Functional Tregs play a key role in tumor development and progression,representing a major barrier to anticancer *** mechanisms by which Tregs are generated in cancer and the influence of the tumor microenvironment on these processes remain incompletely ***,by using NMR,chemoenzymatic structural assays and a plethora of in vitro and in vivo functional analyses,we demonstrate that the tumoral carbohydrate A10(Ca10),a cell-surface carbohydrate derived from Ehrlich’s tumor(ET)cells,is a heparan sulfate-related proteoglycan that enhances glycolysis and promotes the development of tolerogenic features in human ***10-stimulated human DCs generate highly suppressive Tregs by mechanisms partially dependent on metabolic reprogramming,PD-L1,IL-10,and ***10 also reprograms the differentiation of human monocytes into DCs with tolerogenic *** solid ET-bearing mice,we found positive correlations between Ca10 serum levels,tumor size and splenic Treg *** of isolated Ca10 also increases the proportion of splenic Tregs in tumor-free ***,we provide evidence supporting the presence of a circulating human Ca10 counterpart(Ca10H)and show,for the first time,that serum levels of Ca10H are increased in patients suffering from different cancer types compared to healthy *** note,these levels are higher in prostate cancer patients with bone metastases than in prostate cancer patients without ***,we reveal novel molecular mechanisms by which heparan sulfate-related structures associated with tumor cells promote the generation of functional Tregs in *** discovery of this novel structural-functional relationship may open new avenues of research with important clinical implications in cancer treatment.

Background:In this study,we aimed to investigate the molecular basis of lactation as well as to identify the genetic factors that influence milk yield and composition in *** achieve these two goals,we have analyzed how the mRNA profile of the mammary gland changes in seven Murciano-Granadina goats at each of three different time points,i.e.78 d(T1,early lactation),216 d(T2,late lactation)and 285 d(T3,dry period)after ***,we have performed a genome-wide association study(GWAS)for seven dairy traits recorded in the 1st lactation of 822 Murciano-Granadina ***:The expression profiles of the mammary gland in the early(T1)and late(T2)lactation were quite similar(42 differentially expressed genes),while strong transcriptomic differences(more than one thousand differentially expressed genes)were observed between the lactating(T1/T2)and non-lactating(T3)mammary glands.A large number of differentially expressed genes were involved in pathways related with the biosynthesis of amino acids,cholesterol,triglycerides and steroids as well as with glycerophospholipid metabolism,adipocytokine signaling,lipid binding,regulation of ion transmembrane transport,calcium ion binding,metalloendopeptidase activity and complement and coagulation *** regard to the second goal of the study,the performance of the GWAS allowed us to detect 24 quantitative trait loci(QTLs),including three genome-wide significant associations:QTL1(chromosome 2,130.72-131.01 Mb)for lactose percentage,QTL6(chromosome 6,78.90-93.48 Mb)for protein percentage and QTL17(chromosome 17,11.20 Mb)for both protein and dry matter ***,QTL6 shows positional coincidence with the casein genes,which encode 80%of milk ***:The abrogation of lactation involves dramatic changes in the expression of genes participating in a broad array of physiological processes such as protein,lipid and carbohydrate metabolism,calcium homeostasis,cell death and tissue remo

Objective:To investigate the vasorelaxant effect of organic extracts from Apium graveolens(***)which is a part of a group of plants subjected to pharmacological and phytochemical study with the purpose of offering it as an ideal source for obtaining lead compounds for designing new therapeutic agents with potential vasorelaxant and antihypertensive ***:An ex vivo method was employed to assess the vasorelaxant *** consisted of using rat aortic rings with and without endothelium precontracted with ***:All extracts caused concentration-dependent relaxation in precontracted aortic rings with and without endothelium;the most active extracts were Dichloromethane and Ethyl Acetate extracts from *** results suggested that secondary metabolites responsible for the vasorelaxant activity belong to a group of compounds of medium ***,our evidence showed that effect induced by dichloromethane and ethyl acetate extracts from *** is mediated probably by calcium ***:*** represents an ideal source for obtaining lead compounds for designing new therapeutic agents with potential vasorelaxant and antihypertensive effects.

Background:Habitat loss and fragmentation in the sierra Madre Oriental(SMO)ecological corridor have negative impacts on the movement and distribution of mammalian species that are of great ecological and evolutionary *** of the SMO ecological corridor that is located in the state of Hidalgo is less studied despite being a potential dispersal route for *** objectives of this study were to evaluate the presence and activity of terrestrial mammals in the riparian and non‑riparian zones of ***:Camera traps detected 15 mammalian species(i.e.,14 native and 1 domestic)in the non‑riparian zone,and 12 mammalian species in the riparian zone(i.e.,10 wild and 2 domestic).The riparian corridor was mainly used by opportunistic medium‑sized carnivores,while large carnivores and their potential prey were more frequent in the non‑riparian ***:Our findings suggest terrestrial mammals avoid the use of natural corridors due to the presence of domestic dogs,cattle and humans and look for new dispersal routes to move through their habitat and find the resources they need to *** though some species can use disturbed corridors to move and find resources,they will change their activity patterns to avoid contact with humans and potential threats like *** is,therefore,crucial to identify not one,but several corridors that must be preserved to improve the connectivity of terrestrial mammals in disturbed landscapes.

The taxonomy of the genus Quercus is the subject of ongoing scientific interest at the present time. Classically the scanning electron microscope is and has been used for the study of leaf surfaces, particularly to characterise the trichomes, stomata and epicuticular waxes. In the present work, in addition to using the SEM, histological sections from a group of taxa from the northern Iberian Peninsula are studied under the optical microscope. Specifically, the study concerns the leaves of Quercus robur subsp. robur, Q. orocantabrica, Q. petraea and Q. pyrenaica, and of possible hybrids between Q. orocantabrica and Q. petraea and between Q. orocantabrica and Q. pyrenaica. The results highlight histological differences between Q. robur and Q. orocantabrica, and also differentiate the morphological characteristics of Q. petraea and Q. pyrenaica. Similarities can also be observed between Q. petraea and its possible hybrid with Q. orocantabrica, and between Q. pyrenaica and its hybrid with Q. orocantabrica. The aspects observed under the optical microscope complement the observations obtained by means of the scanning electron microscope, and as a consequence of this, two new nothospecies are described: Q. xpuentei (Q. orocantabrica × Q. petraea) and Q. xpenasii (Q. orocantabrica × Q. pyrenaica).

Glacier reconstruction of La Covacha Massif in sierra de Gredos(central Spain) during the Last Glacial Maximum

A paleoglacier reconstruction during the Last Glacial Maximum(LGM) is presented for a high mountain area of La Covacha massif in sierra de Gredos(Iberian Central System) in central Spain. The moraines that, according with the previous literature, had formed during the global LGM, were mapped through photo interpretation of digital aerial photographs and 3D images and detailed field surveys. The topography of the paleoglaciers was estimated using a simple steady-state model that assumed a perfectly plastic ice rheology, reconstructing the theoretical ice profiles and obtaining the ice thickness of the glaciers during the LGM. The reconstruction of the glaciers was carried out using automated and semi-automated physically-based models, obtaining more realistic results with semi-automated models. According to our study, the paleoglaciers in the study area covered an area of 34.79 km^2 during the global LGM, with a maximum ice thickness of 366 meters in La Vega gorge, a total volume of 34.25 × 108 m^3 and a mean paleoELA of 1932 meters. Most of the ice(~82%) was in paleoglaciers facing north, and the rest was in paleoglaciers with other orientations. This emphasizes the importance of orientation in relation to glacier dynamics and ice accumulation. The results obtained in the calculation of paleoELAs during the global LGM in Gredos are average compared to the Iberian mountains of the Northwest where the values were much lower, and with respect to those of the Southwest, much higher. This demonstrates the importance of the exposure of Mediterranean mountains to the humidity sources coming from the NW during the global LGM, as is the case at present.

Electrochemical treatment is an alternative modality for tumor treatment based on the application of a low intensity direct electric current to the tumor tissue through two or more platinum electrodes placed within the tumor zone or in the surrounding areas. This treatment is noted for its great effectiveness, minimal invasiveness and local effect. Several studies have been conducted worldwide to evaluate the anfitumoral effect of this therapy. In all these studies a variety of biochemical and physiological responses of tumors to the applied treatment have been obtained. By this reason, researchers have suggested various mechanisms to explain how direct electric current destroys tumor ceils. Although, it is generally accepted this treatment induces electrolysis, electroosmosis and electroporation in tumoral tissues. However, action mechanism of this alternative modality on the tumor tissue is not well understood. Although the principle of Electrochemical treatment is simple, a standardized method is not yet available. The mechanism by which Electrochemical treatment affects tumor growth and survival may represent more complex process. The present work analyzes the latest and most important research done on the electrochemical treatment of tumors. We conclude with our point of view about the destruction mechanism features of this alternative therapy. Also, we suggest some mechanisms and strategies from the thermodynamic point of view for this therapy. In the area of Electrochemical treatment of cancer this tool has been exploited very little and much work remains to be done. Electrochemical treatment constitutes a good therapeutic option for patients that have failed the conventional oncology methods.

Comparative voltammetry and differential double-layer capacitance studies were performed to evaluate interfacial interactions between cnalcopyrite（CuFeS2） and n-isopropyl xanthate（X） in the presence of ammonium bisulfite/39wt%SO2 and caustic starch at different pH *** spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared（FTIR） spectroscopy,contact angle measurements,and microflotation tests were used to establish the type and extent of xanthate adsorption as well as the species involved under different mineral surface conditions in this *** results demonstrate that the species that favor a greater hydrophobicity of chalcopyrite are primarily CuX and S^0,whereas oxides and hydroxides of Cu and Fe as well as an excess of starch decrease the hydrophobicity.A conditioning of the mineral surface with ammonium bisulfite/39wt%SO2 at pH 6 promotes the activation of surface and enhances the xanthate ***,this effect is diminished at pH ≥ 8,when an excess of starch is added during the preconditioning step.

Mexican beech[Fagus grandifolia ***(Martinez)***]is a subspecies endemic to the sierra Madre Oriental Mountains and considered endangered due to the low density of its populations and high degree of habitat fragmentation and environmental *** its morphological and genetic variation is associated with its ability to adapt to changes in environmental conditions,the objective of this study was to determine whether phenotypic and genotypic variation exist,and it relationships with population reduction *** four beech populations in the states of Hidalgo and Veracruz,we analyzed 11 morphological variables for leaves and 6 micros atellite *** morphological variables that to discriminate between populations were related to the size of the leaf,but a robust differentiation pattern was not found,given that independent groups of leaves were *** populations located closest to each other,had greater genetic variation and less genetic distance;populations in the extreme north and south had the lowest genetic *** differentiation among populations was associated with reduction in population *** the 3 localities in Hidalgo,recent bottlenecks were identified,and in Veracruz,an old bottleneck was *** in leaf morphology and genetic structure of Mexican beech populations could be the result of a combination of various geographical,climate and ecological factors.
