Injury severity analysis of electric bike crashes in Changsha, hunan Province: taking different lighting conditions into consideration

With the increasing use of electric bikes, electric bike crashes occur frequently. Analysing the influencing factors of electric bikecrashes is an effective way to reduce mortality and improve road safety. In this paper, spatial analysis is performed by geographicinformation system (GIS) to present the hot spots of electric bike crashes during daylight and darkness in Changsha, hunan Province,China. Based on the Ordered Probit (OP) model, we studied the risk factors that led to different severities of electric bike crashes.The results show that the main influencing variables include age, illegal behaviour, collision type and road factors. During daylightand darkness, elderly electric bike riders over the age of 65 years have a higher probability of fatal crashes. Not following trafficsignals and reverse driving are significantly related to the severity of riders’ injuries. In darkness, frontal collisions are significantfactors causing rider injury. In daylight, more serious crashes will be caused in bend and slope road segments. In darkness, roadswith no physically separated bicycle lanes increases the risk of riders being injured. Electric bike crashes are mainly concentratedin the commercial, public service and residential areas in the main urban area. In suburbs at darkness, electric bike riders are morelikely to be seriously injured. Adding protectionmeasures, such as improved lighting, non-motorized lane facilities and interventionstargeting illegal behaviour in the hot spot areas can effectively reduce the number of electric bike crashes in complex traffic.

Hepatitis B virus X protein-mediated upregulation of miR-221 activates the CXCL12-CXCR4 axis to promote NKT cells in HBVrelated hepatocellular carcinoma

Both hepatitis B virus X protein(HBx)and microRNA-221(miR-221)have been implicated in the development of hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).The present study demonstrates that HBx promotes HCC cell proliferation via the C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 12-C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4(CXCL12-CXCR4)axis.We predict that HBx/miR-221-mediated CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling induces NKT cells to promote HBV-related HCC.Methods:After miR-221 mimic,miR-221 mimic negative control,miR-221 inhibitor,miR-221 inhibitor negative control were transfected into cells,the expression of CXCL12 and miR-221 was detected by qPCR and western blot.Then we constructed a stable HBV-HCC cell line.HBV-HCC cells were injected into the nude mice,thus a HBV-HCC mouse model was constructed.Q-PCR and western blot were used to detect the expression of HBx,miR-221,CXCL12 and CXCR4 in tumor tissues.The expression of CXCL12 was detected by immunohistochemistry,and the expression of CXCR4,CD3 and CD56 was detected by immunofluorescence.The levels of CXCL12,IL-2 and TNF-αin serum of mice were detected by ELISA.Sixty-one patients with HBV-related HCC,61 patients with HBV-related cirrhosis,61 patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB)and 30 healthy people were enrolled.CXCL12,cytokine levels,and clinicopathological parameters were tested.Results:Hepatitis B virus X protein upregulates the expression of miR-221 and CXCL12 in lentivirus(LV5)-HBx-transfected HepG2 cells.HBx protein promotes HepG2 cell proliferation in vitro.HBx protein promoted tumor growth via the miR-221/CXCL12/CXCR4 pathway in a mouse tumor model.HBx protein upregulated natural killer T cell expression via the CXCR4/CXCL12 pathway to promote tumor growth.The data demonstrated a positive correlation between CXCL12 concentration with Cre levels and Child-Pugh scores.CXCL12 had an inferior diagnostic efficiency compared to IL-2 and IL-6 for HBV-related HCC.Conclusions:We present evidence that HBx/miR-221-mediated CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling induces NKT cells to promote HBV-related H

The use of renewable sources such as solar,ocean,geothermal,and wind energy to drive water electrolysis reactions to obtain green and clean hydrogen fuels is one of the important paths to achieve sustainable energy development.At present,most water electrolysis technologies need to conduct corresponding pre-processing,such as diluting water sources and purifying dehydration,which will greatly increase operating costs.The development of direct seawater electrolytic process can effectively solve the above problems.Here,we review the latest progress of the electrode materials and catalysts of the direct electrolysis process of seawater,and discuss how to design high activity and high-selective electrode materials for water electrolysis with familiar impurities (such as chloride,metal ions and biological organisms) existing in the future.

Isogeometric Analysis-Based Topological Optimization for Heterogeneous Parametric Porous Structures

Porous structures widely exist in nature and artifacts,which can be exploited to reduce structural weight and material usage or improve damage tolerance and energy absorption.In this study,the authors develop an approach to design optimized porous structures with Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces(TPMSs)in the framework of isogeometric analysis(IGA)-based topological optimization.In the developed method,by controlling the density distribution,the designed porous structures can achieve the optimal mechanical performance without increasing the usage of materials.First,the implicit functions of the TPMSs are adopted to design several types of porous elements parametrically.Second,to reduce the cost of computation,the authors propose an equivalent method to forecast the elastic modulus of these porous elements with different densities.Subsequently,the relationships of different porous elements between the elastic modulus and the relative density are constructed.Third,the IGA-based porous topological optimization is developed to obtain an optimal density distribution,which solves a volume constrained compliance minimization problem based on IGA.Finally,an optimum heterogeneous porous structure is generated based on the optimized density distribution.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method.

Immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)has achieved durable clinical responses and has significantly improved the overall survival of cancer patients1.Among the ICB agents,programmed death 1(PD-1)/programmed death ligand 1(PD-L1)antibodies are used to treat various human tumors by blocking PD-1/PD-L1 signaling.Impressive response rates with low autoimmune toxicity have been reported in 20%–30%of non-selected patients1;however,most patients fail to respond to PD-1/PD-L1 blockade or acquire resistance during therapy through unknown mechanisms1.

RIS-Assisted Over-the-Air Federated Learning in Millimeter Wave MIMO Networks

In this paper,we propose a reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)assisted over-the-air federated learning(FL),where multiple antennas are deployed at each edge device to enable simultaneous multidimensional model transmission over a millimeter wave(mmWave)network.We conduct rigorous convergence analysis for the proposed FL system,taking into account dynamic channel fading and analog transmissions.Inspired by the convergence analysis,we propose to jointly optimize the receive digital and analog beamforming matrices at the access point,the RIS phase-shift matrix,as well as the transmit beamforming matrices at transmitting devices to minimize the transmission distortion.The optimization variable coupling and non-convex constraints make the formulated problem challenging to be solved.To this end,we develop a low-complexity Riemannian conjugate gradient(RCG)-based algorithm to solve the unit modulus constraints and decouple the optimization variables.Simulations show that the proposed RCG algorithm outperforms the successive convex approximation algorithm in terms of the learning performance.

Potential friendship discovery in social networks based on hybrid ensemble multiple collaborative filtering models in a 5G network environment

At present, 5G network technology is being applied to various social network modes, and it can provide technical and traffic support for social networks. Potential friendship discovery technology in 5G-enabled social networks is beneficial for users to make potential friends and expand their range of activities and social hierarchy, which is highly sought after in today's social networks and has great economic and application value. However, the sparsity of the dominant user association dataset in 5G-enabled social networks and the limitations of traditional collaborative filtering algorithms are two major challenges for the friend recommendation problem. Therefore, in order to overcome these problems regarding previous models, we propose a Hybrid Ensemble Multiple Collaborative Filtering Model (HEMCF) for discovering potential buddy relationships. The HEMCF model draws on a special autoencoder method that can effectively exploit the association matrix between friends and additional information to extract a hidden representation of users containing global structural information. Then, it uses the random walk-based graph embedding algorithm DeepWalk to extract another hidden representation of users in the buddy network containing local structural information. Finally, in the output module, the HEMCF model stacks and multiplies the two types of hidden representations of users to ensure that the information mentioned above is concentrated in the final output to generate the final prediction value. The magnitude of the prediction value represents the probability of the users being friends, with larger values representing a high probability of the two users being friends, and vice versa. Experimental results show that the proposed method boosts the accuracy of the relationship prediction over baselines on 3 real-world public datasets dramatically.

Considering the impact of environmental white noise on the quantity and behavior ofvector of disease,a stochastic differential model describing the transmission of Denguefever between mosquitoes and humans,in this paper,is proposed.By using Lyapunovmethods and Ito's formula,we first prove the existence and uniqueness of a globalpositive solution for this model.Further,some sufficient conditions for the extinction andpersistence in the mean of this stochastic model are obtained by using the techniquesof a series of stochastic inequalities.In addition,we also discuss the existence of aunique stationary distribution which leads to the stochastic persistence of this disease.Finally,several numerical simulations are carried to illustrate the main results of thiscontribution.

Enhancing adhesive bond strength of CFRP/titanium joints through NaOH anodising and resin pre-coating treatments with optimised anodising conditions

Adhesively Bonded Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic(CFRP)and titanium alloy have been extensively used as a hybrid structure in modern aircrafts due to their excellent combination of mechanical properties and chemical stabilities.This study utilised NaOH anodising method to create micro-rough titanium surfaces for enhancing adhesive bonding between titanium alloy and CFRP laminates.A special and simple technique named Resin Pre-Coating(RPC)was also employed to improve the surface wetting of anodised titanium and grinded CFRP substrates.The influences of anodising temperature and duration on the surface morphology,wettability and adhesive bond strength were investigated.The single lap shear test results showed that the bond strength of specimens anodised at 20℃for 15 min improved by 135.9%and 95.4%,respectively,in comparison with that of acid pickled and grinded specimens(without RPC treatment).Although increasing the anodising temperature and duration produced rougher titanium surfaces,the adhesively bonded joints were not strong enough due to relatively friable titanium oxide layers.

To the Editor:In children’s growth process,regularly monitoring of the growth indices,such as children’s body weight,height,and other physical measurements,is helpful for the early diagnosis of nutritional risk and abnormal growth.[1]Several studies have suggested that hospitalized children,even those with mild clinical conditions,are at risk for developing malnutrition.An early determination of children at risk for developing malnutrition might avoid or diminish nutrition-associated complications and decrease the length of hospital stays.
