Effects of grape seed extract on meat color and premature browning of meat patties in high-oxygen packaging

This study investigated the effects of grape seed extract(GSE)on fresh and cooked meat color and premature browning(PMB)in ground meat patties(85% beef and 15% pork back fat)packaged under high-oxygen modified atmospheres(HiOx-MAP).The GSE was added to patties at concentrations of 0,0.10,0.25,0.50 and 0.75 g kg^(-1).This study evaluated the surface color,pH,lipid oxidation,and total viable counts(TVC)of raw patties,and the internal color and pH of patties cooked to a temperature of 66 or 71℃ over 10-day storage at 4℃.Compared with the control(0 g kg^(-1) GSE),GSE improved the color stability(P0.05)on *** containing 0.50 and 0.75 g kg^(-1) GSE cooked to 66℃ exhibited greater(P<0.05)interior redness than the control and reduced the PMB of cooked patties in the late storage *** results suggested that 0.50 and 0.75 g kg^(-1) GSE can improve fresh meat color and minimize PMB of HiOx-MAP patties.

Oxidized mitochondrial DNA sensing by STING signaling promotes the antitumor effect of an irradiated immunogenic cancer cell vaccine

Exposure to ionizing radiation,a physical treatment that inactivates live tumor cells,has been extensively applied to enhance the antitumor responses induced by cancer cell vaccines in both animal research and human clinical ***,the mechanisms by which irradiated cells function as immunogenic tumor vaccines and induce effective antitumor responses have not been fully ***,we demonstrate that oxidized mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)and stimulator of interferon genes(STING)signaling play a key roles in the enhanced antitumor effect achieved with an irradiated tumor cell *** in ROS and oxidized mtDNA 8-OHG content could be induced in irradiated tumor *** mtDNA derived from irradiated tumor cells gained access to the cytosol of dendritic cells(DCs).Oxidized mtDNA,as a DAMP or adjuvant,activated the STING-TBK1-IRF3-IFN-β pathway in DCs,which subsequently cross-presented irradiated tumor cell-derived antigens to CD8^(+)T cells and elicited antitumor *** results of our study provide insight into the mechanism by which an irradiated cell vaccine mediates antitumor immunity,which may have implications for new strategies to improve the efficacy of irradiated vaccines.

Competitive role of film-like austenite and transition carbides on hydrogen embrittlement resistance and impact toughness in bainite-containing quenched and partitioned steel

A microstructure composed of martensite matrix,lower bainite,and stable film-like austenite was designed by a quenching and isothermal bainitic holding process in a 0.30C–2.69Mn–1.71Si(wt.%)*** yield strength,tensile strength,and ductile-to-brittle transition temperature(DBTT)of the high-strength steel thus obtained were 1263 MPa,1521 MPa,and-33℃,respectively,and at-20℃,it showed superior low-temperature toughness,which reached 77.5 J/cm^(2).Meanwhile,it showed excellent hydrogen embrittlement(HE)resistance,and the total elongation loss is only 3.1%after 15 min of hydrogen *** excellent comprehensive performance is attributed to the fact that fine stable austenite with film-like morphology hindered the crack nucleation and propagation,and hindered hydrogen diffusion as a hydrogen ***,with a decrease in the isothermal temperature,transition carbide precipitation was accompanied by a further decrease in austenite grain *** this condition,although transition carbides can act as effective hydrogen traps,excessive precipitation decreased the carbon content of retained austenite and increased the deformation heterogeneity between austenite and martensite matrix,leading to weakened austenite stability and HE resistance,a total elongation loss of approximately 39%(15 min hydrogen charging),a sharp decrease in impact toughness,and an increase in *** competitive role of film-like austenite and transition carbides on the comprehensive mechanical performance of steel is revealed,especially the suppression of crack nucleation and propagation that will provide a guide for the design of high strength steels with excellent impact toughness and HE resistance.

Functional Investigation of a GRIN2A Variant Associated with Rolandic Epilepsy

N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors（NMDARs）, a subtype of glutamate-gated ion channels, play a central role in epileptogenesis. Recent studies have identified an increasing number of GRIN2 A（a gene encoding the NMDAR GluN2A subunit） mutations in patients with epilepsy. Phenotypes of GRIN2 A mutations include epilepsy-aphasia disorders and other epileptic encephalopathies, which pose challenges in clinical treatment. Here we identified a heterozygous GRIN2 A mutation（c.1341 T[A, p.N447 K） from a boy with Rolandic epilepsy by whole-exome sequencing. The patient became seizurefree with a combination of valproate and *** investigation was carried out using recombinant NMDARs containing a GluN2A-N447 K mutant that is located in the ligand-binding domain of the GluN2A subunit. Whole-cell current recordings in HEK 293 T cells revealed that the N447 K mutation increased the NMDAR current density by;.2-fold, enhanced the glutamate potency by 2-fold, and reduced the sensitivity to Mg;inhibition. These results indicated that N447 K is a gain-offunction mutation. Interestingly, alternative substitutions by alanine and glutamic acid at the same residue（N447 A and N447 E） did not change NMDAR function, suggesting a residual dependence of this mutation in altering NMDAR function. Taken together, this study identified human GluN2A N447 K as a novel mutation associated with epilepsy and validated its functional consequences in *** of this mutation is also helpful for advancing our understanding of the role of NMDARs in epilepsy and provides new insights for precision therapeutics in epilepsy.

Visible light-driven oxidant-free dehydrogenation of alcohols in water using porous ultrathin g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheets

Graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4)) is a fascinating photocatalyst for solar energy utilization in ***,it often suffers from moderate photo-catalytic activity due to its low specific surface area and fast recombination rate of photogenerated electrons upon ***,we overcome the bottlenecks by constructing a porous g-C_(3)N_(4) nanosheet(PCNS)through a simple thermal oxidation etching *** from its porous layer structure,the obtained PCNS exhibits large specific surface area,efficient separation of photogenerated charge carriers,as well as high exposure of active *** a result,it is robust and universal in visible light-driven dehydrogenation of alcohols in water under oxidant-free *** quantitative yields(>99%)of various valuable carbonyl compounds were obtained over PCNS,while bulk g-C_(3)N_(4) was far less ***,the photo-catalyst was highly stable and could be facilely recovered from the aqueous system for efficient *** easy preparation and excellent performance made PCNS a promising and competitive photocatalyst for the solar applications.

Development of organic semiconductors is one of the most intriguing and productive topics in material science and engineering. Many efforts have been made on the synthesis of aromatic building blocks such as benzene, thiophene and pyrrole due to the facile preparation accompanied by the intrinsic environmental stability and relatively efficient properties of the resulting polymers. In the past, furan has been less explored in this field because of its high oxidation potential. Recently, furan has attracted obsession due to its weaker aromaticity, the greater solubilities of furan-containing π-conjugated polymers relative to other benzenoid systems and the accessibility of furan-based starting materials from renewable resources. This review elaborates the advancements of organic photovoltaic polymers containing furan building blocks. The uniqueness and advantages of furan-containing building blocks in semiconducting materials are also discussed.

Simulation and analysis of O_(2)-CaO jet behavior with different shrouding fuel mediums in electric arc furnace steelmaking

The O_(2)-CaO jet with shrouding combustion flame demonstrates some advantages in quick melting and effective slag foaming by delivering lime powder deeply into the molten *** the discrete particle model and the eddy dissipation concept model with the detailed chemical kinetic mechanisms(GRI-Mech 3.0),computational fluid dynamics models of the O_(2)-CaO jet with different shrouding fuel mediums injection were ***,the results of the numerical simulation were validated by the measured data of cold test for O_(2)-CaO ***,the interaction between the particles and the gas jet of the O_(2)-CaO jet and the effect of shrouding fuel medium species on the fluid flow characteristics of the O_(2)-CaO jet were *** show that the CaO particles can be effectively heated by the shrouding high-temperature combustion flame and compared with the O_(2)-CaO jet without shrouding gas,the potential core length was increased about 2.5,3.3 and 4.3 times by the shrouding flame generated from CO,CH_(4) and C_(3)H_(8).And with shrouding CH_(4) and C_(3)H_(8) injection,the CaO particles can be clustered together in a long distance,which would be helpful to improve the utilization efficiency of CaO particles.

A bi-population immune algorithm for weapon transportation support scheduling problem with pickup and delivery on aircraft carrier deck

The weapon transportation support scheduling problem on aircraft carrier deck is the key to restricting the sortie rate and combat capability of carrier-based *** paper studies the problem and presents a novel solution *** the interference of the carrier-based aircraft deck layout on the weapon transportation route and precedence constraint into consideration,a mixed integer formulation is established to minimize the total objective,which is constituted of makespan,load variance and accumulative transfer time of support *** approach is developed for the ***,based on modeling the carrier aircraft parked on deck as convex obstacles,the path library of weapon transportation is constructed through visibility graph and Warshall-Floyd *** then propose a bi-population immune algorithm in which a population-based forward/backward scheduling technique,local search schemes and a chaotic catastrophe operator are ***,the randomkey solution representation and serial scheduling generation scheme are adopted to conveniently obtain a better *** Taguchi method is additionally employed to determine key parameters of the ***,on a set of generated realistic instances,we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms all compared algorithms designed for similar optimization problems and can significantly improve the efficiency,and that the established model and the bi-population immune algorithm can effectively respond to the weapon support requirements of carrier-based aircraft under different sortie missions.

Ag-decorated 3D flower-like Bi_(2)MoO_(6)/rGO with boosted photocatalytic performance for removal of organic pollutants

A series of unique 3D flower-like Bi_(2)MoO_(6)(BMO)/reduced graphene oxide(rGO)heterostructured composites decorated with varying amounts of Ag nanoparticles(NPs)were *** morphological characteristics,structural features,energy band structures and photoelectrochemical properties were systematically *** the Ag/BMO/rGO ternary composites(AgBGy;y=1%,2%and 3%)demonstrated greater photocatalytic activity towards efficient removal of our selected organic models[methyl orange(MO),rhodamine B(RhB)and phenol],as compared with the BMO/rGO binary composites(BG-x;x=0.25,2,4 and 5).Particularly,AgBG-2%,which was synthesized with the addition of 2 wt% rGO and 2 wt%Ag in BMO,possessed superior photocatalytic *** fitted rate constants(k)for the photocatalytic degradation of RhB,MO and phenol using AgBG-2% were estimated to be 0.0286,0.0301 and 0.0165 min^(-1),respectively,which were over one order of magnitude greater than those obtained using pure *** factors may contribute to the observed enhancement,including greater specific surface area,enhanced light absorption,promoted spatial separation of electronhole(e^(-)-h^(+))pairs and their suppressed recombination,especially benefiting from the synergistic effects among BMO,rGO and Ag *** work suggests that the rational design of BMO/rGO/Ag ternary composite was an effective strategy to boost the photocatalytic activity of the resulting catalyst towards the highly efficient removal of organic pollutants from water.
