We tested small mammal(SM)community response to the influence of seasonal floods and habitat transformation in a temporal zone meadow(west Lithuania).The habitat transitioned from a natural flooded meadow in 2008–2012 to a mowed and pastured area in *** were trapped in late summer to autumn using lines of 25 traps(145 in total),the number of trapping sessions being one or several per *** tested the hypotheses that:(1)any reaction to the multiple disturbances is species-specific,that is,the relative abundance of SM species and their proportion in the community differs with respect to the flood magnitude and habitat transformation,and(2)at the guild level,disturbances favor habitat generalists,thereby changing the characteristics of SM *** average relative density of SM was 20.25 individuals per 100 trap nights(range 7.56–40.67),with 4-year-long cyclical changes of density *** separate years,we recorded from 4 to 9 species;Shannon’s diversity index varied from 0.46 to 2.19,with expressed change of the dominant *** generalist species were favored,while habitat specialists were *** the meadow transformation progressed,unfavored states in the SM community prevailed,with excessive numbers of granivore and herbivore species *** study suggests that multiple disturbances may lead to an increase in relative abundance,species richness,and diversity within the SM assemblages.

Background： With farmland afforestation becoming common policy in many European Union countries, we studied how early forest succession（from meadow to young stand） influences small mammal species composition, diversity,abundance and biomass. Despite numerous investigations into forest succession, almost no attention has been given to the small mammal community change in the early-successional forest ecosystems, starting with the pre-forest habitat and ending with stand formation and the establishment of tree dominance. We compared small mammal communities in meadows at the initial stage of regrowth（with saplings less than 10 cm in height）, in young forest（5–10 years old） and more advanced forest（15–20 years） in both cases of human-induced forest succession, where the trees had been planted, and natural forest succession, where natural regrowth of meadows had ***： The greatest diversity of small mammal species was recorded in the meadow（H = 2.95）, with a lower diversity found in the young forest（H = 2.61） and even lower in the advanced forest（H = 2.04）, the last habitat being the most monodominantic. The order of species dominance from Microtus sp.（M. arvalis, M. agrestis）, Myodes glareolus, Apodemus flavicollis, Sorex araneus, A. agrarius in the meadow changed to M. glareolus, S. araneus, M. arvalis,M. agrestis in the young forest and to M. glareolus, A. flavicollis, S. araneus in the advanced forest. The lowest relative abundance of small mammals was recorded in the meadow（18.19 ± 2.27 ind. Per 100 trap-days）, with Microtus voles being the most abundant. Relative abundance was higher in the young forest（22.72 ± 2.25 ind. Per 100 trap-days）,with Myodes glareolus being the most abundant（7.59 ± 0.96 ind. Per 100 trap-days） and at its highest in the advanced forest（23.91 ± 2.77 ind. Per 100 trap-days）, again with M. glareolus being the most abundant（15.54 ± 2.35 ind. In theory, sustainable forest management (SFM) puts public participation at the epicenter of the decision-making process. However, in reality, the situation is different. The growing importance of public participation seems essential for the implementation of sustainable forest management. The aim of this study is to assess the implementation of a theoretical concept closely related to SFM, integrated land and resource management (ILRM). This Canadian concept aims to integrate many forest functions using participatory tools. Using semi-structured interviews with experts, we clarify our theoretical concept and adapt it to reality. Our results show that better communication between stakeholders is necessary. It is also important to increase the flexibility of the timber harvest system and adapted forest zoning should be considered. A new concept, the forest culture, seems to be a key element that needs to be considered upstream of forest management. A new definition of ILRM is proposed in order to better reach social values.

Disease-specific health-related quality of life and its determinants in liver cirrhosis patients in Lithuania

AIM: To evaluate disease-specific quality of life (QOL) in liver cirrhosis patients and to compare it with those of a healthy population. Also an important objective was to assess whether QOL in liver cirrhosis patients differs by age and gender, by type and severity of disease. METHODS: The case group of 131 liver cirrhosis patients was selected. The control group of 262 was enrolled from a healthy population according to the scheme of case-control study. Clinical, demographic, laboratory data were collected. QOL was measured with a specific chronic liver disease questionnaire (CLDQ), which was translated and validated in Lithuanian. QOL scores were compared between groups by age, gender, type and severity of disease. Cronbach’s alpha statistics calculation was used for evaluation of internal consistency reliability. Student’s t test or ANOVA were used for evaluation hypothesis about probability equation. RESULTS: QOL was significantly lower in liver cirrhosis patients than in healthy population (59.5 ± 18.3 vs 85.3 ± 12.3, P < 0.001). The significant QOL differences between case and control groups were observed in domains of worry and abdominal symptoms, the smaller differences-in emotional functions and systematic symptom domains. Significantly worse QOL was in observed patients with increased clinical severity of the disease measured by Child-Pugh class. Age, gender and etiology of disease had an insignificant effect on QOL in cirrhotic patients. CONCLUSION: QOL was significantly impaired in all CLDQ domains in liver cirrhosis patients. Increase in severity of disease was the major factor associated with poorer QOL.

Structured light–electromagnetic waves with a strong spatial inhomogeneity of amplitude,phase,and polarization–has occupied far-reaching positions in both optical research and ***(THz)waves,due to recent innovations in photonics and nanotechnology,became so robust that it was not only implemented in a wide variety of applications such as communications,spectroscopic analysis,and non-destructive imaging,but also served as a low-cost and easily implementable experimental platform for novel concept *** this work,we show that structured nonparaxial THz light in the form of Airy,Bessel,and Gaussian beams can be generated in a compact way using exclusively silicon diffractive optics prepared by femtosecond laser ablation *** accelerating nature of the generated structured light is demonstrated via THz imaging of objects partially obscured by an opaque beam *** conventional paraxial approaches,when a combination of a lens and a cubic phase(or amplitude)mask creates a nondiffracting Airy beam,we demonstrate simultaneous lensless nonparaxial THz Airy beam generation and its application in imaging *** of single objects,imaging with a controllable placed obstacle,and imaging of stacked graphene layers are presented,revealing hence potential of the approach to inspect quality of 2D *** nonparaxial THz illumination is investigated both theoretically and experimentally with appropriate extensive *** structured THz illumination consistently outperforms the conventional one in resolution and contrast,thus opening new frontiers of structured light applications in imaging and inverse scattering problems,as it enables sophisticated estimates of optical properties of the investigated structures.

在过去的几十年间,中国的乳制品产业正在飞速发展,逐渐成为了中国经济的支柱性产业之一。但是,乳制品产业仍存在着一些问题,如供给-需求不平衡、科技创新能力缺失、安全监管不严格等,导致中国现在仍是乳制品进口大国。目前,中国的乳制品进口来源较为单一,其乳制品的主要进口来源为新西兰。随着改革开放的进一步深入,中国已经开始与欧盟、澳大利亚、东盟等国家和地区展开或者签订了自由贸易协定。自由贸易协定的签订和自由贸易区的建立,将对中国的进出口贸易产生巨大的影响,特别是对于乳制品进口,将有可能改变中国的乳制品产业结构。因此,本文综合分析了中欧之间的贸易现状和发展趋势,并结合中国的乳制品产业发展现状和乳制品贸易现状,通过建立引力模型,研究中欧进口税减低对中国乳制品进口贸易的影响,最后对中欧贸易区的发展趋势和中国的应对策略进行了分析和建议。本文主要得到如下结论:1)虽然中国的乳制品产业保持快速而又稳定的增长,且具有非常大的发展潜力,中国的乳制品产品的附加价值不断上升,而且中国乳制品在国内市场还存在供给与需求不平衡的现象、科技创新能力缺失、安全监管不严格等问题。同事,欧盟能够提供质量保证,价格合理的乳制品。因此,欧盟对中国乳制品出口进一步增长存在有利的条件。2)过去二十年中欧乳制品贸易分析表明,欧盟对中国乳制品出口有利条件的外在的和内在的原因是这些:欧盟牛奶配额限制取消;欧盟市场牛奶价格不稳定的问题;俄罗斯食品禁运;中国人生活质量提高,牛奶消费模式有很大的变化;中国乳制品进口的条件有利;三聚氰胺事件与其他牛奶质量问题;欧盟品牌在中国的影响。3)中国的乳制品进口贸易存在贸易顺差巨大、进口来源集中、贸易依存度逐渐增加等现状。欧盟对中国乳制品出口增长的潜力很大。不过,在未来竞争仍将存在因为:别的国家,比如说新西兰,美国乳制品非常有竞争力;有快速增长的乳制品市场,比如说印度;中国乳制品质量也不断改进。同事,欧盟牛奶大部分是自给自足的,它的乳制品进口关税很高。因此,中国对欧盟乳制品出口增长的潜力不大。4)通过建立中欧乳制品贸易引力模型,发现:贸易双方国家的GDP与中国乳制品进口贸易量存在显著的正相关;中国人口数量与中国乳制品进口贸易量存在显著的正相关,而欧盟乳制品贸易伙伴国的人口数量与中国的乳制品进口不存在显著的相关性;贸易双方的距离因素对中国乳制品进口贸易不存在明显的相关性;中国的进口关税税率与乳制品进口贸易量之间存在显著的负相关;人民币-欧元之间的汇率与中国乳制品进口贸易量存在显著的负相关性。5)中国对欧盟乳制品进口关税税率的降低分析表明,如果中国队欧盟乳制品进口关税税率降低,还是两个国家签订自由贸易区协议,中国对欧盟乳制品进口额将大幅增加。6)针对上述结论,中国的应对策略包括:(1)审慎对待各种不利影响,正确应对各种问题;(2)进一步加快贸易自由化,加强国内经济建设;(3)密切关注欧元汇率在未来的走势并充分利用金融创新工具,以规避欧元兑人民币汇率波动所带来的风险。中国应该结合自身的经济发展状况,进一步加快贸易自由化的改革进程,尽快与欧盟达成自由贸易协定。如果中国与欧盟建立自由贸易区,将必然会促进中国从欧盟进口乳制品,这一方面会使中国居民能够享受到更多更加优质的乳制品产品,另一方面也将对中国的乳制品产业产生巨大的冲击。未来中国需要对本国乳制品相关企业的发展足够重视。

Leiomyoma of the umbilical cord artery: A case report

A leiomyoma is a benign tumor originating from non-striated muscle that is typically found in the uterus. Intravenous leiomyomatosis is a rare form found within the veins, usually associated with uterine fbroids, and tends to recur. These masses can spread from the uter-us throughout the venous system. A rare case involving a subendothelial leiomyoma found in an umbilical cord artery is presented in this article. A 21-year-old patient presented with symptoms of preterm labor, which re-sulted in the premature birth of a female below the 10th percentile for 24-wk gestational age. The newborn died three days later, and microscopic analysis of the um-bilical cord revealed occlusion of the artery by nodular structures. The antepartum diagnosis of intravascular leiomyoma was identified by immunohistochemistry showing that approximately 70% of all tumor cells were diffusely positive for smooth muscle markers, includ-ing desmin and smooth muscle actin. These findings indicate the possibility of a pathologic association be-tween the umbilical cord leiomyoma, restriction of fetal growth and preterm delivery due to impaired circulation of blood in the umbilical cord.
