Breaking the Fe_(3)O_(4)-wrapped copper microstructure to enhance copper-slag separation

The precipitation of Fe_(3)O_(4)particles and the accompanied formation of Fe_(3)O_(4)-wrapped copper structure are the main obstacles to copper recovery from the molten slag during the pyrometallurgical smelting of copper ***,the commercial powdery pyrite or anthracite is replaced with pyrite-anthracite pellets as the reductants to remove a large amount of Fe_(3)O_(4)particles in the molten slag,resulting in a deep fracture in the Fe_(3)O_(4)-wrapped copper microstructure and the full exposure of the copper matte *** 1wt%composite pellet is used as the reductant,the copper matte droplets are enlarged greatly from 25μm to a size observable by the naked eye,with the copper content being enriched remarkably from 1.2wt%to 4.5wt%.Density functional theory calculation results imply that the formation of the Fe_(3)O_(4)-wrapped copper structure is due to the preferential adhesion of Cu_(2)S on the Fe_(3)O_(4)particles.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR),and Raman spectroscopy results all reveal that the high-efficiency conver-sion of Fe_(3)O_(4)to FeO can decrease the volume fraction of the solid phase and promote the depolymerization of silicate network *** a consequence,the settling of copper matte droplets is enhanced due to the lowered slag viscosity,contributing to the high efficiency of copper-slag separation for copper *** results provide new insights into the enhanced in-situ enrichment of copper from mol-ten slag.

The effects of cryogenic treatment(CT)and tempering-cryogenic treatment(TCT)on the microstructure and properties of coarse-grained WC-10Co cemented carbides with different carbon contents were *** binder phase,WC mean grain sizes,W solubility in the binder,relative magnetic s aturation,densities,hardness,wear resistance and second phase precipitation of cemented carbides with different heat treatments were *** results show that there are significant changes of microstructure and properties in the samples with CT and TCT,especially due to the precipitation of metastable nanoparticles W_(x)Co_(y)C_(z) in the binder during the heat treatments of CT and *** the simultaneous combination of microstructure and nanoparticle-reinforced binder,a dramatically improved combination of hardness and wear resistance of the samples after TCT has been achieved.

The inadequate quantity of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))in cancer cells promptly results in the constrained success of chemodynamic therapy(CDT).Significant efforts made throughout the years;nevertheless,researchers are still facing the great challenge of designing a CDT agent and securing H_(2)O_(2) supply within the tumor *** this study,taking advantage of H_(2)O_(2) level maintenance mechanism in cancer cells,a nanozyme-based bimetallic metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)tandem reactor is fabricated to elevate intracellular H_(2)O_(2) levels,thereby enhancing *** addition,under nearinfrared excitation,the upconversion nanoparticles(UCNPs)loaded into the MOFs can perform photocatalysis and generate hydrogen,which increases cellular susceptibility to radicals induced from H_(2)O_(2),inhibits cancer cell energy,causes DNA damages and induces tumor cell apoptosis,thus improving CDT therapeutic efficacy *** proposed nanozyme-based bimetallic MOFs-mediated CDT and UCNPs-mediated hydrogen therapy act as combined therapy with high efficacy and low toxicity.

Opportunity to harmonize aspects of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)performance and structure,and morphology,as well as composition,is urgent for the commercialization of proton exchange membrane fuel ***,we demonstrate the design and synthesis of a functionalized-supported-Pt catalyst(Pt@HNC)featuring a hollow nitrogen-modified dodecahedral carbon substrate obtained by a stress-induced-shrink tailoring *** as-obtained Pt@HNC catalyst possesses enhanced ORR per-formance,in particular with half-wave potential,mass activity(MA)and specific activity,which greatly exceed the commercial Pt/*** density functional theory(DFT)calculations further confirmed that the charge redistribution induced by the electronegativity differences improved the electron interaction between Pt and HNC *** optimized electronic structure of Pt weakens the reaction energy barrier on the Pt@HNC surface and adsorption of^(*)OH species,thus cooperatively improving the intrinsic activity toward ***,our work indeed provides a guide for the future design of functional nanomaterials in the field of catalysts and clean energy.

The rapidly increasing production of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and their limited service time increases the number of spent LIBs,eventually causing serious environmental issues and resource *** the perspectives of clean production and the development of the LIB industry,the effective recovery and recycling of spent LIBs require urgent *** study provides an overview of the current hydrometallurgical processes employed in the recycling of spent cathode materials,focusing on the leaching of valuable metals and their *** particular,this research reviews the various leaching systems(inorganic acid,organic acid,and ammonia)and the separation of valuable metals,and then,recommendations for subsequent study are offered in an attempt to contribute to the development of highly efficient methods for recycling spent cathode *** addition,a range of existing technologies,such as solvent extraction,chemical precipitation,electrochemical deposition,and regeneration,for the postprocessing of leaching solutions are ***,the promising technologies,existing challenges and suggestions with respect to the development of effective and environmentally friendly recycling methods for handling spent cathode materials are identified.

Objective: To identify the core targets of Rheum palmatum L. and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge.,(Dahuang-Danshen, DH-DS) and the mechanism underlying its therapeutic efficacy in acute pancreatitis(AP)using a network pharmacology approach and validate the findings in animal experiments. Methods: Network pharmacology analysis was used to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of DH-DS in AP. The reliability of the results was verified by molecular docking simulation and molecular dynamics ***, the results of network pharmacology enrichment analysis were verified by immunohistochemistry,Western blot analysis and real-time quantitative PCR, respectively. Results: Sixty-seven common targets of DH-DS in AP were identified and mitogen-activated protein kinase 3(MAPK3), Janus kinase 2(JAK2), signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3), protein c-Fos(FOS) were identified as core targets in the protein interaction(PPI) network analysis. Gene ontology analysis showed that cellular response to organic substance was the main functions of DH-DS in AP, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis showed that the main pathway included Th17 cell differentiation. Molecular docking simulation confirmed that DH-DS binds with strong affinity to MAPK3, STAT3 and FOS. Molecular dynamics simulation revealed that FOS-isotanshinone Ⅱ and STAT3-dan-shexinkum d had good binding capacity. Animal experiments indicated that compared with the AP model group, DH-DS treatment effectively alleviated AP by inhibiting the expression of interleukin-1β, interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α, and blocking the activation of Th17 cell differentiation(Plusion: DH-DS could inhibit the expression of inflammatory factors and protect pancreatic tissues,which would be functioned by regulating Th17 cell differentiation-related m RNA and protein expressions.

Open-shell graphene nanostructures(GNs)are promising candidates for future spintronics and quantum *** progress based on on-surface synthetic approach has successfully created such GNs on metallic ***,the doping effect of metallic surfaces is inevitably present and can significantly tune their electronic and magnetic ***,we investigate the zigzag end states of open-shell 7-armchair graphene nanoribbons(7-AGNRs)on Au(111),Au(100)and Ag(111)*** with the manipulation of a scanning tunneling microscope,we demonstrate that the end states can be tuned from empty states to singly occupied states and to doubly occupied states by substrate ***,the singly occupied states can be finely tuned,with the occupancy number of the states and related magnetic behaviors uncovered by experiments at different temperatures and magnetic *** results provide a comprehensive study of the magnetic response of open-shell GNs on metallic surfaces at different doping levels.

Apolipoprotein D(ApoD),a member of the lipocalin superfamily of proteins,is involved in lipid transport and stress *** only a single copy of the ApoD gene is found in humans and some other vertebrates,there are typically several ApoD-like genes in *** date,there have been relatively few studies that have examined the evolution and functional differentiation of ApoD-like genes in insects,particularly hemi-metabolous *** this study,we identified 10 ApoD-like genes(NlApoD1−10)with distinct spatiotemporal expression patterns in Nilaparvata lugens(BPH),which is an important pest of ***1−10 were found to be distributed on 3 chromosomes in a tandem array of NlApoD1/2,NlApoD3−5,and NlApoD7/8,and show sequence and gene structural divergence in the coding regions,indicating that multiple gene duplication events occurred during *** analysis revealed that NlApoD1−10 can be clustered into 5 clades,with NlApoD3−5 and NlApoD7/8 potentially evolving exclusively in the Delphacidae *** screening using an RNA interference approach revealed that only NlApoD2 was essential for BPH development and survival,whereas NlApoD4/5 are highly expressed in testes,and might play roles in ***,stress response analysis revealed that NlApoD3−5/9,NlApoD3−5,and NlApoD9 were up-regulated after treatment with lipopolysaccharide,H2O2,and ultraviolet-C,respectively,indicating their potential roles in stress resistance.

The sluggish reaction kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and the high price of noble metal catalysts hinder the wide application of water electrolysis for hydrogen ***-entropy oxides(HEOs)with multi-components and high entropy stabilized structures have attracted great research interests due to their efficient and durable performance in electrolytic water splitting ***,the development of efficient HEO electrocatalysts are often hindered by the limited surface exposed active sites because high temperature is usually required to form a high entropy stabilized ***,a flaky high-entropy oxide with a spinel structure,(FeCoNiCrMn)_(3)O_(4),was synthesized by using the sacrificial layered carbon template in situ prepared by the volatile reaction between ammonium sulfate and molten ***-resolution TEM results show the as-prepared(FeCoNiCrMn)_(3)O_(4) flakes are composed of nanosized HEO *** nanosized(FeCoNiCrMn)_(3)O_(4) HEO electrocatalysts exhibit excellent OER activity,with an overpotential of 239 mV at 10 mA/cm^(2) and a Tafel slope of 52.4 mV/*** electrocatalyst has excellent *** at a high current density of 100 mA/cm^(2),the activity remains unchanged during the stability test for 24 *** results here shed a new light in the design and fabrication of highly efficient HEO electrocatalysts.
