Analytical Solutions for an Isotropic Elastic Half-Plane with Complete Surface Effects Subjected to a Concentrated/Uniform Surface Load

Effect of inflammatory response on joint function after hip fracture in elderly patients:A clinical study

BACKGROUND Excellent hip joint function facilitates limb recovery and improves the quality of *** study aimed to investigate the potential risk factors affecting postoperative joint functional activity and outcomes in elderly hip fractures patients and to provide evidence for patient rehabilitation and clinical *** To explore the relationship between inflammatory factors and hip function and the interaction between inflammation and health after hip fracture in elderly *** The elderly patients who had hip fracture surgery at our hospital between January 1,2021,and December 31,2022 were chosen for this retrospective clinical *** with excellent and fair postoperative hip function had their clinical information and characteristics gathered and ***,gender,fracture site,surgical technique,laboratory indices,and other variables that could have an impact on postoperative joint function were all included in a univariate *** further identify independent risk factors affecting postoperative joint function in hip fractures,risk factors that showed statistical significance in the univariate analysis were then included in a multiple logistic regression *** addition to this,we also compared other outcome variables such as visual analogue scale and length of hospital stay between the two *** A total of 119 elderly patients with hip fractures were included in this study,of whom 37 were male and 82 were *** results of univariate logistic regression analysis after excluding the interaction of various factors showed that there was a statistically significant difference in interleukin(IL)-6,IL-8,IL-10,C-reactive protein(CRP),and complement C1q(C1q)between the fair and excellent joint function groups(P20 pg/mL[Odds ratio(OR)3.070,95%CI:1.243-7.579],IL-8>21.4 pg/mL(OR 3.827,95%CI:1.498-9.773),CRP>10 mg/L(OR 2.142,95%CI:1.

Multi-gradient drilling is a new offshore drilling *** accurate calculation of the related wellbore temperature is of great significance for the prediction of the gas hydrate formation area and the precise control of the wellbore *** this study,a new heat transfer model is proposed by which the variable mass flow is properly taken into *** this model,the effects of the main factors influencing the wellbore temperature are *** results indicate that at the position where the separation injection device is installed,the temperature increase of the fluid in the drill pipe is mitigated due to the inflow/outflow of hollow spheres,and the temperature drop of the fluid in the annulus also *** addition,a lower separation efficiency of the device,a shallower installation depth and a smaller circulating displacement tend to increase the temperature near the bottom of the annulus,thereby helping to reduce the hydrate generation area and playing a positive role in the prevention and control of hydrates in deepwater drilling.

Timosaponin AⅢ induces drug-metabolizing enzymes by activating constitutive androstane receptor(CAR) via dephosphorylation of the EGFR signaling pathway

The current study aimed to assess the effect of timosaponin AⅢ(T-AⅢ) on drug-metabolizing enzymes during anticancer therapy. The in vivo experiments were conducted on nude and ICR mice. Following a 24-day administration of T-AⅢ, the nude mice exhibited an induction of CYP2B10, MDR1, and CYP3A11 expression in the liver tissues. In the ICR mice, the expression levels of CYP2B10 and MDR1 increased after a three-day T-AⅢadministration. The in vitro assessments with HepG2 cells revealed that T-AⅢ induced the expression of CYP2B6, MDR1, and CYP3A4, along with constitutive androstane receptor(CAR) activation. Treatment with CAR siRNA reversed the T-AⅢ-induced increases in CYP2B6 and CYP3A4 expression. Furthermore, other CAR target genes also showed a significant increase in the expression. The up-regulation of murine CAR was observed in the liver tissues of both nude and ICR mice. Subsequent findings demonstrated that T-AⅢ activated CAR by inhibiting ERK1/2 phosphorylation, with this effect being partially reversed by the ERK activator *** of the ERK1/2 signaling pathway was also observed in vivo. Additionally, T-AⅢinhibited the phosphorylation of EGFR at Tyr1173 and Tyr845, and suppressed EGF-induced phosphorylation of EGFR, ERK,and CAR. In the nude mice, T-AⅢ also inhibited EGFR phosphorylation. These results collectively indicate that T-AⅢ is a novel CAR activator through inhibition of the EGFR pathway.

Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Undular Tidal Bores in the Qiantang River Based on Field Observations

Understanding the undular tidal bores in the Qiantang River is essential for effective river management and *** breaking tidal bores have been studied extensively, reports on undular tidal bores in the Qiantang Riverremain limited. Furthermore, observed data on undular tidal bores fulfilling the requirements of short measurementtime intervals, and spring, medium, and neap tide coverage, and providing detailed data for the global vertical stratificationof flow velocity are quite limited. Based on field observations at Qige in the Qiantang estuary, we analyzedthe characteristics of undular tidal bores. The results showed that the flooding amplitude (a) of the first wave isalways larger than its ebbing amplitude (b). Moreover, the vertical distribution of the maximum flood velocity exhibitesthree shapes, influenced by the tidal range, while that of the maximum ebb velocity exhibites a single shape. Duringthe initial phase of the flood tide in the spring and medium tides, the upper water body experiences multiple oscillatingchanges along the flow direction, corresponding to the alternating process of the crest and trough of the tide levelupon the arrival of the tidal bore. The tidal range is a crucial parameter in tidal bore hydrodynamics. By establishingthe relationship between hydrodynamic parameters and tidal range, other hydrodynamic parameters, such as the tidalbore height, maximum flood depth–averaged velocity, maximum flood stratified velocity at the measurement points,and duration of the flood tide current, can be effectively predicted, thereby providing an important reference for rivermanagement and maintenance.

Seedling dynamics differ between canopy species and understory species in a tropical seasonal rainforest,SW China

We used 11 years of census data from 450 seedling quadrats established in a 20-ha forest dynamics plot to study seedling dynamics in tree species of a tropical seasonal rainforest in Xishuangbanna,southwestern *** found that overall seedling recruitment rate and relative growth rate were higher in the rainy season than in the dry *** the recruitment rate of seedlings from canopy tree species(two species)and the relative growth rate of seedlings from understory species(nine species)were higher in the rainy season than in the dry ***,in the rainy season,the recruitment rate of seedlings was higher for canopy tree species than for understory tree *** addition,relative growth rate of seedlings was higher in the canopy species than in understory seedlings in the dry *** also observed that,in both rainy and dry seasons,mortality rate of seedlings was higher for canopy species than for understory ***,canopy tree species appear to have evolved a flexible strategy to adapt to the seasonal changes of a monsoon *** contrast,understory tree species seem to have adopted a conservative ***,these species mainly release seedlings in the rainy season and maintain relatively stable populations with a lower mortality rate and recruitment rate in both dry and rainy *** study suggests that canopy and understory seedling populations growing in forest understory may respond to future climate change scenarios with distinct regeneration strategies.

Photocatalytic carbon dioxide(CO_(2))to carbon monoxide(CO)offers a promising way for both alleviating the greenhouse effect and meeting the industrial ***,we constructed a Co single-atom catalyst with intentional low-coordination environment design on porous ZnO(denoted as Co1/ZnO).Impressively,Co1/ZnO exhibited a remarkable activity with a CO yield rate of 22.25 mmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) and a selectivity of 80.2%for CO_(2) photoreduction reactions under visible *** incorporation of single Co atoms provided an additional photo-generated electron transfer channel,which suppressed the carrier recombination of ***,the unsaturated Co active sites were capable to adsorb CO_(2) molecule spontaneously,thus facilitating the activation of CO_(2) molecule during CO_(2) reduction course.
