A Cooperative Schema between Web Sever and Search Engine for Improving Freshness of Web Repository

Because the web is huge and web pages are updated frequently, the index maintained by a search engine has to refresh web pages periodically. This is extremely resource consuming because the search engine needs to crawl the web and download web pages to refresh its index, Based on present technologies of web refreshing, we present a cooperative schema between web server and search engine for maintaining freshness of web repository. The web server provides metadata defined through XML standard to describe web sites. Before updating the web page the crawler visits the meta-data files. If the meta-data indicates that the page is not modified, then the crawler will not update it. So this schema can save bandwidth resource. A primitive model based on the schema is implemented. The cost and efficiency of the schema are analyzed.

One way of achieving interoperability among heterogeneous, distributed DBMSs is through a multidatabase system. Recently, there is an increasing use of CORBA implementation in developing multidatabase systems. Panorama is a multidatabase system that has been implemented on the top of CORBA compliant namely VisiBroker. It aims to achieve interoperability among Oracle, Sybase and other different DBMSs through the registration of these DBMSs to Panorama and through the single global query language PanoSQL designed for this system. In this paper, we first introduce CORBA for the interoperability in multidatabase systems. Then, a general view for our designed multidatabase system, Panorama, has been given. In section four, we introduce the global query language PanoSQL designed to achieve interoperability among the different DBMSs implemented in Panorama. Then, as an example, we present the registration of Oracle to Panorama in order to achieve interoperability in this system. And finally, a conclusion and the future work for this system have been given.

This paper mainly introduces the development and implementation of the user centered data mining service ontology on Universal Knowledge Grid （UKG）. UKG is an ontology-based grid architecture model to build large-scale distributed knowledge discovery system on the grid. The data mining ontology services are the main service offering by UKG. It can meet the user requirements of knowledge discovery in different domains and different hierarchies and make the system exoteric, extensible and high usable. A data min- ing solution for money laundering is introduced.

This paper proposes an algorithm applied in se mantic P2P network based on the description logics with the purpose for realizing the concepts distribution of resources, which makes the resources semantic locating easy. With the idea of the consistent hashing in the Chord, our algorithm stores the addresses and resources with the values of the same type to select instance. In addition, each peer has its own ontology, which will be completed by the knowledge distributed over the network during the exchange of CHGs （classification hierarchy graphs）. The hierarchy classification of concepts allows to find matching resource by querying to the upper level concept because the all concepts described in the CHG have the same root.

In a very large digital library that support computer aided collaborative design, an indexing process is crucial whenever the retrieval process has to select among many possible designs. In this paper, we address the problem of retrieving important design and engineering information by structural indexing. A design is represented by a model dependency graph, therefor, the indexing problem is to determine whether a graph is present or absent in a database of model dependency graphs. we present a novel graph indexing method using polynomial characterization of a model dependency graph and on hashing. Such an approach is able to create an high efficient 3D solid digital library for retrieving and extracting solid geometric model and engineering information.

Registering Different DBMSs to Panorama with CORBA

Recently, there is an increasing use of CORBA implementation in developing multidatabase systems. MIND and Panorama are some of the examples of multidatabase prototypes that have been implemented on the top of CORBA compliant namely ObjectBroker and VisiBroker respectively. They both aim to achieve interoperability among Oracle, Sybase and other different DBMSs through the registration of these DBMSs to them using CORBA. This registration to a CORBA based multidatabase system offers an advanced way in achieving *** first introduce Panorama multidatabase system and discuss the basic implementation decisions in registering different DBMSs using the CORBA compliant ORB, namely VisiBroker to this system. Then, it aims to discuss the method we've used in registering different DBMSs to our designed multidatabase system Panorama. A detailed discussion about the registration of Oracle8 and Sybase is given. And finally, a conclusion and the future work for this system have been given.
