BACKGrOUND recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)following liver transplantation(LT)has a devastating influence on recipients’survival;however,the risk of recur-rence is not routinely *** stratification is vital with a long LT waiting time,as that could influence the recurrence despite strict listing *** This study aims to identify predictors of recurrence and develop a novel risk pre-diction score to forecast HCC recurrence following *** A retrospective review of LT for HCC recipients at University Hospitals Bir-mingham between July 2011 and February *** and multivariate analyses were performed to identify recurrence predictors,based on which the novel SImAp500(satellite nodules,increase in size,microvascular invasion,AFp>500,poor differentiation)risk score was *** 234 LTs for HCC were performed with a median follow-up of 5.3 *** developed in 25 patients(10.7%).On univariate analyses,rETrEAT score>3,α-fetoprotein(AFp)at listing 100-500 and>500,bridging,increased tumour size between imaging at the listing time and explant histology,increase in the size of viable tumour between listing and explant,presence of satellite nodules,micro-and macrovascular invasion on explant and poor differentiation of tumours were significantly associated with recurrence,based on which,the SImAp500 risk score is *** SImAp500 demonstrated an excellent predictive ability(c-index=0.803)and outper-formed the rETrEAT score(c-index=0.73).SImAp500 is indicative of the time to disease *** SImAp500 risk score identifies the LT recipients at risk of HCC *** stratification allows patient-centric post-transplant surveillance *** validation of the score is recommended.

Influence of barley inclusion method and protease supplementation on growth performance,nutrient utilisation,and gastrointestinal tract development in broiler starters

The influence of the method of barley inclusion(fine,coarse and whole barley)in a wheat-based diet and protease supplementation(0 and 0.20 g/kg)on growth performance,nutrient utilisation and gastrointestinal tract development of broilers(d 1 to 21)was evaluated in a 32 factorial *** barley(WB)grains were ground in a hammer mill to pass through the screen sizes of 2.5 and 8.0 mm to achieve fine(FB)and coarse(CB)barley particle sizes,respectively.A total of 288,one-day-old male broilers were allotted to 36 cages(6 cages/treatment;8 birds/cage).There was no significant(p>0.05)interaction between barley inclusion method and protease for any growth performance or nutrient utilisation *** fed diets containing CB and WB showed higher(pry matter,nitrogen,calcium,gross energy,and ileal digestible energy compared to those fed FB *** to the birds fed FB diets,feed per gain was lower(prds fed diets made of *** digestibility of the birds fed CB was higher(presulted in heavier(prds but reduced(prd *** protease,however,had no effects(p>0.05)on growth performance and nutrient utilisation,most likely due to the well balanced digestible amino acids and high inherent digestibility of protein in the basal diet,and/or the presence of exogenous carbohydrase and *** conclusion,the present results showed that the inclusion of coarsely ground and whole barley in a wheat-based diet can enhance nutrient and energy utilisation and is beneficial to the growth performance of young broilers.

Ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group calculations for neutron-rich p,Cl,and K isotopes

Neutron-rich p,Cl,and K isotopes,particularly those with neutron numbers of approximately N=28,have attracted extensive experimental and theoretical *** utilize the ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group approach,based on chiral nucleon-nucleon and three-nucleon forces,to investigate the exotic properties of these *** calculations of the low-lying spectra are performed.A key finding is the level inversion between 3/2^(+)_(1)and 1/2^(+)_(1)states in odd-A isotopes,attributed to the inversion ofπ0xod3/2 andπls1/2 single-particle *** ab initio calculations,which incorporate the three-nucleon forces,correlate closely with existing experimental *** calculations of effective proton single-particle energies provide deeper insights into the shell evolution for Z=14 and 16 *** results indicate that the three-body force plays important roles in the shell evolution for Z=14 and 16 sub-shells with neutron numbers ranging from 20 to ***,systematic ab initio calculations are conducted for the low-lying spectra of odd-odd *** results correspond with experimental data and provide new insights for future research into these isotopes up to and beyond the drip line.

The widespread uptake of different machine perfusion(mp)strategies for liver transplant has been driven by an effort to minimize graft *** to the cholangiocytes during the liver donation,preservation,or early posttransplant period may result in stricturing of the biliary tree and inadequate biliary *** problem continues to trouble clinicians,and may have catastrophic consequences for the graft and *** injury,as a result of compromised hepatic artery flow,is a well-known cause of biliary strictures,sepsis,and graft ***,very similar lesions can appear with a patent hepatic artery and these are known as ischemic type biliary lesions(ITBL)that are attributed to microcirculatory dysfunction rather than main hepatic arterial *** the warm and cold ischemic period duration appear to influence the onset of *** of the commonly used mp techniques deliver oxygen to the graft cells,and therefore may minimize the cholangiocyte injury and subsequently reduce the incidence of *** clinical experience and published evidence grows for these modalities,the impact they have on ITBL rates is important to *** this review,the evidence for the three commonly used mp strategies(abdominal normothermic regional perfusion[A-Nrp],hypothermic oxygenated perfusion[HOpE],and normothermic machine perfusion[Nmp])for ITBL prevention has been critically *** with ITBL definitions used in trials,coupled with variations in techniques of mp,make interpretation ***,the evidence suggests that both HOpE and A-Nrp prevent ITBL in donated after circulatory death grafts compared to cold *** evidence for ITBL prevention in donor after brain death grafts with any mp technique is weak.

The ground-state mass excess of the T_(z)=−2 drip-line nucleus ^(22)Al is measured for the first time as 18103(10)keV using the newly-developed Bρ-defined isochronous mass spectrometry method at the cooler storage ring in *** new mass excess value allowed us to determine the excitation energies of the two low-lying 1+states in ^(22)Al with significantly reduced uncertainties of 51 *** compared to the analogue states in its mirror nucleus ^(22)F,the mirror energy differences of the two 1^(+)states in the ^(22)Al-^(22)F mirror pair are determined to be−625(51)keV and−330(51)*** excitation energies and mirror energy differences are used to test the state-of-the-art ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group calculations with four sets of interactions derived from the chiral effective field *** mechanism leading to the large mirror energy differences is investigated and attributed to the occupation of theπs_(1/2) orbital.

Struvite recovery from Swine Waste Biogas Digester Effluent through a Stainless Steel Device under Constant pH Conditions

Objective To investigate the struvite precipitation under constant and non-constant pH conditions and to test a stainless steel device under different operating regimes to maximize the recovery of struvite. methods The molar ratio of NH4^＋： mg^2＋ pO43 was adjusted to 1： 1.2：1.2 and pH was elevated to 9.0. The absorbance measurement was used to trace the process of struvite crystallization. Wastewater and precipitate analysis was done by standard analytical methods. results The pH constant experiment reported a significantly higher struvite precipitation （24.6±0.86 g） than the non-constant pH experiment （19.8±1.86 g）. The SAr ranged from 5.6 to 8.2 g m^-2h^-1 to 3.6-4.8 g m^-2h^-1 in pH constant and non-constant experiments, respectively. The highest struvite deposit on the device was found in regime 3 followed by in regimes 2 and 4. The highest pO4^3- （97.2%） and NH4^＋（71%） removal was reported in the r1 regime. None of the influent Cu^2＋ or Zn^2＋ was precipitated on the device. Conclusion A higher struvite yield is evident in pH constant experiments. moreover, the stainless steel device facilitates the isolation of heavy metal free pure （around 96%） struvite from swine waste biogas digester effluent contaminated with Cu^2＋ and Zn^2＋ and the highest yield is attainable with the device operating at 50 rpm with agitation by a magnetic stirrer.

Acute pancreatitis (Ap) is a serious inflammatory disease with rising incidence both in the adult and pediatric populations. It has been shown that mitochondrial injury and energy depletion are the earliest intracellular events in the early phase of Ap. moreover, it has been revealed that restoration of intracellular ATp level restores cellular functions and defends the cells from death. We have recently shown in a systematic review and meta-analysis that early enteral feeding is beneficial in adults; however, no reviews are available concerning the effect of early enteral feeding in pediatric Ap. In this minireview, our aim was to systematically analyse the literature on the treatmentof acute pediatric pancreatitis. The preferred reporting items for systematic review(prISmA-p) were followed, and the question was drafted based on participants, intervention, comparison and outcomes: p: patients under the age of twenty-one suffering from acute pancreatitis; I: early enteral nutrition (per os and nasogastric- or nasojejunal tube started within 48 h); C: nil per os therapy; O: length of hospitalization, need for treatment at an intensive care unit, development of severe Ap, lung injury (including lung oedema and pleural effusion), white blood cell count and pain score on admission. Altogether, 632 articles (pub med: 131; EmBASE: 501) were found. After detailed screening of eligible papers, five of them met inclusion criteria. Only retrospective clinical trials were available. Due to insufficient information from the authors, it was only possible to address length of hospitalization as an outcome of the study. Our mini-meta-analysis showed that early enteral nutrition significantly(SD = 0.806, p = 0.034) decreases length of hospitalization compared with nil per os diet in acute pediatric pancreatitis.
