Construction of the porcine genome mobile element variations and investigation of its role in population diversity and gene expression

Background Mobile element variants(MEVs)have a significant and complex impact on genomic diversity and phe-notypic ***,the quantity,distribution,and relationship with gene expression and complex traits of MEVs in the pig genome remain poorly *** We constructed the most comprehensive porcine MEV library based on high-depth whole genome sequencing(WGS)data from 747 pigs across 59 breeds *** database identified a total of 147,993 poly-morphic MEVs,including 121,099 short interspersed nuclear elements(SINEs),26,053 long interspersed nuclear elements(LINEs),802 long terminal repeats(LTRs),and 39 other transposons,among which 54%are newly *** found that MEVs are unevenly distributed across the genome and are strongly influenced by negative selec-tion ***,we identified 514,530,and 584 candidate MEVs associated with population differentiation,domestication,and breed formation,*** example,a significantly differentiated MEV is located in the ATRX intron between Asian and European pigs,whereas ATRX is also differentially expressed between Asian and European pigs in muscle *** addition,we identified 4,169 expressed MEVs(eMEVs)significantly associated with gene expression and 6,914 splicing MEVs(sMEVs)associated with gene splicing based on RNA-seq data from 266 porcine liver *** eMEVs and sMEVs explain 6.24%and 9.47%,respectively,of the observed cis-heritability and high-light the important role of MEVs in the regulation of gene ***,we provide a high-quality SNP–MEV reference haplotype panel to impute MEV genotypes from genome-wide ***,we identified a candidate MEV significantly associated with total teat number,demonstrating the functionality of this reference *** The present investigation demonstrated the importance of MEVs in pigs in terms of population diversity,gene expression and phenotypic traits,which may provide useful resources and theoretic

The generation and detection of single photons and photon pairs are crucial to quantum information processing[1-7].Of the various techniques,integrated photonics plays an important *** has the advantages of mature complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)mass-fabrication,miniaturization,scalability,stability and reconfigurability,thus becoming a natural choice for integrated quantum information ***,due to the lack of second-order nonlinearity,the silicon chip usually adopts the relatively weak third-order nonlinear interaction,namely the spontaneous four-wave mixing,to generate photon *** improve the photon pair generation rate,silicon micro-ring resonators are considered candidates capable of enhancing the intense intracavity field for the pump,signal and idler photons.

General Quantum Interference Principle and Duality Computer

In this article, we propose a general principle of quantum interference for quantum system, and based on this we propose a new type of computing machine, the duality computer, that may outperform in principle both classical computer and the quantum computer. According to the general principle of quantum interference, the very essence of quantum interference is the interference of the sub-waves of the quantum system itself A quantum system considered here can be any quantum system： a single microscopic particle, a composite quantum system such as an atom or a molecule, or a loose collection of a few quantum objects such as two independent photons. In the duality computer, the wave of the duality computer is split into several sub-waves and they pass through different routes, where different computing gate operations are performed. These sub-waves are then re-combined to interfere to give the computational results. The quantum computer, however, has only used the particle nature of quantum object. In a duality computer, it may be possible to find a marked item from an unsorted database using only a single query, and all NP-complete problems may have polynomial algorithms. Two proof-of-the-principle designs of the duality computer are presented： the giant molecule scheme and the nonlinear quantum optics scheme. We also propose thought experiment to check the related fundamental issues, the measurement efficiency of a partial wave function.

Interfacing or entanglement between spatially separated quantum systems,such as superconducting qubits,semiconductor quantum dots,atomic qubits,and solid-state color centers,is crucial in quantum networks and distributed quantum computation[1].Significant progress has been made in generating entanglement between spatially separated quantum systems via optical links[2],while remote superconducting chips,whose quantum states are easily spoiled by optical photons,have been entangled via cryogenic microwave links[3].

Lattice-based access authentication scheme for quantum communication networks

Access authentication scheme plays a foundational role in ensuring the security of communication networks. However, an access authentication scheme with high security and efficiency is still lacking in quantum communication networks. In this paper, we propose a lattice-based access authentication scheme for quantum communication networks in the manner of real-time interaction with the network control center,which could achieve properties of mutual authentication, conditional anonymity, data confidentiality, unforgeability, undeniability, and data integrity. We utilize the digital signature algorithm CRYSTALS-Dilithium and the key-establishment algorithm CRYSTALS-KYBER, both of which have been selected for standardization by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, to realize secure access authentication for users of the quantum communication networks. Specifically, in the quantum secure direct communication network, key-establishment is replaced by the verification of signatures encoded in quantum states. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of establishing a quantum-secure communication network.

Thermodynamics of Cascaded Waste Heat Utilization from Flue Gas and Circulating Cooling Water

A detailed thermal power plant model was developed to evaluate power plant waste heat usage in terms of the operating parameters,energy consumption,water consumption,and pollutant *** model was used to analyze the bypass flue gas energy cascade utilization design which provides excellent energy savings and emission *** paper then presents a design to use the low-temperature waste heat and to extract water from the flue *** low-grade heat can be recovered from a coal-fired unit using absorption heat pumps to increase the air *** method significantly reduces the turbine steam extraction in the low pressure stages which increases the turbine power and reduces the coal *** design has a small heat transfer temperature difference between the air preheater and the air warmer,resulting in a smaller exergy *** power output of the present design was 1024.28 MW with a coal consumption savings of 3.69 g·(kWh)^(−1).In addition,the present design extracts moisture out of the flue gas to produce 46.48 t·h^(−1)of *** main goal of this work is to provide a theoretical analysis for studying complex thermal power plant systems and various energy conservation and CO_(2)reduction options for conventional power plants.
