Effect of Chinese Medicine in Patients with COVID-1.: A Multi-center Retrospective Cohort Study

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Chinese medicine(CM) in the treatment of coronavirus disease 201.(COVID-1.) in China. Methods: A multi-center retrospective cohort study was carried out, with cumulative CM treatment period of 3 days during hospitalization as exposure. Data came from consecutive inpatients from December 1., 201. to May 1., 2020 in 4 medical centers in Wuhan, China. After data extraction, verification and cleaning, confounding factors were adjusted by inverse probability of treatment weighting(IPTW), and the Cox proportional hazards regression model was used for statistical analysis. Results:A total of 2,272 COVID-1. patients were included. There were 1.684 patients in the CM group and 588 patients in the control group. Compared with the control group, the hazard ratio(HR) for the deterioration rate in the CM group was 0.52 [95% confidence interval(CI): 0.41.to 0.64, P1.. The results were consistent across patients of varying severity at admission, and the robustness of the results were confirmed by 3 sensitivity analyses. In addition, the HR for all-cause mortality in the CM group was 0.29(95% CI: 0.1. to 0.44, P1..Regarding of safety, the proportion of patients with abnormal liver function or renal function in the CM group was smaller. Conclusion: This real-world study indicates that the combination of a full-course CM therapy on the basic conventional treatment, may safely reduce the deterioration rate and all-cause mortality of COVID-1.patients. This result can provide the new evidence to support the current treatment of COVID-1.. Additional prospective clinical trial is needed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of specific CM interventions.(Registration No. ChiCTR220006291.)

Fluoropyrimidine-based combination chemotherapy plus targeted therapy is the standard initial treatment for unresectable metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC),but the prognosis remains *** phase 3 trial(***:NCT039501.4)assessed the efficacy and adverse events(AEs)of the combination of PD-1.blockade-activated DC-CIK(PD1.T)cells with XELOX plus bevacizumab as a first-line therapy in patients with mCRC.A total of 202 participants were enrolled and randomly assigned in a 1.1.ratio to receive either first-line XELOX plus bevacizumab(the control group,n=1.2)or the same regimen plus autologous PD1.T cell immunotherapy(the immunotherapy group,n=1.0)every 21.days for up to 6 cycles,followed by maintenance treatment with capecitabine and *** main endpoint of the trial was progression-free survival(PFS).The median follow-up was 1..5 *** PFS was 1..8 months(95%CI,1..6-1..0)for the immunotherapy group compared with 9.9 months(8.0-1..8)for the control group(hazard ratio[HR],0.60[95%CI,0.40-0.88];p=0.009).Median overall survival(OS)was not reached for the immunotherapy group and 25.6 months(95%CI,1..3-32.8)for the control group(HR,0.57[95%CI,0.33-0.98];p=0.043).Grade 3 or higher AEs occurred in 20.0%of patients in the immunotherapy group and 23.5%in the control groups,with no toxicity-associated deaths *** addition of PD1.T cells to first-line XELOX plus bevacizumab demonstrates significant clinical improvement of PFS and OS with well tolerability in patients with previously untreated mCRC.

Combination of p-Coumaric acid and lactoferrin ameliorates cognitive deficits through suppressing C/EBPβ/AEP pathway and modulating intestinal flora in APP/PS1.mice

Alzheimer's disease （AD） has become an important public health issue worldwide. P-Coumaric acid （CA） and lactoferrin （Lf） possessed antioxidant， anti-inflammatory， and anti-AD activities. Herein， we hypothesized that a combination treatment of CA and Lf would synergistically improve AD symptoms and studied its mechanisms. Twelve-week-old APP/PS1.mice were treated with CA， Lf， or both CA and Lf for 8 weeks. Results showed that individual and combined treatments could ameliorate cognitive deficits to varying degrees， with stronger effects for combined intervention than for CA or Lf alone. Specifically， combined treatment was most effective in improving nesting ability and reducing Aβ1.42deposition in mice. Moreover， combined treatment was more effective in suppressing APP， BACE1. and inflammation; it inhibited the CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein （C/EBPβ）/asparagine endopeptidase （AEP） signaling pathway in the hippocampus and colon and upregulated the expression of tight junction protein ZO-1.in the colon; it also decreased the F/B ratio at the phylum level and increased the relative abundance of Prevotellaceae， Lachnospira， and Eubacterium at the genus level. Overall， the combination of CA and Lf may ameliorate cognitive deficits in APP/PS1.mice by improving inflammation and inhibiting the C/EBPβ/AEP signaling pathway via modulating gut microbiome.

Solvothermal Synthesis, Structural Characterization and Properties of Two New Layered Lanthanide Sulfates

Two new layered lanthanide sulfates, [C1.H1.N2][Pr2（SO4）4（H2O）2]（1. and [H5O2][Sm（SO4）2（H2O）3]（2） were synthesized via solvothermal reaction and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction（XRD）, infrared（IR） spectroscopy, thermal analysis, fluorescent spectra and inductively coupled plasma（ICP）. Crystal data for compound 1. triclinic, Pi space group, a=0.8052（4） nm, b=0.9438（4） nm, c=1.4990（7） nm, α=79.450（5）°, β= 83.703（5）°, γ=74.048（5）°, V=1.0746（9） nm3, Z=2; for compound 2, monoclinie, P21.c space group, a=0.6599（1.） nm, b=1.8940（3） nm, c=0.8765（1.） nm, β=96.596（2）°, V=1.0883（3） nm3, Z=4.
