Metal-free carbon,as the most representative heterogeneous metal-free catalysts,have received considerable interests in electro-and thermo-catalytic reac-tions due to their impressive performance and *** the past decade,well-designed carbon catalysts with tunable structures and heteroatom groups coupled with various characterization techniques have proposed numerous reaction ***,active sites,key intermediate species,precise structure-activity relationships and dynamic evolution processes of carbon catalysts are still rife with controversies due to the monotony and limitation of used experimental *** this Review,we sum-marize the extensive efforts on model catalysts since the 2000s,particularly in the past decade,to overcome the influences of material and structure limitations in metal-free carbon *** both nanomolecule model and bulk model,the real contribution of each alien species,defect and edge configuration to a series of fundamentally important reactions,such as thermocatalytic reactions,electrocatalytic reactions,were systematically *** with in situ techniques,isotope labeling and size control,the detailed reaction mechanisms,the precise 2D structure-activity relationships and the rate-determining steps were revealed at a molecular ***,the outlook of model carbon catalysis has also been proposed in this work.

Meibomian glands segmentation in infrared images with limited annotation

●AIM:To investigate a pioneering framework for the segmentation of meibomian glands(MGs),using limited annotations to reduce the workload on ophthalmologists and enhance the efficiency of clinical diagnosis.●MeTHODS:Totally 203 infrared meibomian images from 138 patients with dry eye disease,accompanied by corresponding annotations,were gathered for the study.A rectified scribble-supervised gland segmentation(RSSGS)model,incorporating temporal ensemble prediction,uncertainty estimation,and a transformation equivariance constraint,was introduced to address constraints imposed by limited supervision information inherent in scribble *** viability and efficacy of the proposed model were assessed based on accuracy,intersection over union(IoU),and dice coefficient.●ReSULTS:Using manual labels as the gold standard,RSSGS demonstrated outcomes with an accuracy of 93.54%,a dice coefficient of 78.02%,and an IoU of 64.18%.Notably,these performance metrics exceed the current weakly supervised state-of-the-art methods by 0.76%,2.06%,and 2.69%,***,despite achieving a substantial 80%reduction in annotation costs,it only lags behind fully annotated methods by 0.72%,1.51%,and 2.04%.●CONCLUSION:An innovative automatic segmentation model is developed for MGs in infrared eyelid images,using scribble annotation for *** model maintains an exceptionally high level of segmentation accuracy while substantially reducing training *** holds substantial utility for calculating clinical parameters,thereby greatly enhancing the diagnostic efficiency of ophthalmologists in evaluating meibomian gland dysfunction.

Oxygen evolution reaction(OeR)catalysts are the key core materials that determine the performance of fuel cells,metal-air batteries,electrolytic water decomposition,and other *** this work,a green lignin-based non-precious metal OeR catalyst was prepared by a simple ***,c arboxylated lignin was used to complex Ni and Co in situ,and then they were placed with sodium hypophosphite in the same tube furnace for upstream and downstream high-temperature calcination to construct a lignin carbon-based Ni-Co bimetallic OeR catalyst(NiCoP@C).The synthesized catalyst is a porous bimetallic phosphide with a three-dimensional network structure and high-density electrochemical active ***@C exhibited favorable catalytic activity for the oxygen evolution reaction(OeR)with overpotential of 280 mV at 10 mA·cm~(-2)and a Tafel slope of 77 mV·dec~(-1).Additionally,it exhibited remarkable durability during *** functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed that by leveraging the distinctive structure of transition metal phosphide nanoparticles incorporated into a reticulated substrate,the NiCoP@C catalyst offered an increased number of active sites for OeR catalysis,significantly enhancing its stability during practical *** present study broadens the utilization pathways of biomass to"turn waste into treasure,"aligning the development concept of green sustainable development.

Classification of congenital cataracts based on multidimensional phenotypes and its association with visual outcomes

Coniopteris simplex is a common component in many jurassic ***,due to morphological variations in sterile fronds and incomplete preservation of reproductive organs,its classification has been controversial for a long ***,we present new material collected from the Middle jurassic Yan’an Formation in the Ordos Basin,Inner *** new material reveals important morphological characters,including hemi-dimorphic fronds,two forms of sterile pinnae,short-stalked sori and sporangia on fertile fronds,annulus of sporangium composed of about 30 cells,in situ rounded triangular spores with protruded suture,and the lips of trilete laesura encircled by one or two rows of small *** on these observations,we emended the diagnosis of this common *** spatio-temporal distribution of Coniopteris simplex shows that the iconic species was restricted to the paleolatitudes ranging from 19.5°N to 48.9°N in the Northern Hemisphere during the early—Late jurassic,mainly distributed in the tropical to paratropical zones,and the paleolongitude ranging from 9.6°e to 129.3°e,which may be limited by the opening of the Viking Corridor and the splitting of the Central Atlantic Ocean.

A pH/ROS dual-responsive system for effective chemoimmunotherapy against melanoma via remodeling tumor immune microenvironment

Chemotherapeutics can induce immunogenic cell death(ICD)in tumor cells,offering new possibilities for cancer ***,the efficiency of the immune response generated is insufficient due to the inhibitory nature of the tumor microenvironment(TMe).Here,we developed a pH/reactive oxygen species(ROS)dual-response system to enhance chemoimmunotherapy for *** system productively accumulated in tumors by specific binding of phenylboronic acid(PBA)to sialic acids(SA).The nanoparticles(NPs)rapidly swelled and released quercetin(QUe)and doxorubicin(DOX)upon the stimulation of tumor microenvironment(TMe).The in vitro and in vivo results consistently demonstrated that the NPs improved anti-tumor efficacy and prolonged survival of mice,significantly enhancing the effects of the *** study revealed DOX was an ICD inducer,stimulating immune responses and promoting maturation of dendritic cells(DCs).Additionally,QUe served as a TMe regulator by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2(COX2)-prostaglandin e2(PGe2)axis,which influenced various immune cells,including increasing cytotoxic T cells(CLTs)infiltration,promoting M1 macrophage polarization,and reducing regulatory T cells(Tregs)*** combination synergistically facilitated chemoimmunotherapy efficacy by remodeling the immunosuppressive *** work presents a promising strategy to increase anti-tumor efficiency of chemotherapeutic agents.
