Monitoring and predicting highly localized weather events over a very short-term period,typically ranging from minutes to a few hours,are very important for decision makers and public *** these events usually relies on radar observations through monitoring and *** advanced high-resolution imaging and sounding observations from weather satellites,nowcasting can be enhanced by combining radar,satellite,and other data,while quantitative applications of those data for nowcasting are advanced through using machine learning *** applications include monitoring the location,impact area,intensity,water vapor,atmospheric instability,precipitation,physical properties,and optical properties of the severe storm at different stages(pre-convection,initiation,development,and decaying),identification of storm types(wind,snow,hail,etc.),and predicting the occurrence and evolution of the *** observations can provide information on the environmental characteristics in the preconvection stage and are very useful for situational awareness and storm *** paper provides an overview of recent progress on quantitative applications of satellite data in nowcasting and its challenges,and future perspectives are also addressed and discussed.

Developing a mucosal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 is critical for combatting the ***,we investigated long-term immune responses and protection against SARS-CoV-2 for the intranasal vaccination of a triple receptor-binding domain(RBD)scaffold protein(3.-nC)adjuvanted with a flagellin protein(KFD)(3.-nC+KFDi.n).In mice,the vaccination elicited RBD-specific broad-neutralizing antibody responses in both serum and mucosal sites sustained at high level over a *** long-lasting humoral immunity was correlated with the presence of long-lived RBD-specific IgG-and IgA-producing plasma cells,alongside the Th17 and Tfh17-biased T-cell responses driven by the KFD *** upon these preclinical findings,an open labeled clinical trial was conducted in individuals who had been primed with the inactivated SARS-CoV-2(IAV)*** a favorable safety profile,the 3.-nC+KFDi.n boost elicited enduring broad-neutralizing IgG in plasma and IgA in salivary *** meet the challenge of frequently emerged variants,we further designed an updated triple-RBD scaffold protein with mutated RBD combinations,which can induce adaptable antibody responses to neutralize the newly emerging variants,including *** findings highlight the potential of the KFD-adjuvanted triple-RBD scaffold protein is a promising prototype for the development of a mucosal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 infection.

LaFe_(11.8)Si_(1.2)/10 wt%Ce_(60)Co_(40) composites were prepared by spark plasma sintering and subsequent diffusion annealing.A novel core-shell structure is observed with the LaFe11.8Si1.2 particles as the core and the(La,Ce)_(2)(Fe,Co,Si)_(17)(2:17)phase as the *** diffusion annealing time(t_(a))increases,this core-shell structure is replaced by the formation of the(La,Ce)_(1)(Fe,Co,Si)_(13. *** at 13.3.K for 12 h results in samples with(-ΔSM)^(max) of 9.3. j/(kg·K)(Δμ0H=2 T),good mechanical properties((σbc)^(max)=402 MPa,ε=4.21%)and thermal conductivity of 8.7 W/(m·K).Thus,bulk composites with excellent comprehensive properties for magnetic refrigeration are obtained in this work.

Space debris is a major problem for all the nations that are currently active in space. Adopting high-precision measuring techniques will help produce a reliable and accurate catalog for space debris and collision avoidance. Laser ranging is a kind of real-time measuring technology with high precision for space debris observation. The first space-debris laser-ranging experiment in china was performed at the Shanghai Observatory in july 2008 with a ranging precision of about 60-80 cm. The experi- mental results showed that the return signals from the targets with a range of 900 km were quite strong, with a power of 40W （2j at 20 Hz） using a 10ns pulse width laser at 53. nm wavelength. The performance of the preliminary laser ranging system and the observed results in 2008 and 2010 are also introduced.

numerical simulation research on multiphase flow of aviation centrifugal pump based on OpenFOAM

This paper aims to tackle the calculation efficiency problem raised in the cavitation-flow simulation of the aviation centrifugal pump due to the fading-away interface resulting from the dissipation of numerics used in the phase-change control equation for unstructured-grid multiphase flow,and due to the limitation of flow time-step in whole flow regimes,the control equation of vapor–liquid two-phase flow considering cavitation mass transport is established firstly,modifying the momentum equation by introducing the surface tension,and adding the artificial convective flow to the phase equation to solve the numerical dissipation ***,in consideration of the local time step principle and based on the multi-dimensional general limiter algorithm with explicit solutions under the OpenFOAM platform,a solution method of steady-state VOF (Volume of Fluid) model considering cavitation two-phase change is constructed,and the feasibility of this method is verified by nACA hydrofoil and nASA flat plate ***,based on the platform developed,the cavitation performance of an aviation centrifugal pump inducer is *** research results show that the error of the calculated cavitation pressure distribution for nACA hydrofoil between the simulation test and the experimental-test is less than 5%,and the maximum error of calculated cavitation number at pump head dropping for nASA high-speed flat plate inducer between the simulation test and the experimental-test is 2.1%.The cavitation area observed in the simulation test is the same as that obtained in the high-speed photography *** on the OpenFOAM simulation method,the position of pump head dropping of the fuel centrifugal pump can be accurately *** error of the calculated cavitation number at pump head dropping between the simulation test and the experimental test is about 3.7%,showing high calculation accuracy.

An anti-icing scaling method for wind tunnel tests of aircraft thermal ice protection system

The efficiency of the aircraft Ice Protection Systems(IPSs)needs to be verified through icing wind tunnel ***,the scaling method for testing the IPSs has not been systematically established yet,and further research is *** the present study,a scaling method specifically designed for thermal IPSs was derived from the governing equation of thin water *** scaling parameters were adopted to address the heat and mass transfer involved in the thermal anti-icing *** method validation,icing wind tunnel tests were conducted using a jet engine nacelle model equipped with a bleed air *** non-dimensional surface temperature and runback ice closely matched for both the reference and scaled *** validation confirms that the scaling method is capable of achieving the similarity of surface temperature and the runback ice *** anti-icing scaling method can serve as an important supplement to the existing icing similarity theory.

M-n-C(M=Fe,Co,ni,etc.) catalyst owns high catalytic activity in the oxygen catalytic reaction which is the most likely to replace the Pt-based *** it is still a challenge to further increase the active site *** article constructs the high-efficiency FeMn-n/S-C-1000 catalyst to realize ORR/OER bifunctional catalysis by hetero-atom,bimetal(Fe,Mn) doped simultaneously *** evaluated it as bi-functional electro-catalysts,FeMn-n/S-C-1000 exhibits excellent catalytic activity(E_(1/2)=0.924 V,E_(j=10)=1.617 V) in alkaline media,outperforms conventional Pt/C,RuO_(2) and most non-precious-metal catalysts reported recently,Such outstanding performance is owing to n,S co-coordinated with metal to form multi-types of single atom,dual atom active sites to carry out ***,nitrite poison test provides the proof that the active sites of FeMn-n/S-C are more than that of single-atom catalysts to promote catalytic reactions *** better understand the local structure of Fe and Mn active sites,XAS and DFT were employed to reveal that FeMn-n_5/S-C site plays the key role during ***,the FeMn-n/S-C-1000 based low-temperature rechargeable flexible Zn-air also exhibits superior discharge performance and extraordinary durability at-40℃.This work will provide a new idea to design diatomic catalysts applied in low-temperature rechargeable batteries.

numerical study of steady flow characteristics of a rear variable-area bypass injector with alternating area regulator

The mixing effectiveness of the airflow between the inner and outer bypass inlets of a Rear Variable-Area Bypass Injector(RVABI)is the key to the afterburner performance of variable cycle *** paper describes an optimized RVABI design based on an alternating area regulator to improve the velocity/temperature uniformity of the incoming flow at the *** with a classical RVABI,numerical simulations show that the proposed alternating RVABI performs better in terms of thermal mixing efficiency and total pressure loss in different variable cycle engine *** the increasing air contact area between the inner and outer bypass of alternating structure RVABI,and a larger streamwise vortex in the inner bypass inlet due to the proposed alternating lobe structure in the RVABI contribute to the significantly increase of mixing ***,the alternating regulator induces strong streamwise vortex,which helps to improve the airflow mixing with its vortex-induced *** interaction between the streamwise vortex and azimuthal vortex further promises the velocity/temperature uniformity after the *** the increase of alternating lobe’s height ratio,the covering area of the streamwise vortex and the azimuthal vortex is enlarged,which further enhances the thermal mixing efficiency of the *** design gives an insight into the future design and optimization of RVABI.

Improving constraint onΩ_(m)from SDSS using marked correlation functions

Large-scale structure(LSS)surveys will increasingly provide stringent constraints on our cosmological ***,the density-marked correlation function(MCF)has been introduced,offering an easily computable density-correlation *** have demonstrated that MCFs offer additional,independent constraints on cosmological models beyond the standard two-point correlation(2PCF).In this study,we apply MCFs for the first time to SDSS CMASS data,aiming to investigate the statistical information regarding clustering and anisotropy properties in the Universe and assess the performance of various weighting schemes in MCFs,and finally obtain constraints onΩ_(m).Upon analyzing the CMASS data,we observe that,by combining different weights(α=[-0.2,0,0.2,0.6]),the MCFs provide a tight and independent constraint on the cosmological parameterΩ_(m),yieldingΩ_(m)=0.293.0.006 at the 1σlevel,which represents a significant reduction in the statistical error by a factor of 3.4 compared to that from *** constraint is consistent with recent findings from the small-scale clustering of BOSS galaxies(Zhai et ***.j.948,99(2023.)within the 1σ***,we also find that our estimate is lower than the Planck measurements by about 2.6σ,indicating the potential presence of new physics beyond the standard cosmological model if all the systematics are fully *** method outlined in this study can be extended to other surveys and datasets,allowing for the constraint of other cosmological ***,it serves as a valuable tool for forthcoming emulator analysis on the chinese Space Station Telescope(CSST).
