Hetero-structures made from vertically stacked monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides hold great potential for optoelectronic and thermoelectric *** of the optimal layered material for specific applications necessitates the estimation of key material properties,such as electronic band structure and thermal transport ***,screening of material properties via brute force ab initio calculations of the entire material structure space exceeds the limits of current computing ***,the functional dependence of material properties on the structures is often complicated,making simplistic statistical procedures for prediction difficult to employ without large amounts of data ***,we present a Gaussian process regression model,which predicts material properties of an input hetero-structure,as well as an active learning model based on Bayesian optimization,which can efficiently discover the optimal hetero-structure using a minimal number of ab initio *** electronic band gap,conduction/valence band dispersions,and thermoelectric performance are used as representative material properties for prediction and *** Materials Project platform is used for electronic structure computation,while the BoltzTraP code is used to compute thermoelectric *** optimization is shown to significantly reduce the computational cost of discovering the optimal structure when compared with finding an optimal structure by building a regression model to predict material *** models can be used for predictions with respect to any material property and our software,including data preparation code based on the Python Materials Genomics(PyMatGen)library as well as python-based machine learning code,is available open source.

本论文对《文化中文》和《桥梁:实用汉语中级教程》(以下简称《桥梁》)进行了对比分析。前者是汉语作为外语的中级综合教材,后者是汉语作为第二语言的中级综合教程。近年来,学者们认为在汉语做外语和汉语作为第二语言的教材中,应当把语言与文化内容相结合。《文化中文》与《桥梁》这两套教材都体现了上述趋势。但是,两者却以不同的方式将语言和文化相结合。《文化中文》的对象是把汉语作为外语来学习的在美国的学生。《文化中文》以不同的文化项目构成一系列的话题而每一单元的话题是以文化为中心的。它所选择的话题都属于中国文化遗产的范畴,以学生容易接受的方式介绍中国某些重要的文化特色。相比之下,《桥梁》则采用不同的方式介绍中国文化。《桥梁》针对的教学对象是在中国的外国留学生。这套教材的很多课文选自中国文学作品,当然课文编撰者对所选的内容进行了删改取舍。其中有些课文的原作者在中国文学历史上就有很重要的地位。本论文对这两套教材中的某些课文与课后练习进行对比分析,笔者希望通过这些对比来说明这两套教材是如何将语言和文化结合起来的。本论文对这两套教材在把语言和文化结合起来的优点与不足分别进行了对比分析。本论文的第二章讨论了每套教材的优点,而在第三章里则讨论各自的不足之处。在第四章,笔者对将来的教材编写者提出了一些建议,主张他们编写的教材不仅能够帮助中级汉语水平学习者更好地学习语言,也期望他们所选择的教材能帮助语言学习者掌握更多的文化知识。

背景:Nivolumab和pembrolizumab是两种PD-1受体阻断性单克隆抗体,已成功用于多种晚期恶性肿瘤的治疗。抗PD-1治疗诱发的肝脏毒性的组织学变化尚未被深入研究,因此,本研究旨在评估这一组织学模式。方法:回顾性分析来自5个医疗中心(佛罗里达大学医学院、芝加哥大学Pritzker医学院、Loyola大学医学中心、耶鲁大学医学院、杜克大学医学中心)的8例接受Nivolumab或pembrolizumab治疗的晚期恶性肿瘤患者。这些患者既往均无肝病史,病毒性肝炎检测均为阴性。结果:抗PD-1治疗后,8例患者中有7例出现轻中度的胃肠道症状,如腹痛、疲乏、恶心、呕吐及黄疸。所有患者肝脏化学检测指标均显著升高。6例患者的肝损伤表现为急性小叶性肝炎,另外2例不同的损伤模式分别为脂肪性肝炎合并轻度胆汁淤积和急性胆汁淤积性损伤。无一例出现自身免疫性肝炎的典型特征。所有患者在中止抗PD-1治疗并予以免疫抑制治疗后,肝功能均恢复正常。结论:本研究结果显示,在抗PD-1治疗前对肝功能异常者进行筛选并在治疗期间定期监测肝功能指标,有助于预防严重肝损伤的发生。PD-1抑制剂并不会导致自身免疫性肝炎,而仅仅是引起免疫介导的急性非特异性肝炎。对于部分肝损伤患者,只要中止抗PD-1治疗即可,不必采用类固醇治疗。

Obesity Appears to Impact Male Fertility by Degrading Overall Semen Quality Rather than Individual Semen Parameters

Obesity has become a well-recognized medical issue. However its exact role in male infertility remains unclear. The objective of the current study was to determine if an increase inBMIis associated with an increase in semen parameter abnormalities and if this relationship was influenced by other patient activities. Charts were reviewed for one hundred and thirty-three male patients who had also undergone a complete initial office face to face interview, as part of an infertility evaluation and a semen analysis. As part of standard patient care, all patients answered a detailed questionnaire regarding demographics, exposures, medical and reproductive history as part of their infertility evaluation. Patients were grouped according toBMIas normal (20 - 24 kg/m2), overweight (25 - 30 kg/m2), or obese (>30 kg/m2). Semen analysis parameters analyzed included: morphology, volume, concentration, percent motility, and agglutination. While some parameters suggested trends, results were similar between the normal, overweight, and obeseBMI, for concentration (P= 0.18), volume (P = 0.845), motility (P = 0.06);% Positive agglutination: 12%, 7%, 7%?(P = 0.668) and % normal morphology (P = 0.083). Unlike a number of previous studies, results indicate that there is no statistically significant association betweenBMIand any of the individual semen parameters tested. Raw data suggested a trend for decreasing concentration with increasingBMI. Further, data also suggested equal numbers of oligospermics in each group. However, when the data looked at globally rather than on the effects on individually parameters (total number of normal motile sperm cells—NMS), functional sperm cells decreased with increasing BMI. None of these factors appeared to be affected by other patient factors. The consensus view among geologists is that the Lanzhou Basin sequence of sedimentscontains the Oligocene/Miocene boundary, but where this occurs is unknown. Indeed, this is thecrux of the issues concerning mid-Tertiary paleontology in Asia: what fauna corresponds with thistime? What turnover events or distinctive taxa signal the beginning of the Miocene epoch? Onceknown, this will be of broad usefulness because vertebrate-bearing deposits are widespread in Asiaand can be used to date basin sediments. Lanzhou and other basins permit a means of correlating tothe time scale by using fauna and paleomagnetic data locally, and ultimately radiometric data fromdistant localities, to develop a precise biochronology. Herein, we summarize faunal constraints,primarily those of small mammal taxa, on correlation of the Lanzhou magnetozone sequence to themagnetic time scale. We conclude that the lower part of the Xianshuihe Formation contains theOligocene/Miocene boundary, and that the top of the formation, both in the south and north partsof the basin, is middle Miocene in age. Rodents from lower white sand units of the XianshuiheFormation, correlate to the Xiejia assemblage of the Xining Basin, Qinghai Province, and are early,but not earliest, Miocene age. The implication for rodent faunas of the epoch boundary is that theyretained a mainly "Oligocene" composition, and that other presumed late Oligocene assemblagesmay be, in fact, early Miocene in age. The Lanzhou appearance of Proboscidea is 19-18 Ma, asexpected.

BACKGROUND Accurate detection of gastric antral vascular ectasia(GAVE)is critical for proper management of cirrhosis-related gastrointestinal ***,endoscopic diagnosis of GAVE can be challenging when GAVE overlaps with severe portal hypertensive gastropathy(PHG).AIM To determine the added diagnostic value of virtual chromoendoscopy to high definition white light for real-time endoscopic diagnosis of GAVE and *** We developed an I-scan virtual chromoendoscopy criteria for diagnosis of GAVE and *** tested our criteria in a cross-sectional cohort of cirrhotic adults with GAVE and PHG when high-definition white light endoscopy(HDWLE)diagnosis was in *** then compared the accuracy of I-scan vs HDWLE alone to *** Twenty-three patients were included in this study(65.2%Caucasians and 60.9%males).Chronic hepatitis C was the predominant cause of cirrhosis(43.5%)and seven adults(30.4%)had confirmed GAVE on histology.I-scan had higher sensitivity(100%vs 85.7%)and specificity(75%vs 62.5%)in diagnosing GAVE compared to *** translates into a higher,albeit not statistically significant,accuracy of I-scan in detecting GAVE compared to HDWLE alone(82%vs 70%).I-scan was less likely to lead to an accurate diagnosis of GAVE in patients on dialysis(P<0.05)and in patients with elevated creatinine(P<0.05).Iscan had similar accuracy to HDWLE in detecting *** This pilot work supports that virtual chromoendoscopy may obviate the need for biopsies when the presence of GAVE is in *** studies are needed to assess the impact of virtual chromoendoscopy on success of endoscopic therapy for GAVE.

The penetration of wind power into global electric power systems is steadily increasing, with the possibility of 30% to 80% of electrical energy coming from wind within the coming decades. At penetrations below 10% of electricity from wind, the impact of this variable resource on power system operations is manageable with historical operating strategies. As this penetration increases, new methods for operating the power system and electricity markets need to be developed. As part of this process, the expected impact of increased wind penetration needs to be better understood and quantified. This paper presents a comprehensive modeling framework, combining optimal power flow with Monte Carlo simulations used to quantify the impact of high levels of wind power generation in the power system. The impact on power system performance is analyzed in terms of generator dispatch patterns, electricity price and its standard deviation, CO2 emissions and amount of wind power spilled. Simulations with 10%, 20% and 30% wind penetration are analyzed for the IEEE 39 bus test system, with input data representing the New England region. Results show that wind power predominantly displaces natural gas fired generation across all scenarios. The inclusion of increasing amounts of wind can result in price spike events, as the system is required to dispatch down expensive demand in order to maintain the energy balance. These events are shown to be mitigated by the inclusion of demand response resources. Benefits include significant reductions in CO2 emissions, up to 75% reductions at 30% wind penetration, as compared to emissions with no wind integration.
