In a homojunction device, a single organic layer assumes the multiple roles of hole, electron transportation, and emitter. Its ease in processing is highly desirable from the manufacturing point of view. In this paper, we shall describe the synthesis of a range of bipolar small molecules and conductive vinyl polymers for application in homojunction and heterojunction organic light emitting diodes（OLEDs）. The bipolar materials, in general, consist of three basic building blocks: an arylamine, a 1,3,4-oxadiazole, and a polycyclic aromatic moiety. The achievement of charge balance can be validated either by direct measurement of electron/hole mobility or indirectly via optimization of device properties.A series of conductive vinyl copolymers containing hole transporting N-（4-methoxyphenyl）-N-（4-vinylphenyl）naphthalen-1-amine（4meONPA） and electron transporting 2-phenyl-5-（4-vinylphenyl）-1,3,4-oxadiazole（OXA）at different compositions was applied for heterojunction and homojunction OLEDs. For heterojunction devices employed the copolymers as the hole transporting layer and Alq3as the electron transporting and emitting layer,a maximum luminance and current efficiency of over 23000 cd/m2and 4.2 cd/A（PL of Alq3）, respectively, were achieved at the charge balance composition. Homojunction devices for the copolymers were demonstrated by the addition of rubrene as a dopant. The single layer devices at the optimal copolymer composition has ca 1500 cd/m2and 0.74 cd/A.

Background Klotho proteins （α- and β） are membrane-based circulating proteins that regulate cell metabolism, as well as the lifespan modulating activity of Fibroblast Growth Factors （FGFs）. Recent data has shown that higher plasma circulating Klotho levels reduce cardio- vascular risk, suggesting Klotho has a protective role in cardiovascular diseases. However, although so far it has been identified in various organs, it is unknown whether cardiomyocytes express Klotho and FGFs, and whether high cardiovascular risk could affect cardiac expres- sion ofKlotho, FGFs and other molecules. methods We selected 20 patients with an estimated 10-year high atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and 10 age-matched control subjects with an estimated 10-year low risk undergone cardiac surgery for reasons other than coronary artery by-pass. In myocardial biopsies, we evaluated by immuno-histochemistry whether Klotho and FGFs were expressed in cardiomyo- cytes, and whether higher cardiovascular risk influenced the expression of other molecules involved in endoplasmic reticulum stress, oxida- tive stress, inflammation and fibrosis. Results Only cardiomyocytes of patients with a higher cardiovascular risk showed lower expression of Klotho, but higher expressions of FGFs. Furthermore, higher cardiovascular risk was associated with increased expression of oxidative and endoplasmic reticular stress, inflammation and fibrosis. Conclusions This study showed for the first time that Klotho proteins are ex- pressed in human cardiomyocytes and that cardiac expression of Klotho is down-regulated in higher cardiovascular risk patients, while expression of stress-related molecules were significantly increased.

In this article dedicated to the modeling of vertical mass transfers between the biofilm and the bulk flow, we have, in the first instance, presented the methodology used, followed by the presentation of various results obtained through analyses conducted on velocity fields, different fluxes, and overall transfer coefficients. Due to numerical constraints (resolution of relevant spatial scales), we have restricted the analysis to low Schmidt numbers (Sc=0.1, Sc=1, and Sc=10) and a single roughness Reynolds number (Re*=150). The analysis of instantaneous concentration fields from various simulations revealed logarithmic concentration profiles above the canopy. In this zone, the concentration is relatively homogeneous for longer times. The analysis of results also showed that the contribution of molecular diffusion to the total flux depends on the Schmidt number. This contribution is negligible for Schmidt numbers Sc≥0.1, but nearly balances the turbulent flux for Sc=0.1. In the canopy, the local Sherwood number, given by the ratio of the total flux (within or above the canopy) to the molecular diffusion flux at the wall, also depends on the Schmidt number and varies significantly between the canopy and the region above. The exchange velocity, a purely hydrodynamic parameter, is independent of the Schmidt number and is on the order of 10% of in the present case. This study also reveals that nutrient absorption by organisms near the wall depends on the Schmidt number. Such absorption is facilitated by lower Schmidt numbers.

Preterm birth （PTB） is the leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. A transition from an anti-inflammatory state to a pro-inflammatory state in the mother and at the maternal-fetal interface has been implicated in the pathophysiology of microbial-induced preterm labor. However, it is unclear which immune cells mediate this transition. We hypothesized that an imbalance between innate and adaptive immune cells at the maternal-fetal interface will occur prior to microbial-induced preterm labor. Using an established murine model of endotoxin-induced PTB, our results demonstrate that prior to delivery there is a reduction of CD4 ＋ regulatory T cells （Tregs） in the uterine tissues. This reduction is neither linked to a diminished number of Tregs in the spleen, nor to an impaired production of ILIO, CCL17, or CCL22 by the uterine tissues. Endotoxin administration to pregnant mice does not alter effector CD4＋ T cells at the maternal-fetal interface. However, it causes an imbalance between Tregs （CD4＋ and CD8＋）, effector CD8＋ T cells, and Th17 cells in the spleen. In addition, endotoxin administration to pregnant mice leads to an excessive production of CCL2, CCL3, CCL17, and CCL22 by the uterine tissues as well as abundant neutrophils. This imbalance in the uterine microenvironment is accompanied by scarce APC-like cells such as macrophages and mHC II ＋ neutrophils. Collectively, these results demonstrate that endotoxin administration to pregnant mice causes an imbalance between innate and adaptive immune cells at the maternal-fetal interface.

In order to promote convenient strategies for the utilization of wood wastes from aucoumea klaineana pierre(okoume)timber industry,various chemical analysis were carried out on samples from different *** extractives content of the bark,sapwood and heartwood of okoume were *** analyses were performed and the stiasny number was *** was found that the bark was richer in fatty acid of high molecular weight while the sapwood was rich in fatty acid of low molecular *** condensed tannins content varied according to the origin and the part of the *** new findings should be useful for green okoume based tannin adhesives.

Foreign body ingestion encompasses both foreign object ingestion(FOI) and esophageal food impaction(EFI) and represents a common and clinically significant scenario among patients of all ages. The immediate risk to the patient ranges from negligible to life-threatening, depending on the ingested substance,its location, patient fitness, and time to appropriate therapy. This article reviews the FOI and EFI literature and highlights important considerations and implications for pediatric and adult patients as well as their providers. Where published literature is insufficient to provide evidence-based guidance, expert opinion is included to supplement the content of this comprehensive review.

Resuscitation of septic shock is a complex issue because the cardiovascular disturbances that characterize septic shock vary from one patient to another and can also change over time in the same patient. Therefore, different therapies (fluids, vasopressors, and inotropes) should be individually and carefully adapted to provide personalized and adequate treatment. Implementation of this scenario requires the collection and collation of all feasible information, including multiple hemodynamic variables. In this review article, we propose a logical stepwise approach to integrate relevant hemodynamic variables and provide the most appropriate treatment for septic shock.
