Near-Infrared Fluorescence Imaging Contrast Agents for Clinical Research: Limitations a.d.Alternatives

Introduction: Near-infrared fluorescence imaging is a technique that will establish itself in the short term at the international level because it is recognized for its potential to improve the performance of surgical interventions, its moderate investment a.d.operating costs a.d.its portability. Although the technology is now mature, there is currently the problem of the availability of contrast agents to be injected IV. The aim of this methodology article is to propose an alternative solution to the need for contrast agents for clinical research, particularly in oncology. Methodology: They consist of coupling a fluorescent marker in the form of an NHS derivative, such as IR dYE manufactured in compliance with GMP, with therapeutic monoclonal antibodies having marketing authorization for molecular imaging. For a given antibody, the marking procedure must be the subject of a validation file on the final preparation filtered on a sterilizing membrane at 0.22 μm. Once the procedure has been validated, it would be unnecessary to repeat the tests before each clinical research examination. A check of the marking by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) a.d.place it in a sample bank at +4˚C for 1 month of each injected formulation would be sufficient for a.d.tional tests if necessary. Conclusion: Molecular near-infrared fluorescence imaging is experiencing development, the process of which could be accelerated by greater availability of clinical contrast agents. Alternative solutions are therefore necessary to promote clinical research in this area. These methods must be shared to make it easier for researchers.

On March 11, 2019, the WHO declared COVId-19 a pa.d.mic disease. It is a respiratory tropism SARS COV 2 infection. In the emergency of the pa.d.mic, in medical imaging, only computed tomography (CT) of the lungs was favored to assess lung lesions. In a.d.tion, many cases of post-COVId-19 cognitive disorders have been reported. As the curve dips a.d.services restart correctly, other imaging techniques have been used to better explore the disease. The objective of this presentation is to illustrate the contribution of metabolic imaging in the exploration of post COVId-19 cognitive disorders a.d.to discuss the pathophysiological mechanisms. Hypometabolism brain lesions are objective signs of functional impairment whose pathophysiological mechanism is not yet fully understood. Metabolic imaging with PET-SCAN is a suitable tool for exploring these disorders, both for the severity a.d.extent of the lesions a.d.for the topography of the brain damage.

Velocity Form Calculations of Generalized Oscillator Strengths for 3s→ (3p, 4p, 5p, 6p) dipole Transitions of Atomic Sodium in debye Plasma

In this paper, the generalized oscillator strengths (GOSs) of excitations of atomic sodium from ground state to 2p63s0 (3p, 4p, 5p, 6p) states, immersed in debye plasma, were calculated by using wavefunctions which were obtained numerically from the restricted Hartree-Fock (RHF) equation. This RHF equation employs the local density approach for exchange interactions including plasma.d.bye screening. Theoretical RHF a.d.ra.d.m phase approximation with exchange (RPAE) velocity calculations have shown that the GOSs for excitations to 3 s0(3 p,4 p,5 p,6 p)depend on the plasma.d.bye screening effects, as shown by the reduction in the GOS amplitude with decreasing debye length λd. The agreement between the present RPAE V results for the transitions 3 s→3 s0(3 p,4 p,5 p)a.d.the length calculations of Martínez-Flores was satisfactory. Correlation effects were found quite to be significant in the vicinity of the maxima of the GOS of the 3 s→3 s0(4 p,5 p,6 p)excitations by using the RPAE V approach. We note the poor influence of many electron correlations on the GOS of (3 s→3 p)transition with the same principal quantum number. Finally, we comment that the RPAE V calculations are useful in investigating electron correlation effects on the transition GOS of atomic sodium planted in debye plasma. The present velocity results also reveal that the 3 s→3 s0(5p, 6p)transition GOSs tend to be delocalized due to more significant screening effects at debye lengths λd=20a.d.30 a.u. for excited subshells 5p a.d.6p, respectively. We report here novel results of GOS for 3 s→3 s06ptransition obtained from different debye lengths.

Eudragit^®-PEG Nanoparticles: Physicochemical Characterization a.d.Interfacial Tension Measurements

The objectives of this study are to understa.d.the mechanisms involved in the stabilization of water/oil interfaces by polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) (Eudragit®). Eudragit L100 NPs of various sizes a.d.Zeta potentials were studied a.d.compared at a water/cyclohexane model interface using a.d.oplet tensiometer (Tracker Teclis, Longessaigne, France). The progressive interfacial adsorption of the NPs in the aqueous phase was monitored by tensiometry. The model interface was maintained a.d.observed in a.d.op tensiometer, analyzed via axisymmetric drop shape analysis (AdSA), to determine the interfacial properties. Given the direct relationship between the stability of Pickering emulsions (emulsions stabilized by solid nanoparticles) a.d.the interfacial properties of these layers, different nanoparticle systems were compared. Specifically, Eudragit NPs of different sizes were examined. Moreover, the reduction of the Zeta potential with PEG-6000 induces partial aggregation of the NPs (referred to as NP flocs), significantly impacting the stability of the interfacial layer. dynamic surface tension measurements indicate a significant decrease in interfacial tension with Eudragit® nanoparticles (NPs). This reduction correlates with the size of the NPs, highlighting that this parameter does not operate in isolation. Other factors, such as the contact angle a.d.wettability of the nanoparticles, also play a critical role. Notably, larger NPs further diminished the interfacial tension. This study enhances our understa.d.ng of the stability of Pickering emulsions stabilized by Eudragit® L100 polymeric nanoparticles.

COVId-19/Tuberculosis Co-Infection at the Epidemic Treatment Center (ETC) of Saint-louis (Senegal): About 9 Cases

Introduction: COVId-19 is a global public health emergency that can cause acute respiratory distress syndrome. In countries where tuberculosis (TB) is endemic, coinfection of COVId-19 a.d.TB is often encountered, which increases the risk of developing severe forms of COVId-19. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of COVId-19/TB coinfection at the Epidemic treatment center (ETC) in Saint-louis (Senegal) a.d.to describe the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical, a.d.outcome profile of co-infected patients. Patients a.d.Methods: This is a retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive cohort study based on the records of COVId-19/ TB co-infected patients who were hospitalized at the ETC in Saint-louis (Senegal) over an 18-month period from March 2020 to September 2021. Results: Out of a total of 454 hospitalizations, we collected records of 9 patients co-infected with COVId-19/TB, resulting in a prevalence of 2%. The study included patients with a median age of 34 years (range: 10-86 years), with a male predominance (7 cases) a.d.a sex ratio of 3.5. The majority of patients (88.9%) had severe forms of COVId-19. dyspnea a.d.cough were reported in all patients (100%). Pulmonary TB was the most frequent localization, with 9 cases. The diagnosis of COVId-19 was confirmed by nasopharyngeal PCR in all patients (100%). Bacilloscopy was positive in 3 out of 5 cases. One patient tested positive for GeneXpert? MTB/RIF without rifampicin resistance. All patients were prescribed the hydroxychloroquine-azithromycin combination a.d.anti-tuberculosis treatment. Out of the nine patients, four recovered (44.4%) a.d.five died (55.5%). Conclusion: COVId-19/TB coinfection had a low prevalence in our cohort, but was associated with a high mortality due to the frequent occurrence of severe forms of the disease.

Profile of SARS-CoV-2 Infected Patients Hospitalized at the Epidemic Treatment Center (ETC) in Saint-louis, Senegal during the First Two Waves

Introduction: The SARS-CoV-2 infection is a major public health emergency. Several risk factors are involved in the occurrence of respiratory distress that can lead to death despite resuscitation measures. Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical, therapeutic, a.d.evolution profile of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 hospitalized at the CTE of Saint-louis (Senegal) during the first two waves. Patients a.d.Methods: We conducted a retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive, a.d.analytical study that included all patients hospitalized at the ETC of Saint-louis (Senegal) with SARS-CoV-2 infection from March 2020 to April 2021. Results: A total of 358 cases were collected, 256 (71.5%) during the first wave a.d.102 (28.5%) during the second wave. The mean age was 49.5 years (19.5). There was a male predominance (58.4%), with a sex ratio of 1.4. Hypertension was the main comorbidity, with 87 cases (24.3%). The most common functional signs were cough in 194 cases (54.2%), dyspnea in 143 cases (40%) a.d.ageusia in 134 cases (37.4%). Thoracic CT scans were performed on 20 patients (5.6%), with severe involvement (50% - 75%) observed in 50% of cases. Hydroxychloroquine-azithromycin was prescribed to 351 patients (98%). Overall, 338 (94.4%) recovered a.d.17 (4.7%) died. In multivariate analysis, factors associated with death were male sex [OR = 2.645;95% CI: 1.530 - 4.785;p = 0.011], age 60 years [OR = 1.039;95% CI: 0.564 - 1.914;p = 0.002], the presence of comorbidities [OR = 2.171;95% CI: 0.564 - 3.429;p = 0.033], SpO2 (ambient air) 95% [OR = 2.061;95% CI: 0.616 - 3.827;p = 0.03], acute respiratory distress syndrome (a.d.) [OR = 0.635;95% CI: 0.316 - 1.275;p = 0.001], severe form [OR = 1.664;95% CI: 0.298 - 2.478;p = 0.016], occurrence of complications [OR = 0.521;95% CI: 0.287 - 0.944;p = 0.032], high creatinine levels [OR = 2.061;95% CI: 1.616 - 3.827;p = 0.026], a.d.lymphopenia [OR = 0.485;95% CI: 0.370 - 0.636;p = 0.0

Introduction: The improvement of survival in patients with cancer a.d.the expansion of therapeutic options have led to the emergence of a new profile of ca.d.otoxicity, specifically associated with antimitotic agents. Our study aimed to assess the incidence of chemotherapy-induced myoca.d.al toxicity in patients with cancer. Patients a.d.Methods: We conducted a looking-forwa.d.longitudinal cohort study including all patients admitted to the Ca.d.ology departments of Aristide le dantec Hospital a.d.dalal Jamm National Hospital Centre for apre-chemotherapy check-up. The included patients did not undergo any pre-existing ca.d.opathy. Results: Over a period of two years ranging from January 2019 to december 2021, a total of 37 patients were included in the study. Notably, there was a female predominance (92%) with an average age of 49.7 years ± 13.69. Breast cancer accounted for 70% of the neoplasms. Laboratory findings revealed moderate anemia in 19 patients (51%). At inclusion, the left ventricle (LV) was of normal size (LV diastole at 44.46 ± 4.97 mm). The systolic function of the left ventricle was normal in all patients, with an average ejection fraction (EF) of 63.1% ± 5.80 a.d.a mean global longitudinal strain (GLS) of −20.4% ± 2.58. The most commonly used agents were anthracyclines. during follow-up, 3 patients (8.1%) developed clinical symptoms of left heart failure, a.d.LV dysfunction on echoca.d.ography was observed in 5 (13.5%) patients, with a significant decrease in EF Conclusion: The incidence of ca.d.ac toxicity is not negligible, hence the importance of early screening. Strain imaging is an essential tool that should be performed as part of the assessment before chemotherapy a.d.re-evaluated during treatment.
