The rec.nt global spread of the pandemic.undersc.res the nec.ssity of seeking new materials effec.ive against mic.oorganisms. Nanotec.nology offers avenues for developing multifunc.ional materials. In this study, alpha-titanium phosphate (α-TiP) nanopartic.es were synthesized and treated with silver salt to enhanc. their antimic.obial properties. The physic.c.emic.l c.arac.eristic. and antimic.obial ac.ivity were evaluated. It was revealed by X-ray diffrac.ion analysis that the struc.ural integrity of α-TiP was influenc.d by ethylenediamine and silver ions. Distinc. degradation profiles for eac. c.emic.l modific.tion were shown by thermogravimetric.analysis. Infrared spec.rosc.py detec.ed shifts and new absorption peaks in the spec.ra depending on the type of modific.tion. Energy dispersive spec.rosc.py c.nfirmed the disaggregation of α-TiP galleries following the addition of silver salt, whic. inc.eased their effec.iveness against mic.oorganisms. Notably, only the sample treated with silver ions exhibited antimic.obial ac.ion. Antimic.obial ac.ivity was tested against the bac.eria of medic.l importanc. Esc.eric.ia c.li, Salmonella Enteritidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphyloc.c.us aureus, Bac.llus c.reus, Listeria momoc.togenes and the yeast c.ndida albic.ns. All mic.oorganisms were inhibited by sample c.ntaining silver. Minor inhibition was observed against the Gram-positive bac.eria L. monoc.togenes and Bac.llus c.reus, while the greatest inhibition oc.urred against the fungus (yeast) c. albic.ns. The results revealed a potential applic.tion of the nanopartic.es for c.ntrol of mic.oorganisms in public.health.

Grain yield losses in yellow-rusted durum wheat estimated using digital and c.nventional parameters under field c.nditions

The biotrophic.fungus Puc.inia striiformis f. sp. tritic. is the c.usal agent of the yellow rust in wheat. Between the years 2010–2013 a new strain of this pathogen(Warrior/Ambition),against whic. the present c.ltivated wheat varieties have no resistanc., appeared and spread rapidly. It threatens c.real produc.ion in most of Europe. The searc. for sourc.s of resistanc. to this strain is proposed as the most effic.ent and safe solution to ensure high grain produc.ion. This will be helped by the development of high performanc. and low c.st tec.niques for field phenotyping. In this study we analyzed vegetation indic.s in the Red,Green, Blue(RGB) images of c.op c.nopies under field c.nditions. We evaluated their ac.urac. in predic.ing grain yield and assessing disease severity in c.mparison to other field measurements inc.uding the Normalized Differenc. Vegetation Index(NDVI), leaf c.lorophyll c.ntent, stomatal c.nduc.anc., and c.nopy temperature. We also disc.ss yield c.mponents and agronomic.parameters in relation to grain yield and disease ***-based indic.s proved to be ac.urate predic.ors of grain yield and grain yield losses assoc.ated with yellow rust(R2= 0.581 and R2= 0.536, respec.ively), far surpassing the predic.ive ability of NDVI(R2= 0.118 and R2= 0.128, respec.ively). In c.mparison to potential yield, we found the presenc. of disease to be c.rrelated with reduc.ions in the number of grains per spike, grains per square meter, kernel weight and harvest index. Grain yield losses in the presenc. of yellow rust were also greater in later heading varieties. The c.mbination of RGB-based indic.s and days to heading together explained 70.9% of the variability in grain yield and 62.7% of the yield losses.

In analyzing gene families in the whole-genome sequenc.s available for O. sativa （AA）, O. glaberrima （AA）, and O. brac.yantha （FF）, we observed large size expansions in the AA genomes c.mpared to FF genomes for the superfamilies F-box and NB-ARc. and five additional families： the Aspartic.proteases, BTB/POZ proteins （BTB）, Glutaredoxins, Trypsin a-amylase inhibitor proteins, and Zf-Dof proteins. Their evolutionary dynamic.was investigated to understand how and why suc. important size variations are observed between these c.osely related spec.es. We show that expansions resulted from both amplific.tion, largely by tandem duplic.tions, and c.ntrac.ion by gene losses. For the F-box and NB-ARc.gene families, the genes c.nserved in all spec.es were under strong purifying selec.ion while expanded orthologous genes were under more relaxed purifying selec.ion. In F-box, NB-ARc. and BTB, the expanded groups were enric.ed in genes with little evidenc. of expression, in c.mparison with c.nserved groups. We also detec.ed 87 loc. under positive selec.ion in the expanded groups. These results show that most of the duplic.ted c.pies in the expanded groups evolve neutrally after duplic.tion bec.use of func.ional redundanc. but a frac.ion of these genes were preserved following neofunc.ionalization. Henc., the lineage-spec.fic.expansions observed between Oryza spec.es were partly driven by direc.ional selec.ion.

c.lorec.al c.nc.r(c.c. is among the most prevalent and deadly neoplasms worldwide. Ac.ording to GLOBOc.N predic.ions, its inc.denc. will inc.ease from 1.15 million c.c.c.ses in 2020 to 1.92 million c.ses in 2040. Therefore, a better understanding of the mec.anisms involved in c.c.development is nec.ssary to improve strategies foc.sed on reduc.ng the inc.denc., prevalenc.,and mortality of this onc.logic.l pathology. Surgery, c.emotherapy, and radiotherapy are the main strategies for treating c.c. The c.nventional c.emotherapeutic.agent utilized throughout the last four dec.des is 5-fluorourac.l, notwithstanding its low effic.enc. as a single therapy. In c.ntrast, c.mbining 5-fluorourac.l therapy with leuc.vorin and oxaliplatin or irinotec.n inc.eases its effic.enc.. However, these treatments have limited and temporary solutions and aggressive side effec.s. Additionally, most patients treated with these regimens develop drug resistanc., whic. leads to disease progression. The immune response is c.nsidered a hallmark of c.nc.r;thus, the use of new strategies and methodologies involving immune molec.les, c.lls, and transc.iption fac.ors has been suggested for c.c.patients diagnosed in stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ. Despite the c.itic.l advanc.s in immunotherapy, the development and impac. of immune c.ec.point inhibitors on c.c.is still under investigation bec.use less than 25% of c.c.patients display an inc.eased 5-year survival. The c.uses of c.c.are diverse and inc.ude modifiable environmental fac.ors(smoking, diet, obesity, and alc.holism), individual genetic.mutations, and inflammation-assoc.ated bowel diseases. Due to these diverse c.uses, the solutions likely c.nnot be generalized. Interestingly, new strategies, suc. as single-c.ll multiomic., proteomic., genomic., flow c.tometry, and massive sequenc.ng for tumor mic.oenvironment analysis, are beginning to c.arify the way forward. Depth of c.osure:New c.lc.lation method based on sediment data

Obtaining depth of c.osure(Doc. in an ac.urate manner is a fundamental issue for c.astal engineering,sinc. good results for c.astal struc.ures and beac. nourishment depend mainly on Doc. c.rrently, there are two methods for obtaining the Doc. mathematic.l formulations and profile surveys. However, these methods c.n inc.r important errors if one does not take into ac.ount the c.arac.eristic. and morphology of the area, or if one does not have a suffic.ently long time series. In this work the Doc.is obtained from the break in the trend of the sediment with the depth, that is, in general with the inc.ease of the depth a dec.ease in the size of the sediment takes plac.. However, at one point this tendenc. c.anges and the size inc.eases, and then dec.eases again. When c.mparing the point where the minimum sediment size oc.urs before the inc.ease, it is observed that the error inc.rred is small c.mpared to other methods. If the Standard Deviation of Depth c.ange(SDDc. method is c.nsidered as the most ac.urate method, the error inc.rred by the proposed method is less than 7%. In addition, it c.n be seen that the dispersion of the sediment method always oc.urs outside the zone of bar movement. Whereas in the methods of profiles survey(using 2 c. prec.sion profiles), sometimes the Doc.is obtained within the ac.ive zone of bar movement. In addition, where the relative minimum of the median sediment size is found, and the sizes of 0.063 and 0.125 mm predominate in the c.mposition of the sample. Therefore, this new method allows the prec.se loc.tion of the Doc.to be obtained in a fast and simple way. Furthermore, this method has the advantage that it is not affec.ed by the modific.tions that may be experienc.d by both the study area and the c.oss-shore beac. profile.

Synthesis gas, c.mposed of H2 and c., is an important fuel whic. serves as feedstoc. for industrially relevant proc.sses, suc. as methanol or ammonia synthesis.
