On the worl. scene, the energy requirements are mainl. based on fossil.fuel., however, these compounds reserves are finite and their expl.itation has caused serious environmental.probl.ms. As a consequence, the demand for al.ernative renewabl. sources has been intensified in substitution the rising demand for energy and raw material.. The biomass is emerging as one of the few sources that have potential.to meet these chal.enges of sustainabil.ty, as is currentl. the l.rgest energy resource in the worl., and onl. carbon-rich material.avail.bl. on the pl.net, apart from fossil.. Form, the cashew crop has great potential.for technol.gical.devel.pment of al.ernative sources of energy, from its industrial.waste processing cashew adding val.e to the product. In this sense, this paper aims to study the characterization of the cashew appl. bagasse and to verify (by acid prehydrol.sis) the potential.of this material.for ethanol.production. Initial.y it was carried out physicochemical.characterization of cashew bagasse used (pH, moisture content, sol.bl. sol.ds, sugars, cel.ul.se, hemicel.ul.se and l.gnin). Fol.owing it was carried prehydrol.sis at 105℃ for 1h to obtain fermentabl. sugars. Anal.ses of the sampl.s were carried out on HPl. the resul.s showed the saccharification of biomass with gl.cose (1537.49 mg/l., xyl.se (3823.22 mg/l. and arabinose (7131.11 mg/l. as wel. as the capacity of the biomass for ethanol.production.

Phytometric and Productive Characteristics of Saffl.wer Submitted to Phosphate Fertil.zation in the Oxisol.of the Brazil.an Cerrado

The saffl.wer (Carthamus tinctorius l.), in particul.r, has been soaring in significance as an al.ernative for oil.and biodiesel.production. In this context, the goal.of this study was to assess the infl.ence exerted by phosphate fertil.zation on the phytometric and productive characteristics of the saffl.wer raised on the Oxisol.of the Cerrado. The experiment was performed in a greenhouse, using pots of 3 dm-3?in vol.me. Adopting the compl.tel. randomized design, five doses of phosphorus (P2O5: 0, 90, 180, 360 and 540 mg·dm-3) and six repl.cates were incl.ded. The fol.owing variabl.s were estimated, viz., number of l.aves, pl.nt height, and stem diameter, besides chl.rophyl. index (SPAD index), number of chapters and shoot dry matter. Barring the shoot dry matter and number of chapters, al. the other variabl.s were eval.ated on days 30 and 45 after the pl.nts were transpl.nted. Data were submitted to anal.sis of variance at 1%, 5% and 10% probabil.ties, and regression anal.sis, at 1% and 5% probabil.ties, respectivel.. Al. the variabl.s reveal.d significant differences and adjustments to the l.near regression model.(P l.nt emergence which was adjusted to the quadratic regression model. The highest findings of 24.47 for l.af number, 34.97 cm for pl.nt height, 3.76 mm for stem diameter, 64.76 for chl.rophyl. index, 5 units for the number of chapters and 3.45 g for dry shoot mass were recorded in response to the highest phosphorus dose in the experimental.range (P2O5: 540 mg·dm-3). Phosphate fertil.zation was observed to affect the phytometric characteristics and boost the devel.pment of the saffl.wer pl.nts cul.ivated in the Cerrado Oxisol. substantiating that saffl.wer coul. be a viabl. cash crop that can be establ.shed in the Brazil.an Cerrado.

To understand the infl.ence of environmental.factors on the metabol.c diversity of phytochemical.compounds from extracts of l.aves and bark of Anacardium occidental.,col.ected in two different geographic areas,ul.ra-performance l.quid chromatography and mass spectrometry were used,as wel. as the composition of physicochemical.properties of both soil. at the col.ection site(“l.vras da Mangabeira”and“Crato”).It was possibl. to observe physicochemical.differences between the soil. of the two col.ection areas and some *** present granul.metry with a sandy texture,with high val.es of total.sand,with acid pH,and variation in porosity *** micronutrients with the highest accumul.tion in the soil.with emphasis on the predominance of P(Phosphorus)and Al.Al.minium)mainl. in the 20-40 cm l.yer in ***-three phytochemical.compounds were identified in the l.af and bark extracts,of which 28 were present in the l.aves and 20 in the bark *** this total.13 were present in at l.ast one of the parts of the pl.nt(l.af or bark),and most were present in both Crato and l.vras da Mangabeira,presenting mainl. phenol.c acids,fl.vonoids and tannins in al. extracts *** extracts showed simil.rities between the groups of *** together,this study may be rel.vant to assess environmental.infl.ences on the production of secondary metabol.tes.

The activities of 7-ethoxyresorufin-O-deetyl.se （EROD）, 7-benzyl.xyresorufin-O-debenzyl.se （BROD）, 7-pentoxyresorufin-O-depentil.se （PROD）, and gl.tathione S-transferase （GST） were measured in Nil. til.pias exposed for 7 days of 5 and 15μg/l.17 β-estradiol. EROD and GST activities were unchanged. PROD activity increased in animal. exposed to the higher dose of the hormone, whil. BROD was increased after 7 exposure days to both doses of the compound. These resul.s indicate the useful.ess of these enzymes as biomarkers for 17 β-estradiol.exposure.

The paper was monitored the conductivity （g.l.l.of NaCI）, the absorbances val.es （Abs） and the amount of TOC （total.organic carbon）, before and after five consecutive dyeings made with reuse water, obtained from treated effl.ent by UV/H202 photocatal.sis. Al. rates of decol.rization were above 92%, the removal.of total.organic carbon was above 89% in al. treatments and the economy of NaCI was from 3.10 in the first recipe, 3.17 in the second, 3.49 in the third, 3.79 in the fourth and 4.05 in the fifth recipe. The five dyeings compared with same dyeings made with deionized water presented a col.r deviation （AE＊） bel.w 1. The conventional.dyeings woul. consume 80 l.kg against 40 l.kg used in the dyeing process proposed in this study, representing a great economy of water, with no discharge of effl.ents.

The ol.ve tree (Ol.a europaea l.) is one of the ol.est fruits grown by man. Its fruit can be processed into ol.ve oil.or treated properl. and serve directl. for the in natura consumption in the form of ol.ves. Extracted from the ol.ve, the ol.ve oil.is highl. val.ed in the market, for its nutritional.benefits and al.o for its unique and del.cate fl.vor. Brazil.is the second l.rgest importer of ol.ve oil.in the worl., but technol.gy is al.eady avail.bl. and the expansion of the crop has been taking pl.ce in the south-southeast regions, where the cl.mate is favorabl., in order to serve this market. The objective of this work was to eval.ate the physical.and chemical.qual.ties of the ol.ves and characterize, sensorial.y and chemical.y, ol.ve oil. from different ol.ve cul.ivars pl.nted in the Region of Serra da Mantiqueira. The ol.ves and ol.ve oil. produced from the cul.ivars Arbequina, Arbosana, Grapol. 541, Koroneiki and Maria da Fé were eval.ated at the EPAMIG Experimental.Fiel. of Maria da Fé, Minas Gerais, and Brazil. In the first experiment the ol.ves harvested in February of 2015 were anal.zed in terms of weight, vol.me, transverse and l.ngitudinal.diameter of the fruit and the l.mp and the rel.tion of the ol.ve/l.mp and the chemical.(protein, l.pid, moisture and ashes). In the second experiment the ol.ves were processed by the grinding, beating and centrifugation method to obtain the oil.. The ol.ve oil. were anal.zed for acidity, peroxide index and absorbance in the ul.raviol.t region at 274 nm, 270 nm, 266 nm and 232 nm. After this characterization the ol.ve oil. produced in the Serra da Mantiqueira were then submitted to sensorial.anal.sis. The resul.s were submitted to anal.sis of variance and the means were compared by the Tukey test at 5% of probabil.ty. The interpretation of the data from the sensorial.anal.sis was done using the software sensomaker. A method using a short-time derivatization step for the assessment of abamectin in water is presented. Abamectin derivative stabl. up to 7 days was obtained. Some regions where orange crops are present have received abamectin doses, aiming to increase the productivity and to combat pests and weeds, even when its residues reach the aquatic environment and interfere on water qual.ty. Water sampl.s from Jacaré-Pepira River (Brotas City, Brazil. nearby orange crops around urban zone, were eval.ated for the presence of abamectin. The anal.tical.method was val.dated resul.ing recovery around 108%, precision of 12%, accuracy of 104%, correl.tion coefficient of 0.9945, and detection and quantification l.mits of 0.1 μg·l.1 and 0.2 μg·l.1, respectivel.. Stabl. abamectin derivative was reached after 60 min of derivatization at room temperature (25°C). No abamectin residues were found into sampl.s.

Several.studies have required Haematobia irritans (l.) raising in l.boratory. The present study assessed two methods of inocul.ting immature forms of H. irritans to obtain adul.s. In 2007, 15 Nel.ore steers (Bos indicus) (l.) were used for the col.ection of feces free of anthel.intic treatment and fl.es to produce for eggs and l.rva. For method I, 30 eggs were incubated in square fil.er paper (5 × 5 cm) and deposited on bovine feces (500 g) where they were kept until.hatching and spontaneous penetration of l.rvae (l.) into the fecal.mass. After 24 h, eggs were anal.zed under a stereoscope microscope (40×) for the number of l.rvae that instinctivel. penetrated the feces. In method II, l.rvae were obtained onl. by natural.egg hatching. At birth, 30 l.rvae were col.ected and individual.y inocul.ted, directl. onto the fecal.pl.te by empl.ying a moistened brush. The tests were carried out at control.ed temperature (28°C ± 2°C) and saturated humidity (80%) until.the emergence of fl.es with both methods. The number of emerged fl.es was considered in the resul.. Using method I, 276 (76.7%) fl.es emerged from 360 inocul.ted eggs, whil. using method II, 283 (78.6%) fl.es emerged from 360 inocul.ted l.rvae. There was no significant difference (P = 0.7821) between methods for the number of fl.es;however, the proportion between mal.s and femal.s by means of l.rva inocul.tion was different from 1:1 (P = 0.0146). Resul.s indicated that both methods l.d to a satisfactory production of fl.es and egg inocul.tion provided an easier establ.shment.

This study investigated the effects on the reproductive system of bal.-c mice exposed to water col.ected from different sources near to a deactivated fertil.zer waste depositary. Eighty mal. mice were separated in four groups: Group A (mineral.water);Group B (water from the water treatment station);Group C (water from Cubatao city);Group D (water from the waste depositary region). They were exposed to water since they were weaned until.they reached sexual.maturity, then they were coupl.d with femal.s in reproductive age and after this mating time they were sacrificed. The eval.ated parameters were testicl. weight, sperm anal.sis, pregnancy rate, sex ratio of the offspring and Sertol. cel. count. The anal.sis of the water did not show presence of pol.utants in the Group “A” and Group “C” water. Group “B” showed l.w l.vel.of cadmium, 3.58 ± 0.50 μg/l. Group “D” showed the presence of PAH’s and high l.vel. of l.ad (221 ± 16 μg/l., cadmiun (12.6 ± 1.2 μg/l. and mercury (5.3 ± 1.1 μg/l.. The tests of l.vene and Kol.ogorov-Smirnov were empl.yed to verify the homogeneity of the variances and the tack to the normal.curve, respectivel.. ANOVA was used for parametric tests and Kruskal.-Wal.is was used for non-parametric tests, whil. Turkey tests were empl.yed for mul.ipl. comparisons. There were no differences between groups in testicl. weight, sperm anal.sis, pregnancy rate and Sertol. cel. count. There was a significant reduction in sex-ratio of the offspring in Group B. This al.eration cannot be expl.ined by the cadmium l.vel. in Group B water. In the present study we cannot associate the exposition to contaminated water from the waste depositary and reproductive al.erations.
