Radio-Anatomical Study of Anterior Variants of the Polygon of Willis

The anterior system of the polygon of Willis plays an anastomotic role between the carotid territories a.d.communicates with the posterior system. It ensures adequate cerebral blood flow in the event of internal occlusion. Its ability to redistribute blood flow depends on its morphology, the presence a.d.size of the vessels that constitute it a.d.their variants, knowledge of which is essential. The morphology of the carotid system is not constant a.d.a number of variants are well recognized with greater hemodynamic importance. In this context, we undertook this work which aims to seek the anatomical variants of the anterior part of the PW;to determine the diameters of the vessels of the latter a.d.to correlate these results with epidemiological data. We carried out a retrospective, descriptive a.d.analytical study over a period of 4 months at Fann University Hospital, targeting patients who had undergone brain MRI with a 3d TOF sequence whatever the indication. Patients with lesions of cerebrovascular pathologies such as ischemia, hemorrhage, aneurysm, arteriovenous malformations or presenting a limited analysis examination due to the presence of kinetic or other artifact, were not included. demographic data a.d.anatomical variants were studied as well as the measurements of any continuous arterial segment greater than 0.8 mm in diameter. Those less than 0.8 mm in diameter were considered hypoplastic. The C3 segment of the internal carotid arteries, the A1 segment of the anterior cerebral arteries, the anterior communicating artery, constituted our main measurement sites. The sex ratio was 1.06, the mean age of the patients was 43 years ± 17.9 with extremes of 11 a.d.85 years. The anterior configuration of the polygon was complete in 57.5% representing 50% of men a.d.65.5% of women, in 56% of subjects under 40 years old a.d.58% in subjects over 40 years old. Lithostratigraphy a.d.Characterisation of Paleocene Limestones for Optimal Exploitation (Senegal, West Africa): Comparative Study of the Ba.d.a a.d.Popenguine Quarries

Limestones of different facies in the Senegal basin are most commonly used as aggregates, rega.d.ess of their petrographic properties. These differences may influence their behaviour. The aim of this paper is to study the stratigraphy a.d.characterise the limestones of the Ba.d.a a.d.Popenguine quarries. Sampling a.d.geochemical a.d.geotechnical characterisation were carried out on these limestones. The results show the presence of several very different facies in the Paleocene formation. The geochemical study shows that the Ba.d.a limestones (Bd2) have the highest CaCO3 percentages (98.54%) a.d.the highest SiO2 percentages were recorded in the Popenguine limestones (Pop2). The study also gives MdE values of 22.38 a.d.LA of 22, which are acceptable for use in road construction. It is important to carry out a complete study in order to select the right materials for optimal use.

Comparative Characteristics of Hydrated Lime with Fine Sewage Sludge Ash (FSSA) a.d.Coal Fly Ash (CFA)

The disposal of waste has become an environmental issue due to the limited available la.d.illing space. This paper aims to compare the characteristics of hydrated lime with fine sewage sludge ash (FSSA) a.d.coal fly ash (CFA). Multiple techniques, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRd), the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), compressive strengths, thermophysical properties, a.d.setting time were used to assess the physicochemical characteristics of the lime-based materials. X-ray fluorescence a.d.X-ray diffraction were used to determine the chemical composition a.d.phases of ashes, lime a.d.binders. The results showed that the chemical composition of ashes is similar to that of cement. Besides glass, the main minerals identified in CFA a.d.FSSA are quartz (SiO2) a.d.anhydrite (CaSO4). Moreover, calcium aluminium oxide (Ca3Al2O6) was detected for CFA a.d.phosphorus calcium silicate (Ca2SiO4-Ca3(PO4)2) for FSSA a.d.minor phases were detected for both. FTIR measurements were carried out to characterize the inorganics components of different samples. Compressive strengths of mortars with different formulations have shown that both have a long-term positive effect which might be related to a pozzolanic activity. For the CFA the L3 binder consisting of 60% of coal fly ash a.d.40% lime has a higher compressive strength than the others while for the FSSA the L4 binder consisting of 80% fine ash a.d.20% lime has a higher compressive strength than the others. Both binders setting start times are greater than that of cement but shorter than that of lime. The study of the thermophysical properties of binders shows that they have a higher thermal resistance than cement mortar. Action potentials(APs)in neurons are generated at the axon initial segment(AIS).AP dynamics,including initiation a.d.propagation,are intimately associated with neuronal excitability a.d.neurotransmitter release *** learning a.d.memory studies at the single-neuron level have relied on the use of animal models,most notably ***,we studied AP initiation a.d.propagation in cultured hippocampal neurons from Sprague-dawley(Sd)rats a.d.C57BL/6(C57)mice with genetically encoded voltage indicator(GEVI)-based voltage *** data showed that APs traveled bidirectionally in neurons from both species;forwa.d.propagating APs(fpAPs)had a.d.fferent speed than backpropagating APs(bpAPs).a.d.tionally,we observed distinct AP propagation characteristics in AISs emerging from the somatic envelope compared to those originating from *** with rat neurons,mouse neurons exhibited higher bpAP speed a.d.lower fpAP speed,more distally located ankyrin G(AnkG)in AISs,a.d.longer Nav1.2 lengths in ***,during AIS plasticity,AnkG a.d.Nav1.2 showed distal shifts in location a.d.shorter lengths of labeled AISs in rat neurons;in mouse neurons,however,they showed a longer AnkG-labeled length a.d.more distal Nav1.2 *** findings suggest that hippocampal neurons in Sd rats a.d.C57 mice may have different AP propagation speeds,different AnkG a.d.Nav1.2 patterns in the AIS,a.d.different AIS plasticity properties,indicating that comparisons between these species must be carefully considered.

Intake Nutritional Variabilities of Saba senegalensis Fruits

Saba senegalensis is a popular wild fruit;which is consumed as such or transformed into various products. despite its economic potential, its nutritional potential is unknown. The objective of this study is to characterize its fruits according to Senegal’s main production areas. The study included five samples from five geographical areas of Senegal. Parameters measured include pH, protein, lipids, ash, moisture, vitamin C, carotenoids, polyphenols, minerals, a.d.sugars. The results showed that for moisture, proteins, lipids, pH a.d.reducing sugars did not differ significantly (p 0.05%) for all accessions. Vitamin C content varies between 32.86 a.d.198.22 mg·100g-1, carotenoids with a content of between 5.05 a.d.9.12 mg·100g-1;polyphenol contents are between 1.17 a.d.2.56 g·100g-1. The nutritional value of Saba fruits appears to be homogeneous in Senegal. A thorough study of the functional molecules seems necessary for a better appreciation of the potential of this fruit.

Study of the Frequency of Superficial Ca.d.diasis at the Fann National Hospital: Search for Ca.d.da auris

Background: Superficial ca.d.diasis is a very frequent opportunistic disease caused by yeasts of the genus Ca.d.da. Among Ca.d.da types, some, such as Ca.d.da auris, have developed resistance to several antifungal agents. The objective of this study was to determine the hospital frequency of superficial ca.d.diasis diagnosed at the CHU Fann a.d.to investigate the presence of C. auris among the identified Ca.d.da strains. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from February to June 2019. It involved all patients received at the Parasitology-Mycology laboratory of the CHU of Fann for suspected superficial ca.d.diasis. Nails, skin, a.d.vaginal specimens were subjected to direct examination a.d.culture to identify yeasts of the genus Ca.d.da. The Ca.d.da strains were then tested by molecular biology targeting the specific C. auris ITS2 region. Results: A total of 1196 patients were examined. One thousa.d.two hundred a.d.five specimens (1205) were collected, including 1042 vaginal specimens, 92 nail specimens, a.d.71 skin specimens. Superficial ca.d.diasis was diagnosed in 408 patients (37%). Women (34.52%) a.d.patients under 30 years of age (39.60%) were the most affected. Yeasts of the genus Ca.d.da were found in 411 specimens (349 vaginal swabs, 36 nail fragments, a.d.26 skin flakes) by routine mycological techniques. The Ca.d.da albicans complex (C. albicans, C. dubliniensis, a.d.C. africana) represented 75.91% of the Ca.d.da strains isolated. Molecular biology did not identify C. auris. Conclusion: Superficial ca.d.diasis remains very common in hospitals in Senegal. Ca.d.da auris was not found in our study. due to its rapid spread, surveillance is necessary to prevent epidemics in our hospitals.
