Fruits are unarguably one of the main sources of dietary fiber, but are regional Amazonian fruits sources of dietary fiber? The objective of the present study was to assess the nutritional characteristics and fiber contents of fresh fruits with low energy density. The study fruits wereabiu, bacuri, carambola, ingá-cipó, mapati, and taperebá acquired from the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) and collected along kilometers 08 and 60 of highway BR174, AM-Brasil. Ash, protein, lipid, carbohydrate, energy and fiber contents were determined three times. The six fruits have very small and significantly different protein contents (p density. The soluble fiber content of the fruits was generally low, being highest in taperebá (1.51 g). The insoluble fiber fraction prevailed in all six study fruits, with taperebá and mapati presenting the highest (3.14 g) and lowest (0.65 g) insoluble fiber contents, respectively. The dietary fiber contents show that the study fruits can contribute to the composition of diets with appropriate dietary fiber contents and low energy densities.

Large-scale hybrid power plants, composed of two or more generation sources and with the participation of energy storage systems, have driven important electricity Market design regulation discussions worldwide. Regulatory framework ought to be adapted to support technical particularities of these new generation arranges. This paper presents an assessment of the main requirements to be met by Market design to enable hybrid power plants by means of assertive market incentives. Assessing regulatory adjustments promoted in Australia, United States, India, China, and Brazil, emphasizing the latter one, the authors presents a case study by applying specific computational simulation and optimization model to a hybrid Hydro-Solar plant, that supports the findings for the necessary evolution needed in the national regulatory framework in order to enable hybrid projects. The evaluation of international experiences indicates that the insertion of hybrid projects is associated with the design of the market they belong to and demand regulatory adjustments so that their attributes can be properly valued for the benefit of all stakeholders, especially for the electricity consumer.

dear editor, We have read with great interest the recent paper by Herrold et al. （2014） published in Neural Regeneration Research. There is evidence that approximately 20-90% of patients with mild traumatic brain injury develop posttraumatic symptoms, and 40% of these patients have persistent symptoms after trauma （Bazarian et al., 1999; Koski et al., 2015）. Therefore, mild traumatic brain injury becomes an important cause of temporary disability. Indeed, posttraumatic disorders have a significant epidemiological relevance, even though it is still undervalued in most of the trauma centers （Bazarian et al., 1999） and there is no specific treatment method （Koski et al., 2015）. Recently, many neurological and posttraumatic stress disorders had been treated with noninvasive brain stimulation （Boggio et al., 2010; Fox et al., 2012）.

Genetic Correlation between Agronomically Important Traits in Yellow Passion Fruit

Breeding programs have sought to determine the minimum period of genotype evaluation, which is a long term-process. The objective of this work was to determine the association between qualitative traits of yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims) and relate maturity to other characteristics. To carry out this work, 113 families of full-sibs and half-sibs were planted in Viçosa (MG), Brazil, in a randomized block experimental design arranged in sets (treatment groups). The association between the analyzed characteristics was studied using path analysis and canonical correlation techniques. It was found that lower-yielding but larger-fruit bearing genotypes of passion fruit plant also require more days until reaching anthesis. Round-shaped fruits are linked to higher contents of total soluble solids. More intense pulp color also indicates higher contents of total soluble solids. The riper the fruit, the more intensely orange is the color of the pulp. The ratio between the levels of total soluble solids and total titrimetric acidity was the main determinant of pulp color for passion fruit.

Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav. Syn Cyphomandra betacea Cav.) Sendt is a small tree native to the subtropical Andean region of South America from Colombia to Chile, popularly known as arboreal tomato, belonging to the family Solanaceae. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical characteristics of fruits and the germination of tamarillo (Solanum betaceum) seeds produced in the Caparaó-ES and MG regions. The following procedures were performed: Fruit and peel biometrics;fruit weight;pulp and peel weight;thousand-seed weight, pulp and peel yield and fruit dry mass. In the physicochemical analysis, the following parameters were determined: pH;soluble solids;titratable acidity and ratio. For the analysis of the physiological quality of the seeds, different temperatures (20°C;25°C;30°C and 20°C - 30°C) were evaluated in the presence and absence of light and the following was determined: Seed moisture content;germination;germination speed index;germination mean time;shoot length;root and total seedling dry mass. Tamarillo in the region of Caparaó-ES presents greater chemical characteristics of the fruits, germination and vigor, and in the region of Caparaó-MG presents greater physical characteristics of the fruits. Tamarillo can germinate both in the presence and absence of light, although in the presence of light, it presents greater vigor.

The plants of C. arabica do not naturally produce a large number of orthotropic sprouts, hindering clonal multiplication by cutting, which would be the simplest technique with a lower cost of production compared to other methods of vegetative propagation. An alternative form, used successfully in the propagation of eucalyptus, is propagation by minicutting, which consists of pruning the shoot apex of the plant, forming the ministumps, which in variable time interval emits the shoots that will be used to make minicutting. In C. arabica plants the number of shoots can be increased with the application of growth regulators and fertilizers. So, the purpose of this work was to verify the effect of growth regulators and foliar fertilizers on the emission and development of orthotropic shoots of C. arabica. The experiment was installed in a randomized complete block design, with ten treatments composed by growth regulators and fertilizers: T1 (Control);T2 (Stimulate + Sturdy + Enervig);T3 (Stimulate + Vitakelp + Biozyme);T4 (Tiba + Sturdy + Enervig);T5 (Tiba + Vitakelp + Biozyme);T6 (Brs + Sturdy + Enervig) T7 (Brs + Vitakelp + Biozyme);T8 (Stimulate);T9 (TIBA);T10 (Brs-Brassinoesteroid), each plot consisting of two plants. Biometric and physiological parameters were evaluated for the ministumps, as well as the biometric parameters of the shoots and plant survival. The results showed that there was no influence of the treatments on the biometric parameters of the ministumps. A greater number of orthotopic sprouts were obtained in treatments with the TIBA growth regulator, as well as a greater plant survival of the minicuttings, after 25 days of transplanting in a greenhouse. It was concluded that TIBA treatments influenced the production and quality of clonal minicuttings of C. arabica.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is considered a major public health problem because of its high prevalence and progressive increase of incidence. DM chronic complications are major causes of morbidity and mortality, among which diabetic neuropathy (DN) stands out, affecting 30% - 50% of DM patients. An appropriate medical approach, involving anamnesis and thorough clinical examination, is extremely important for the early diagnosis of DN and, therefore, to the prevention of its complications, including the amputation of limbs. despite of the importance of DN prevention and treatment, in order to provide improved quality of life and longevity to DM patients, current therapeutic options are very limited with respect to both symptom control and as effective disease therapies. Intensive glucose control is extremely important in order to prevent and avoid the progression of DN, as demonstrated in two large multicenter studies involving patients with type 1 DM, the DCCT (Diabetes Control and Complications Trial) and the EDIC (Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications).
