The most robust design for digital logics of multiple variables based on neurons with complex-valued weights

Neurons with complex-valued weights have stronger capability because of their multi-valued threshold logic. Neurons with such features may be suitable for solution of different kinds of problems including associative memory,image recognition and digital logical mapping. In this paper,robustness or tolerance is introduced and newly defined for this kind of neuron ac-cording to both their mathematical model and the perceptron neuron's definition of robustness. Also,the most robust design for basic digital logics of multiple variables is proposed based on these robust neurons. Our proof procedure shows that,in robust design each weight only takes the value of i or -i,while the value of threshold is with respect to the number of variables. The results demonstrate the validity and simplicity of using robust neurons for realizing arbitrary digital logical functions.

The problems existing in the binary logic system and the advantages of multiple-valued logic (MVL) are introduced. A literal circuit with three-track-output structure is created based on resonant tunneling diodes (RTDs) and it has the most basic memory function. A ternary RTD D flip-flop with pre-set and pre-reset functions is also designed, the key module of which is the RTD literal circuit. Two types of output structure of the ternary RTD D flip-flop are optional: one is three-track and the other is single-track; these two structures can be transformed conveniently by merely adding tri-valued RTD NAND, NOR, and inverter units after the three-track output. The design is verified by simulation. Ternary flip-flop consists of an RTD literal circuit and it not only is easy to understand and implement but also provides a solution for the algebraic interface between the multiple-valued logic and the binary logic. The method can also be used for design of other types of multiple-valued RTD flip-flop circuits.

Rare earth（RE） metals and their alloys have attracted considerable practical interests due to their functional properties. Because of their negative deposition potentials, RE metals cannot be electrochemically deposited from aqueous media. Using molten salt as medium provides a unique opportunity for the electrowinning and electrorefining of high-purity RE metals, as well as for the electrochemical formation of their alloys and intermetallic compounds. Certainly, the electrochemical behaviors of RE metals and their alloys have been investigated in a number of different molten salts comprising all-fiuorides,all-chlorides and mixed chloride-fiuoride media. Based on the results, RE and their alloys were produced by molten salt electrolysis. In this paper, the developments of preparation of RE metals and their alloys by electrolysis in molten salts in recent years were systematically summarized on both the local and international levels. Attention was paid mainly to the electrodeposition of RE metals and their alloys, including RE-Mg, RE-Al, RE-Ni, RE-Co,RE-Cu, RE-Fe and RE-Zn alloys.

Preparation and characterization of LiAl_xMn_(2-x)O_4 for a supercapacitor in aqueous electrolyte

LiAlxMn2-xO4 （0≤x≤0.5） was synthesized by high temperature solid-state reaction. The structure and morphology of LiAlxMn2-xO4 were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. The results indicate that all samples show spinel phase. The polyhedral particles turn to club-shaped, then change to small spherical, and finally become agglomerates with increasing Al content. The supercapacitive performances of LiAlxMn2-xO4 were studied by means of galvanostatic charge-discharge, cyclic voltammetry, and alternating current （AC） impedance in 2 mol·L^-1 （NH4）2SO4 aqueous solution. The results show that LiAlxMn2-xO4 represents rectangular shape performance in the potential range of 0-1 V. The capacity and cycle performance can be improved by doping Al. The composition of x=0.1 has the maximum special capacitance of 160 F·g^-1, which is 1.37 times that of LiMn2O4 electrode. The capacitance loss of LiAlxMn2-xO4 with x=0.1 is only about 14% after 100 cycles.

Hexagonal-plate BaFe12O19 nano-particles were prepared by combining the co-precipitation and molten-salt method. The effects of molten-salt NaCl on the products have been compared with those of KCl. The X-ray diffraction analysis, the environment scanning electron microscopy and the vibrating sample magnetometer were used to measure their characteristics. The results show that the mol- ten-salt KCl is helpful to obtain pure phase while the molten-salt NaCl will prompt the crystallinity of particles to increase. It is also found that, given the molten-salt of NaCl and that of KCl of the same quantity, the particles formed are also the same size. The size of particles slightly increases as the quantity of the salt increases. Moreover, the sample prepared under 200% NaCl salt system has magnetization of 71.5 emu/g.

Thin Ru_(21)Zr_(64)Si_(15) films deposited on Si substrates by radio frequency reactive magnetron sputtering are studied and evaluated as diffusion barriers for Cu ***/Ru_(21)Zr_(64)Si_(15)/Si and Cu/Zr_(67)Si_(33)/Si structure samples are prepared under the same procedures for *** thermal stability,phase formation,surface morphology and atomic depth profile of the Cu/Ru_(21)Zr_(64)Si_(15)/Si and Cu/Zr_(67)Si_(33)/Si structures before and after annealing at different temperatures are *** conjunction with these analyses,the Cu/Ru_(21)Zr_(64)Si_(15)/Si contact system shows high thermal stability at least up to 650℃.The results obtained reveal that the incorporation of Ru atoms into the Zr_(67)Si_(33) barrier layer is shown to be beneficial for improving the thermal stability of the Cu/barrier/Si contact system.

An Al-coated Mg-8 mass% Li alloy rectangular bar was fabricated by hot extrusion, and then, it was hot-rolled into a thin sheet. The Al coating was uniform in thickness and had good bonding with the substrate during all the processing. This Alcoated Mg–Li alloy exhibited a good corrosion resistance in a 0.5 mass% HCl aqueous solution. No intermetallic compound was observed at the Al/Mg–Li interface after the extrusion and the rolling. The Al-coated Mg–Li alloy sheet exhibited an elongation to fracture of 35% at room temperature at a strain rate of 0.001 s(-1)without any debonding between the coating and the substrate. When tensile tested at 573 K at 0.001 s(-1)in the air, the Al coating remained undamaged even until an elongation of about 150%. Further elongation generated cracks on the coating and the specimen fractured at an elongation of about 200%. In an Ar atmosphere, the specimen exhibited a fracture elongation of over 400% under the same conditions at 573 K at 0.001 s(-1), although a large number of cracks generated on the Al coating.

AIM: To investigate the biological function of 14-3-3σ protein and to look for proteins that interact with 14-3-3σ protein in colon cancer stem cells. METHODS: Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was performed to amplify the 14-3-3σ gene from the mRNA of colon cancer stem cells. The gene was then cloned into the pGEM-T vector. After being sequenced, the target gene 14-3-3σ was cut from the pGEM-T vector and cloned into the pGBKT7 yeast expression plasmid. Then, the bait plasmid pGBKT7-14-3-3σ was transformed into the yeast strain AH109. After the expression of the pGBKT7-14-3-3σ fusion protein in the AH109 yeast strain was accomplished, a yeast two-hybrid screening assay was performed by mating AH109 with Y187 that contained a HeLa cDNA library plasmid. The interaction between the 14-3-3σ protein and the proteins obtained from positive colonies was further confirmed by repeating the yeast two-hybridscreen. After extracting and sequencing the plasmids from the positive colonies, we performed a bioinformatics analysis. A coimmunoprecipitation assay was performed to confirm the interaction between 14-3-3σ and the proteins obtained from the positive colonies. Finally, we constructed 14-3-3σ and potassium channel modulatory factor 1 (KCMF1) siRNA expression plasmids and transfected them into colon cancer stem cells. RESULTS: The bait plasmid pGBKT7-14-3-3σ was constructed successfully, and the 14-3-3σ protein had no toxic or autonomous activation effect on the yeast. Nineteen true-positive colonies were selected and sequenced, and their full-length sequences were obtained. We searched for homologous DNA sequences for these sequences from GenBank. Among the positive colonies, four coding genes with known functions were obtained, including KCMF1 , quinone oxidore-ductase (NQO2 ), hydroxyisobutyrate dehydrogenase (HIBADH ) and 14-3-3σ . For the subsequent coimmu-noprecipitation assay, the plasmids PCDEF-Flag-14-3-3σ, PCDEF-Myc-KCMF1, PCDEF-Myc-NQO2 and PCDEF-Myc

A narrowband tunable antireflection optical filter is proposed and numerically studied. The structure is a metasurface based on plasmonic nanoparticles on an electro-optic film in a three-layer configuration of metaldielectric-metal(MDM) in the visible near-infrared range. By tuning the voltage and thus tuning the refractive index of the dielectric Li Nb O_3, one can shift the wavelength of minimum reflection as desired. The parameters of gold nanoparticles and other elements used for the filter design and refractive index of the dielectric are obtained by the finite-element method(FEM). An analytical theory is presented to explain the FEM simulation results, and they agree well with each other. It is found that the frequency of the plasmonic resonance wave on the metasurface should be equal to that of the Fabry–Perot resonator formed by the MDM to have a good filtering property. Theoretical spectra obtained by FEM simulation show that the structure has extensive potential for the design of tunable narrow-band filters for modulators, displayers, and color extraction for imaging.
