidelayer, and on the oxidation resistance was investigated. The optimum oxidation resistance canbe achieved with a low carbon steel substrate when the intermetallic phases Fe3Al and FeAlform the surface of the aluminide layer. In this case, the Al concentration at the surface of thealuminide coating is at least ≥15 wt pct. Formation of high Al concentration phases (FeAl3 andFe2Al5) during aluminizing should be avoided as they tend to embrittle the aluminide layer andreduce its oxidation resistance.

Carbonate rocks are important hydrocarbon reservoirs around the globe and in Southeast Asia a key one,particularly,is the Central Luconia *** the internal characteristics,distribution,geometry and lateral extent of these rocks is essential for exploration and production *** work on miocene carbonate reservoir facies,north of Bintulu,offshore Sarawak includes qualitative and quantitative analysis of photomicrographs and reservoir quality,considering especially ***,these carbonates are known as Cycles IV and V and are represented by eight major facies types(F-1 to F-8).They comprise:coated grain packstone(F-1)(av.Ф=3%,***=0.5 m D)(av=Average;?=total porosity,and Kh=permeability);massive coral lime grainstone(F-2)(av.Ф=14.7%,***=6 m D);oncolite lime grain-dominated packstone(F-3)(av.Ф=10%,***=4 m D);skeletal lime/dolo-packstone(F-4)(av.Ф=15%,***=4.6 m D);coral(platy)lime mud-dominated packstone(F-5)(av.Ф=4%,***=0.5 m D);coral(branching)lime-dominated pack-grainstone(F-6)(av.Ф=15%,***=1 m D);cross-bedded skeletal lime packstone(F-7)(av.Ф=20%,***=2 m D);and bioturbated carbonate mudstone/chalk(F-8)(av.Ф=8%,***=0.8 m D).Study of thin sections reveals that red algae,foraminifera,and corals are the dominant fossil components with a minor admixture of skeletal fragments of echinoderms,bivalves,bryozoans,and green *** parameters,e.g.,facies characterization,petrography,porosity–permeability value,and microporosity value were utilized to obtain a reliable reservoir *** microporosity value was quantified using digital image analysis software and is significant for recognition of good reservoir *** of the presence of microporosity against the total porosity in the carbonate rocks has improved the correlation coefficient(R2)value,which has increased from 0.51 to 0.82.

A well-known ternary plastic explosive,Czech Semtex 1H,contains a mixture of PETN and RDX softened by *** this work,BCHmX was used to replace PETN in Semtex 1H to form Sem-BC+*** addition,another mixture based on BCHmX and HmX as energetic fillers bonded by the polymeric matrix of Semtex 1H(Sem-BC+HmX)was *** particle size distribution of each individual explosive was determined to obtain the optimum mixing *** and impact sensitivities were *** velocity of detonation was reported practically and the detonation properties were calculated by EXPLO5 *** explosive strength of each sample was measured by the ballistic mortar *** conclusion confirms that the velocity of detonation of Sem-BC+HmX was the highest in comparison with the prepared ***-BC+RDX has the least impact and frictions ***-BC+RDX has higher detonation velocity,detonation properties and explosive strength than Semtex *** of BCHmX in Semtex 1H as a replacement for PETN is the candidate to produce a high performance advanced Czech plastic explosive.

Gamma irradiation-induced effects on the properties of TiO_2 on fluorine-doped tin oxide prepared by atomic layer deposition

The effect of gamma irradiation with different doses(25–75 kGy) on TiO_2 thin films deposited by atomic layer deposition has been studied and characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),photoluminescence measurements,ultraviolet–visible(UV–Vis) spectroscopy,and impedance *** XRD results for the TiO_2 films indicate an enhancement of crystallization after irradiation,which can be clearly observed from the increase in the peak intensities upon increasing the gamma irradiation *** UV–Vis spectra demonstrate a decrease in transmittance,and the band gap of the TiO_2 thin films decreases with an increase in the gamma irradiation *** Nyquist plots reveal that the overall charge-transfer resistance increases upon increasing the gamma irradiation *** equivalent circuit,series resistance,contact resistance,and interface capacitance are measured by simulation using Z-view *** present work demonstrates that gamma irradiation-induced defects play a major role in the modification of thestructural,electrical,and optical properties of the TiO_2 thin films.

Analysis and Characterization of Pore System and Grain Sizes of Carbonate Rocks from Southern Lebanon

Carbonate rocks are common in many parts of the world, including the Eastern mediterranean, where they host significant groundwater supplies and are widely used as building and ornamental stones. The porosity of carbonate rocks plays a critical role in fluid storage and retrieval. The pore structure connectivity, in particular, controls many properties of geological formations, as well as the relationships between the properties of individual minerals and the bulk properties of the rock. To study the relationships between porosity, rock properties, pore structure, pore size, and their impact on reservoir characteristics, 46 carbonate rock samples were collected from four stratigraphic sections exposed near Sidon, South Lebanon. The studied carbonate rocks are related to marine deposits of different ages(e.g., Upper Cretaceous, Eocene, and Upper miocene). In order to understand the pore connectivity, the mICP(mercury injection capillary pressure) technique was conducted on ten representative samples. Results from the SEm analysis indicate the dominance of very fine and fine pore sizes, with various categories ranging in diameter from 0.1 to10 μm. The mICP data revealed that the pore throat radii vary widely from 0.001 to 1.4 μm, and that all samples are dominated by micropore throats. The grain size analysis indicated that the studied rocks have significant amounts of silt-and clay-size grains with respect to the coarser ‘sand-size’ particles, suggesting a high proportion of microporosity. Obtained results, such as the poorly-sorted nature of grains, high microporosity, and the high percentage of micropore throats, justify the observed low mean hydraulic radius, the high entry pressure, and the very low permeability of the studied samples. These results suggest that the carbonate rocks near Sidon(south of Lebanon) are possibly classified as non-reservoir facies.
