Widespread and active piezotolerant microorganisms mediate phenolic compound degradation under high hydrostatic pressure in hadal trenches

Enhancement of low-temperature toughness of Fe-Mn-C-Al alloy by rare earth Ce-modified inclusions

Fe-Mn-C-Al alloys have been recognized as promising materials for certain low-temperature applications due to their exceptional mechanical properties and ***,their limited low-temperature toughness restricts their large-scale applications in specific *** influence of trace amounts of rare earth cerium(Ce)on the low-temperature toughness of Fe-18Mn-0.6C-1.8Al alloys was *** addition of Ce effectively alters the inclu-sions in the alloy,transforming large-sized irregular inclusions into fine ellipsoidal rare earth *** leads to a significant reduction in both the proportion and average size of the inclusions,resulting in their effective dispersion throughout the matrix and improved cryogenic *** presence of Ce-containing inclusions within the matrix reduces stress concentration,thereby inhibiting microcrack formation and improving impact absorption ***-cally,the addition of rare earth Ce alters the fracture behavior of the material at room temperature and low temperature,changing from brittle cleavage fracture to a more ductile failure *** impact toughness of the Fe-Mn-C-Al alloy is significantly improved by the addition of 0.0048 wt.%Ce,particularly at-196℃where the impact toughness reaches 103.6 J/cm^(2.,representing an impressive improvement of 87.3%.

Host-induced silencing of MpPar6 confers Myzus persicae resistance in transgenic rape plants

Plant-mediated RNA interference(RNAi)has emerged as a promising technology for insect *** green peach aphid,Myzus persicae,feeds on over 400 species of host *** napus(rape)is the second most important oilseed crop *** persicae is highly reproductive and causes severe damage to the rape plants due to its quite flexible life *** this study,we tested the RNAi effects of transgenic rape plants on *** in vitro feeding *** with artificial diets containing double-stranded RNAs(dsRNAs)targeting seven aphid genes,we identified a new gene encoding the partitioning-defective protein 6(Par6)as the most potent RNAi ***-and stage-expression analysis of Par6 suggested this gene is highly expressed in the embryo and adult stage of *** next generated transgenic rape plants expressing ds Par6 by Agrobacteriummediated transformation and obtained nine independent transgenic *** to wild-type control plants,transgenic rape lines expressing ds Par6 showed strong resistance to *** assays revealed that feeding transgenic rape plants to *** significantly decreased MpPar6 expression and survival rate and impaired ***,we showed that the resistance levels to *** are positively correlated with ds Par6 expression levels in transgenic rape *** study demonstrates that transgenic rape plants expressing ds Par6 are efficiently protected from *** with the genes involved in embryo development could be the effective RNAi targets for controlling aphids and potentially other insect pests.

FSS: algorithm and neural network accelerator for style transfer

Neural networks(NNs), owing to their impressive performance, have gradually begun to dominate multimedia processing. For resource-constrained and energy-sensitive mobile devices, an efficient NN accelerator is necessary. Style transfer is an important multimedia application. However, existing arbitrary style transfer networks are complex and not well supported by current NN accelerators, limiting their application on mobile devices. Moreover, the quality of style transfer needs improvement. Thus, we design the Fast Style system(FSS), where a novel algorithm and an NN accelerator are proposed for style transfer. In FSS, we first propose a novel arbitrary style transfer algorithm, Fast Style. We propose a light network that contributes to high quality and low computational complexity and a prior mechanism to avoid retraining when the style changes. Then, we redesign an NN accelerator for Fast Style by applying two improvements to the basic NVIDIA deep learning accelerator(NVDLA) architecture. First, a flexible dat FSM and wt FSM are redesigned to enable the original data path to perform other operations(including the GRAM operation)by software programming. Moreover, statistics and judgment logic are designed to utilize the continuity of a video stream and remove the data dependency in the instance normalization, which improves the accelerator performance by 18.6%. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed Fast Style can achieve higher quality with a lower computational cost, making it more suitable for mobile devices. The proposed NN accelerator is implemented on the Xilinx VCU118 FPGA under a 180-MHz clock. Experimental results show that the accelerator can stylize 512.512.pixel video with 2. FPS, and the measured performance reaches up to 306.07 GOPS. The ASIC implementation in TSMC 2. nm achieves about 2. FPS in the case of a 72.-p video.

The biological signaling molecule nitric oxide(NO)has recently emerged as a metabolic precursor for the creation of microbial natural products with diversified structures and biological *** the biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs)of these compounds,genes associated with NO production pathways have been *** this study,we employ a nitric oxide synthase(NOS)-guided genome mining strategy for the targeted discovery of NO-derived bacterial natural products and NO-utilizing *** show that a conserved NOS-containing BGC,distributed across several actinobacterial genomes,is responsible for the biosynthesis of lajollamycin,a unique nitro-tetraene-containing antibiotic whose biosynthetic mechanism remains *** a combination of in vivo and in vitro studies,we unveil the first cytochrome P450 enzyme capable of catalyzing olefin nitration in natural product *** results not only expand the current knowledge about biosynthetic nitration processes but also offer an efficient way for targeted identification of NO-utilizing metabolic pathways and novel nitrating biocatalysts.

Clay-type Li deposits are poised to play a pivotal role in addressing the surging global demand for *** McDermitt clay-type Li deposit,located in Nevada,is the largest Li deposit in the United States,with Li hosted by a clay-rich sequence of smectite-dominated intervals and illite-dominated intervals,***,the occurrence of Li and the genesis of Li-bearing minerals within smectite-dominated intervals have not been thoroughly investigated in previous ***,we studied the mineralogy,the in-situ Li distribution,and the bonding environments of Li within the smectite intervals using a combination of instru-mental techniques including scanning electron microscope,transmission electron microscope,time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry,and nuclear magnetic *** results indicate that the smectite exhibits low crystallinity characteristics of lacustrine clay authigenesis and is com-monly found tofill the interstices among volcanic minerals or envelop them;Li is mainly hosted by Mg-smectite rather than the volcanic *** the tuffaceous sediment samples,the volcanic glass has undergone a transformation,resulting in its complete disappearance and alteration into clay *** to the octahedral sites of Mg-smectite bounded in Li,it is referred to be *** interpret that the hectorite’s precipitation occurs in a high saline-alkaline water environment,a result of McDermitt *** conclusion can be supported by the coexistence of spherulitic calcite and ***,this study confirms hectorite as the main Li-bearing mineral and increases the understanding of the genetic model of hectorite formation in intracontinental caldera basins.
