The required treatment and monitoring of contaminants in wastewater reinforces the development of low-cost adsorbents/chemosensors,introducing advantages relative to the detection/removal of toxic metals and ***,it is reported a two-step process of fabrication of fluorescent carbon dots via the hydrothermal treatment of amino acids for the following encapsulation in electrospun *** prominent anionic behavior of electrospun fibers of Eudragit L100 was explored for adsorption of cationic dyes(methylene blue and crystal violet)-with the prevailing electrostatic interaction of parts being favored by the formation of monolayers on the surface of *** the other hand,the controlled release of carbon dots(cDs)from fibers to the reactor can be explored for a second application:the nitrogen ligands from released glycine-based carbon dots can be explored to indicate the presence of metal ions in aqueous *** experiment resulted in a quenching in the fluorescence of the cDs in order of 90%in the emission of particles in the response of the presence of Fe^(3+) ions,characterizing a promising perspective for this experimental system.

Two media bed （gravel and Filtralite NR） were tested in a mesocosm to evaluate the removal of organic matter （as chemical oxygen demand （cOD））, ammonia （NH4-N）, nitrite, nitrate and solid matter （as total suspended solids （TSS）） for a synthetic wastewater （acetate-based） and a domestic wastewater. The use of Filtralite allowed average removal rates （6--16.8 g cOD/（m^2·day）, 0.8-1.1 g NH4-N/（m^2·day） and 3.1 g TSS/（m^2·day）） and removal efficiencies （65%-93%, 57%-85% and 78% for cOD, NH4-N and TSS, respectively）, higher than that observed in the experiments with gravel. The applied loads of cOD, ammonia, nitrate and TSS seem to influence the respective removal rates but only for the treatment of domestic wastewater with nigher correlation coefficients for Filtralite. Regardless the type of media bed and the type of wastewater, nitrate was completely removed for nitrogen loading rates up to 1.3 g NO3-N/（m^2·day）. There was no evidence of the influence of nitrate loads on the removal of organic matter.

The relationships between climate conditions and wood density in tropical forests are still poorly *** quantify spatial dependence of wood density in the state of minas Gerais(mG,Brazil),map spatial distribution of density,and correlate density with climate variables,we extracted data from the Forest Inventory of minas Gerais for 1988 trees scaled throughout the territory and measured wood density of discs removed from the *** variables were extracted from the database of the Ecological-Economic Zoning of minas *** spatial analysis,tree densities were measured at 44 georeferenced sampling *** data were subjected to exploratory analysis,variography,cross-validation,model selection,and ordinary *** relationships between wood density and environmental variables were calculated using dispersion matrices,linear correlation,and *** density proved to be highly spatially dependent,reaching a correlation of 96%,and was highly continuous over a distance of 228 *** distribution of wood density followed a continuous gradient of 514-659 kg m^(−3),enabling corre-lation with environment *** was correlated with mean annual precipitation(−0.57),temperature(0.63),and evapotranspiration(0.83).Geostatistical methods proved useful in predicting wood density in native tropical forests with different climate *** results confirmed the sensitivity of wood density to climate change,which could affect future carbon stock in forests.

AIm： To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration （EUS-FNA） for pancreatic solid tumors larger or smaller than 3 cm, and cystic lesions.mETHODS： From January/1997 to december/2006, 611 patients with pancreatic tumors were subjected to EUSFNA. The final diagnosis was obtained either by surgery （356 cases） or after a mean clinical follow-up of 11.8 mo in the remaining patients.RESULTS： There were 405 solid tumors, 189 cystic lesions and 17 mixed. Pancreatic specimens for cytological assessment were successfully obtained by EUS-FNA in 595 （97.4%） cases. There were 352 （57.6%） malignancies and 259 （42.4%） benign tumors. Among the malignancies, pancreatic adenocarcinomas accounted for 67% of the lesions. Overall, the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values, and accuracy of EUS-FNA were, respectively, 78.4%, 99.2%, 99.3%, 77.2% and 87.2%. Specifically for solid tumors, the same parameters for neoplasms larger and smaller than 3 cm were, respectively, 78.8% ys 82.4%, 100% ys 98.4%, 100% vs 99%, 54.8% vs 74.1% and 83.1% vs 87.8%. For cystic lesions, the values were, respectively, 72.2%, 99.3%, 97.5%, 91% and 92.2%.cONcLUSION： EUS-FNA can be used to sample pancreatic tumors in most patients. Even though the negative predictive value is inadequate for large solid tumors, the results are rather good for small solid tumors, especially concerning the sensitivity, negative predictive value and diagnostic accuracy. Among all pancreatic lesions, EUS-FNA for cystic lesions can reveal the best negative predictive value and diagnostic accuracy, both higher than 90%.

BAcKGROUND： Fibromyalgia （FmS） is a syndrome characterized by chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain, whose etiology is not completely understood. Different therapeutic approaches have been used with inconsistent results. This observation does not invalidate the continued search for alternative treatments aimed at improving quality of life （QoL） in FmS. OBJEcTIVE： This study compared three classica acupuncture （Ac）, electroacupuncture （EAc） and promotion of QoL in FmS patients. traditional chinese medicine （Tcm） therapies： moxibustion （mX） in the management of pain and deSIGN, SETTING, PARTIcIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS： A preliminary, group-assigned, comparative study enrolled 30 women, mean age （46.90_＋9.24） years （range 20-60 years）, who met the 1990 American college of Rheumatology criteria for FmS diagnosis and a pain-pressure threshold （PPT）〈 4 kg/cm2. The study was conducted in a teaching tertiary-care medical institution from may 2010 through April 2012. Ac, EAc and mX were delivered for 30 min, once a week, for 8 weeks, bilaterally at Neiguan （Pc6）, Hegu （LI4）, Yanglingquan （GB34）, Sanyinjiao （SP6） and Taichong （LR3） acupoints. mAIN OUTcOmE mEASURES： Each week, immediately before treatment and after treatment, subjects were tested for PPTs, Wong-Baker Faces Pain Scale （WBFPS; for pain intensity） and medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short Form Health Survey （SF-36： for QoL）. RESULTS： There was no significant improvement in pain or reduction of tender points in any of the groups studied, at the end of the 8th session. Significant improvement of QoL was perceived in vitality （after Ac treatment） and in mental health （after EAc and mX treatments）. cONcLUSION： Tcm therapies （Ac, EAc and mX） promoted an improvement in the QoL in two areas （vitality and mental health） in FmS women. Further large-scale clinical trials are required to confirm this effect.

This critical review of the literature shows that there is a close link between the microbiome,the gut,and the brain in Parkinson's *** vagus nerve,the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system,is involved in the regulation of immune response,digestion,heart rate,and control of *** can detect microbiota metabolites through its afferents,transferring this gut information to the central nervous *** and clinical studies have shown the important role played by the gut microbiome and gut-related factors in disease development and progression,as well as treatment *** findings suggest that the gut microbiome may be a valuable target for new therapeutic strategies for Parkinson's *** studies are needed to better understand the underlying biology and how this axis can be modulated for the patient's benefit.
