Unraveling the impacts of intermolecular interaction on morphology evolution for highly efficient organic solar cells and modules

Understanding the effect of intermolecular interaction on the growth dynamic of active layers is critical for advancing organic solar cells(OSCs). However, the diverse structure of donors and acceptors makes the research challenging. Additives with customizable structures and properties could simplify this complexity. Herein, we meticulously tailor two additives of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene(EDOT) and 2,5-dibromo-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene(DBEDOT), possessing distinct intermolecular interaction features to elaborate the inherent relationship. It is found that varied interaction strengths can alter film formation processes. The enhanced intermolecular interaction between the DBEDOT and non-fullerene acceptor BTP-e C9-4F results in pre-aggregation and longer crystallization duration of BTP-e C9-4F, facilitating the formation of films with compact molecular packing and decent phase separation. Thus, exciton dissociation and charge transport become more efficient. Finally, devices processed with DBEDOT exhibit a remarkable power conversion efficiency of 19.35% in small-area OSCs and 14.11% in bladecoated 5 cm × 5 cm organic solar mini-modules. Especially, OSCs can maintain 80% of their initial efficiency after continuous annealing at 85 °C for over 2,100 h.

Solar energy is one of the most popular clean energy sources and is a promising alternative to fulfill the increasing energy demands of modem society. Solar cells have long been under intensive research attention for harvesting energy from sunlight with a high power-conversion efficiency and low cost. However, the power outputs of photovoltaic devices suffer from fluctuations due to the intermittent instinct of the solar radiation. Integrating solar cells and energy- storage devices as self-powering systems may solve this problem through the simultaneous storage of the electricity and manipulation of the energy output. This review the research progress in the integration of new-generation solar cells with supercapacitors, with emphasis on the structures, materials, performance, and new design features. The current challenges and future prospects are discussed with the aim of expanding research and development in this field.

Up-Scalable Fabrication of SnO_(2)with Multifunctional Interface for High Performance Perovskite Solar Modules

Tin dioxide(SnO_(2))has been demonstrated as one of the promising electron transport layers for high-efficiency perovskite solar cells(PSCs).However,scalable fabrication of SnO_(2) films with uniform coverage,desirable thickness and a low defect density in perovskite solar mod-ules(PSMs)is still ***,we report preparation of high-quality large-area SnO_(2) films by chemical bath depo-sition(CBD)with the addition of KMnO_(4).The strong oxidiz-ing nature of KMnO_(4) promotes the conversion from Sn(II)to Sn(VI),leading to reduced trap defects and a higher carrier mobility of SnO_(2).In addition,K ions diffuse into the per-ovskite film resulting in larger grain sizes,passivated grain boundaries,and reduced hysteresis of ***,Mn ion doping improves both the crystallinity and the phase stability of the perovskite *** a multifunctional interface engineering strategy enabled us to achieve a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 21.70% with less hysteresis for lab-scale *** this method,we also fabricated 5×5 and 10×10 cm^(2) PSMs,which showed PCEs of 15.62% and 11.80%(active area PCEs are 17.26%and 13.72%),*** the encapsulated 5×5 cm^(2) PSM,we obtained a T80 operation lifetime(the lifespan during which the solar module PCE drops to 80%of its initial value)exceeding 1000 h in ambient condition.

Effect of Geometric Variation of Root Fillet on the Flow Characteristic of a Transonic Compressor Rotor

The effects of root fillet on the flow behavior of high loading compressor rotor tends to be much more crucial in practice,and it’s necessary to explore the internal relations between the geometric effects of root fillet and the flow behaviors of rotor ***,eight types of root fillet with different radius were designed and installed around the blade root of NASA *** the aids of fillet,the corner separation near suction side of blade root has been suppressed significantly in that the root fillet reconstructs the circumferential bending distributon of the suction-side curve from leading edge to trailing edge,and reduces the genmetric turning angle in the latter part of root section near trailing ***,apart from the improvement of corner flow characteristic caused by root fillet,both the tip flow deterioration and the decrease of stall margin occur in the new rotors,which indicates an indirect correlation between tip flow characteristic and root fillet exists indeed in the three-dimensional flowfields of transonic ***,by means of the new radial pressure equilibrium affected by root fillet,a larger radius of root fillet contributes to much larger blade loading and stronger leakage flow in tip region of compressor *** a result,a monotonic decrease of stall margin was present in the transonic rotor with increase of the root fillet ***,the positive bending of blade tip was introduced to deal with the negative effect caused by the root fillet *** with the effects of root fillet and positive tip-bending on the radial pressure equilibrium existing in channels,both the radial and streamwise loading distributions tend to be much more reasonable in new rotors,and the static pressure difference in former 1/3 chord of blade tip has decreased clearly which benefits to reduce the strength of leakage flow in tip ***,the flow deterioration in tip region of transonic rotor induced by root fillet ha

Tip leakage flow has become one of the major triggers for rotating stall in tip region of high loading transonic compressor *** with active flow control method,it’s wise to use blade tip modification to enlarge the stable operating range of ***,three pressure-side winglets with the maximum width of 2.0,2.5 and 3.0 times of the baseline rotor,are designed and surrounded the blade tip of NASA rotor 37,and the three new rotors are named as RPW1,RPW2,and RPW3 *** numerical results show that the width of pressure-side winglet has significant influence on the stall margin and the minimum throttling massflow of rotor,while it produces less effect on the choking massflow and the peak efficiency of new *** the width of the pressure-side winglet increases from new rotor RPW1 to RPW3,the strength of leakage massflow has been attenuated dramatically and a reduction of 20%in leakage massflow rate has appeared in the new rotor *** contrast,the extended blade tip caused by winglet has not introduced much more aerodynamic losses in tip region of rotor,and the new rotors with different width of pressure-side winglet have the similar peak efficiency to the *** new shape of the leakage channel over blade tip which replaces of the static pressure difference near blade tip has dominated the behavior of the leakage flow in tip *** both the new aerodynamic boundary and throat in tip gap have reshaped by the low-velocity flow near the solid wall of extended blade tip,the discharging velocity and massflow rate of leakage flow have been suppressed obviously in new *** addition,the increasing inlet axial velocity at the entrance of new rotor has increased slightly as well,which is attributed to the less blockage in the tip region of new *** consideration of the increased inlet axial velocity and the weakened leakage flow,the new rotor presents an appropriately linear increase of the stall margin when the width of pressure-

A facile 3-step synthetic approach to 3-halo-4-substituted-l,5-dihydro-4H-1,2,4-triazolme-5-thiones （la--lk） from corresponding unhalogenated 8a---8i was developed based on the strategy of retro-Michael addition, with the key steps being regioselective S-alkylation of compounds 8a-8i with ethyl 3-iodopropionate（12c） and alkaline cleavage of the propionate protecting group via retro-Michael addition. The synthetic approach was characterized by simplicity of operation and wide substrate scope.

Effect of Polymer Chain Regularity on the Photovoltaic Performance of Organic Solar Cells

In this work,regio-regular and random polymers(reg-PTF and ran-PTF)comprising benzodithiophene and 3-fluorothiophene units are developed to investigate the influence of polymer chain regularity on the photovoltaic ***,reg-PTF exhibits higher HOMO energy level(∼0.2 eV)than that of ran-PTF due to the more ordered molecular structure and higher *** the result,the HOMO energy level offset between donor and acceptor can be well controlled by selecting different *** BTP-ec9-4F with a much deep HOMO energy level as acceptor,reg-PTF-based devices display an inferior PCE of 7.66%compared with ran-PTF based ones(11.78%)due to the too large HOMO energy levels *** blending with Y18-1F,the PCE of reg-PTF-based devices is increased to 13.23%due to the appropriate energy *** comparison,the ran-PTF-based devices nearly do not work because of the negative HOMO energy levels *** work indicates that both the polymer chain regularity and the energy level offset between the donor and acceptor material are important to the performance of organic solar cells.

In conventional crystalline silicon （Si） homojunction solar cells,a strategy of doping by transporting phosphorus or boron impurities into Si is commonly used to build Ohmic contacts at rear ***,this technique involves an energy intensive,high temperature （～ 800 ℃） process and toxic doping *** phosphorus （BP） is a two-dimensional,narrow bandgap semiconductor with high carrier mobility that exhibits broad light harvesting ***,we place BP：zinc oxide （ZnO） composite films between Si and aluminum （Al） to improve their *** the BP harvests photons with energies below 1.1 eV from the crystalline Si,the ZnO carrier concentration increases dramatically due to charge *** photo-induced doping results in a high carrier concentration in the ZnO film,mimicking the modulated doping technique used in semiconductor *** show that photo-induced carriers dramatically increase the conductivities of the BP-modified ZnO films,thus reducing the contact resistance between Si and Al.A photovoltaic power conversion efficiency of 15.2% is achieved in organic-Si heterojunction solar cells that use a ZnO：BP *** findings demonstrate an effective way of improving Si/metal contact via a simple,low temperature process.
