Molecular dynamics simulations have been employed to investigate displacement cascades in Ni3Al, with energy Ep in the range from 0.15 to 10 keV. The efficiency of production of Frenkel pairs declines with the increasing cascade energy in a fashion similar to that found recently for pure metals. The antisite defects are much more numerous than the Frenkel pairs, and their production efficiency increases with the increasing cascade energy. A new empirical relationship between the defect number and damage energy is proposed, namely Ndefect = AEpm. A high proportion of the atomic mixing occurs in the ballistic phase and is larger for the Ni atoms, implying that the phenomenon is not purely a liquid-like process.

In their seminal papers Hanahan and Weinberg described oncogenic processes a normal cell undergoes to be transformed into a cancer *** functions of ion channels in the gastrointestinal(GI)tract influence a variety of cellular processes,many of which overlap with these hallmarks of *** this review we focus on the roles of the calcium(Ca^2+),sodium(Na^+),potassium(K^+),chloride(Cl^-)and zinc(Zn^2+)transporters in GI cancer,with a special emphasis on the roles of the KCNQ1 K+channel and CFTR Cl-channel in colorectal cancer(CRC).Ca^2+is a ubiquitous second messenger,serving as a signaling molecule for a variety of cellular processes such as control of the cell cycle,apoptosis,and *** members of the TRP superfamily,including TRPM8,TRPM7,TRPM6 and TRPM2,have been implicated in GI cancers,especially through overexpression in pancreatic adenocarcinomas and down-regulation in colon ***-gated sodium channels(VGSCs)are classically associated with the initiation and conduction of action potentials in electrically excitable cells such as neurons and muscle *** VGSC NaV1.5 is abundantly expressed in human colorectal CRC cell lines as well as being highly expressed in primary CRC *** have demonstrated that conductance through NaV1.5 contributes significantly to CRC cell invasiveness and cancer ***2+transporters of the ZIP/SLC39A and ZnT/SLC30A families are dysregulated in all major GI organ cancers,in particular,ZIP4 up-regulation in pancreatic cancer(PC).More than 70 K+channel genes,clustered in four families,are found expressed in the GI tract,where they regulate a range of cellular processes,including gastrin secretion in the stomach and anion secretion and fluid balance in the intestinal *** distinct types of K+channels are found dysregulated in the GI *** are hERG1 upregulation in PC,gastric cancer(GC)and CRC,leading to enhanced cancer angiogenesis and invasion,and KCNQ1 down-regulation in CR

Providing stable combustion of lean-burn natural gas engines was always a bigchallenge, particularly during a low load operation. In transient sea conditions, there is an additional concern due to irregular time-varying loads. Therefore, this study aimed at investigatingthe part-load operation of a marine spark-ignition lean-burn natural gas engine by simulatingthe entire engine. The engine’s essential components are modeled, including air manifold,intake valves, fuel system, controllers, combustion chamber, exhaust valves, exhaust manifoldand *** steady-state, the results of emission compounds from modeling have been compared tomeasured data from 25% to 100% loads. For transient conditions, for the sample time of about50 min, the fuel flow and turbocharger output are selected from the vessel logged data andcompared with the simulation results. The model has shown the great potential of predictingthe engine response throughout the steady-state and transient conditions. Simulating the engineat part-load transient condition showed that the unburned hydrocarbon formation, known asmethane slip in lean-burn gas engines, is more than the part-load steady-state. This increaseof methane slip is due to the combustion instability in lower loads and flame extinguishingin such transient conditions. The engine measured data shows a double amount of methane slipin a 25% load than the 100% load in steady-state. However, the simulation output in the transient conditions confirms an increase in methane slip over four times than equivalentsteady-state load. Moreover, the lean-burn gas engine releases less NOX in part-load operationin a steady-state due to lower in-cylinder temperature. In transient conditions, there is remarkable instability in excess air ratio. Due to this instability, there is a rich mixture in instantaneoustime steps during loads up. Therefore, it will result in an unusually high amount of NOX, andmore than two times in comparison with the equivalent

A successful simulation still requires the user to have good simulation knowledge and well developed modeling skills despite a large number of simulation software products available to users. This paper presents the design principles and implementation of a layered modeling system known as General-Purpose user-defined Modeling System (GPMS) which provides the user with multiple accesses to build a simulation model at three different levels of knowledge and skills. It does this by purpose-designed GPMS simulation language, which is briefly described in this paper.

Call Detailed Records(CDR)are generated and stored in Mobile Networks(MNs)and contain subscriber’s information about active or passive usage of the network for various communication *** spatio-temporal nature of CDR makes them a valuable dataset used for forensic *** in technology have led to the seamless communication across Multiple Mobile Network(MMN),which poses a threat to the availability and integrity of CDR *** CDR implementation is capable of logging peer-to-peer communications over single connection only,thus necessitating improvements on how the CDR data is stored for forensic *** this paper,the problem is solved by identifying and conceptually modelling six new artifacts generated by such communication *** newly identified artifacts are introduced into the existing CDR for an incident capturing of the required data for forensic analysis during investigations involved in the MMN *** show an improved absolute speed of 0.0058 s for the MMN-CDR to associate a suspect with an incident,which is 0.0038 s faster than the speed of 0.0097s for the existing CDR to associate a suspect with an ***,a novel method for forensically tracking calls over the MMN has been *** MMN-CDR,when forensically analyzed,reveals an increase in time efficiency over the existing CDR due to its high absolute ***,higher accuracy and completeness percentage are both obtained.

The solvent selection methodology developed earlier by. Gani （tal. （Comp. Chem. Eng., 2005）has been extended to handle multi-step reaction systems. The solvent selection problem was formulated based on the methodology guidelines, and solved using ICAS software tool. A list with solvent candidates is generated so that it can be further investigated experimentally. Comments and clarifications from chemists have been incorporated into the problem forrnulations to clarify the role of the solvents in the chemistry and potential reactivity issues. Highly promising results were obtained, in accordance with. industrial process data.

Using a fractal model, we give a new interpretation of the reversed sigmoidal curves of fracture surface profile length obtained in some experiments. It is pointed out that a single parameter (fractal dimension D) is not sufficient to characterize a fractal curve completely. It is shown that the initiator length L-0 is also important to characterize a fractal curve. We have derived a formula which correlate the fracture energy with the fractal parameters of the fracture surfaces and analyzed some experimental data.
