Alkenols are important intermediates for the industrial manufacture of various commodities and fine *** present,alkenols are produced via thermocatalytic semihydrogenation of corresponding alkynols using precious metal Pd-based catalysts in pressurized hydrogen *** this work,we highlight an efficient electrocatalytic strategy for selectively reducing alkynols to alkenols under ambient *** 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol as a model alkynol,Cu3P nanoarrays anchored on Cu foam remarkably deliver an industrial-level partial current density of 0.79 A·cm^(-2) and a specific selectivity of 98%for 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol in acidic *** a 40-runs stability test,Cu3P nanoarrays maintain 90%alkynol conversion and 90%alkenol *** in a large two-electrode flow electrolyser,the single-pass alkynol conversion and alkenol selectivity of Cu3P nanoarrays exceed 90%.Moreover,this selective electrocatalytic hydrogenation approach is broadly feasible for the production of various water-soluble *** analyses,theoretical simulation and electrochemical in-situ infrared investigations together reveal that exothermic alkynol hydrogenation,facile alkenol desorption and formation of active H on Cu3P surfaces account for the excellent electrocatalytic performance.

Efficacy of epalrestat plus α-lipoic acid combination therapy versus monotherapy in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy: a meta-analysis of 20 randomized controlled trials

OBJECTIVE： To evaluate the efficacy of α-lipoic acid（ALA） plus epalrestat combination therapy in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy（DPN）. DATA SOURCES： The electronic databases of Pub Med, Medline, Embase, the Cochrane Library, the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, the Wanfang Database and the Chinese Biomedical Database were used to retrieve relevant studies without language restrictions. The search was conducted from the inception of each database to 7 October 2016. The key terms were（diabetic peripheral neuropathy or diabetic neuropathy or DPN） AND（α-lipoic acid or lipoic acid or thioctic acid） AND epalrestat. DATA SELECTION： All of the eligible studies met the following inclusion criteria：（1） Randomized controlled trials that compared efficacy and safety of epalrestat plus ALA combination therapy versus epalrestat or ALA monotherapy in patients with DPN.（2） The minimum duration of treatment was 2 weeks.（3） The DPN patients were diagnosed using the World Health Organization standardized type 2 diabetes mellitus and DPN criteria.（4） Studies contained at least one measure that could reflect the efficacy of the drug and nerve conduction velocities. Studies in which the control group used epalrestat or ALA combined with other drugs were excluded. Statistical analyses were performed using STATA software for meta-analysis. OUTCOME MEASURES： The primary outcomes were the therapeutic efficacy, median motor nerve conduction velocity（MNCV）, median sensory nerve conduction velocity（SNCV）, peroneal MNCV and peroneal ***： Twenty studies with 1894 DPN patients were included, including 864 patients in the ALA plus epalrestat group, 473 in the ALA group and 557 in the epalrestat group. The efficacy of ALA plus epalrestat combination therapy was superior to ALA and epalrestat monotherapies（RR = 1.29, 95% CI： 1.21–1.38; RR = 1.43, 95% CI： 1.34–1.54, respectively）. Comparison of the effect and safety of Kuntai capsule and hormone replacement therapy in patients with perimenopausal syndrome:a systematic review and Meta-analysis

OBJECTIVE: To assess the effectiveness and safety of Kuntai capsule and hormone replacement therapy in treatment of perimenopausal ***: Articles were retrieved from the databases Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews,Pub Med, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technology Journal Database, and Wanfang Database. Only randomized controlled trials were included; 15 trials involving1243 patients were identified from January 2005 to April 2015. A systemic review and Meta-analysis of publications was performed. The review was limit-ed to randomized controlled trials that compared Kuntai capsule and hormone replacement therapy to treat perimenopausal syndrome for at least 3months. The primary outcome assessed was the treatment efficacy at 3 months, including effective rate of Kupperman menopausal scores, Kupperman menopausal scores, and blood estradiol(E2) or blood follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) *** outcomes assessed were safety or adverse events, such as gastrointestinal complaints, breast distending pain, or vaginal ***: Kupperman menopausal scores showed no significant difference in effective rate [odds ratio(OR): 1.05, 95% confidence intervals(CI): 0.71 to1.55] and changes in FSH level [mean difference(MD): 2.14, 95% CI:-2.36 to 6.65]. There was a significant statistical difference in Kupperman menopausal scores(MD:-1.14, 95% CI:-2.03 to-0.25)and changes in E2level(MD:-16.41, 95% CI:-18.83to-13.69). There were fewer adverse events in the Kuntai capsule group than in the hormone replacement therapy group(OR: = 0.35, 95% CI: 0.25 to0.48, P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Compared with hormone replacement therapy, Kuntai capsule can improve perimenopausal symptoms and blood E2 levels, and reduce the incidence of adverse events.

Settling behavior of spherical particles in eccentric annulus filled with viscous inelastic fluid

Synthesis of new 2-aryl-6-styryl-2,3-dihydropyridin-4(1H)-one derivatives from curcuminoids

Series of new 2-aryl-6-styry1-2,3-dihydropyridin-4（1H）-one derivatives were synthesized in acceptable to good yields by treatment of the curcuminoids with aqueous ammonia, the mechanism was proposed. By modification of the primary products, total 13 new compounds were obtained. The structures of all products were elucidated by spectroscopy analysis including HR-MS, 1H NMR and ^13C NMR.

Soil mulching can mitigate soil water defi ciency impacts on rainfed maize production in semiarid environments

Temporally irregular rainfall distribution and inefficient rainwater management create severe constraints on crop production in rainfed semiarid areas. Gravel and plastic film mulching are effective methods for improving agricultural productivity and water utilization. However, the effects of these mulching practices on soil water supply and plant water use associated with crop yield are not well understood. A 3-yr study was conducted to analyze the occurrence and distribution of dry spells in a semiarid region of Northwest China and to evaluate the effects of non-mulching （CK）, gravel mulching （GM） and plastic film mulching （FM） on the soil water supply, plant water use and maize （Zea mays L.） grain yield. Rainfall analysis showed that dry spells of ≥5 days occurred frequently in each of 3 yr, accounting for 59.9-69.2% of the maize growing periods. The 〉15-d dry spells during the jointing stage would expose maize plants to particularly severe water stress. Compared with the CK treatment, both the GM and FM treatments markedly increased soil water storage during the early growing season. In general, the total evapotranspiration （ET） was not significantly different among the three treatments, but the mulched treatments significantly increased the ratio of pre- to post-silking ET, which was closely associated with yield improvement. As a result, the grain yield significantly increased by 17.1, 70.3 and 16.7% for the GM treatment and by 28.3, 87.6 and 38.2% for the FM treatment in 2010, 2011 and 2012, respectively, compared with the CK treatment. It＇s concluded that both GM and FM are effective strategies for mitigating the impacts of water deficit and improving maize production in semiarid areas. However. FM is more effective than GM.

Regulation of FN1 degradation by the p62/SQSTM1-dependent autophagy-lysosome pathway in HNSCC

Epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT)is involved in both physiological and pathological *** plays an essential role in the invasion,migration and metastasis of *** has been shown to regulate EMT in a variety of cancers but not in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC).Herein,we investigated whether autophagy also regulates EMT in *** of clinical data from three public databases revealed that higher expression of fibronectin-1(FN1)correlated with poorer prognosis and higher tumour pathological grade in *** from SCC-25 cells demonstrated that rapamycin and Earle’s balanced salt solution(EBSS)promoted autophagy,leading to increased FN1 degradation,while 3-methyladenine(3-MA),bafilomycin A1(Baf A1)and chloroquine(CQ)inhibited autophagy,leading to decreased FN1 *** the other hand,autophagic flux was blocked in BECN1 mutant HNSCC Cal-27 cells,and rapamycin did not promote autophagy in Cal-27 cells;also in addition,FN1 degradation was ***,we identified FN1 degradation through the lysosome-dependent degradation pathway using the proteasome inhibitor *** from immunoprecipitation assays also showed that p62/SQSTM1 participated as an autophagy adapter in the autophagy–lysosome pathway of FN1 ***,data from immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that the interaction between p62 and FN1 was abolished in p62 mutant MCF-7 and A2780 cell *** results indicate that autophagy significantly promotes the degradation of ***,our findings clearly suggest that FN1,as a marker of EMT,has adverse effects on HNSCC and elucidate the autophagy–lysosome degradation mechanism of FN1.
