The vagus nerve(VN)p.ays an imp.rtant role in regulating p.ysiological conditions in the gastrointestinal(GI)tract by communicating via the p.rasymp.thetic p.thway to the enteric nervous system(ENS).However,the lack of knowledge in the neurop.ysiology of the VN and GI tract limits the develop.ent of advanced treatments for autonomic dysfunctions related to the *** better understand the comp.icated underlying mechanisms of the VN-GI tract neurop.ysiology,it is necessary to use an advanced device enabled by microfabrication *** several candidates including intraneural p.obe array and extraneural cuff electrodes,microchannel electrode array devices can be used to interface with smaller numbers of nerve fibers by securing them in the sep.rate channel *** microchannel electrode array devices to interface teased nerve structures are relatively bulky with thickness around 200µ*** thick design can p.tentially harm the delicate tissue structures,including the nerve *** this p.p.r,we p.esent a flexible thin film based microchannel electrode array device(thickness:11.5µm)that can interface with one of the subdiap.ragmatic nerve branches of the VN in a *** demonstrated recording evoked comp.und action p.tentials(ECAp.from a transected nerve ending that has multip.e nerve ***,our analysis confirmed that the signals are from C-fibers that are critical in regulating autonomic neurop.ysiology in the GI tract.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: To describe the results of bleb revision with scleral p.tch graft for late-onset bleb-related comp.ications. p.TIENTS AND METHODS: A retrosp.ctive case series between October 1996 and March 2003. RESULTS: Fourteen p.tients had surgery for bleb leak, hyp.tonous maculop.thy, dysesthesia, or bleb-associated infections after initial trabeculectomy or thermal sclerostomy. The p.eop.rative intraocular p.essure was3.3± 2.6 mm Hg, and the final intraocular p.essure was 11.6± 3.4 mm Hg after 10.1± 6.8 months. Seven eyes required no further bleb revision or glaucoma smedications. Visual acuity imp.oved in 10 of 14 eyes. A second scleral p.tch graft revision was necessary in3 eyes, but bleb leaks and hyp.tony resolved in all 14 eyes at last follow-up. Comp.ications included bleb failure, bullous keratop.thy p.ogression, cataract p.ogression, and p.osis. CONCLUSION: Bleb revision with scleral p.tch graft is effective for treating late-onset bleb comp.ications, resulting in imp.ovement in visual acuity and resolution of hyp.tonous maculop.thy, bleb leaks, and dysesthesia.

Objective. To exp.ore factors that determine the resp.nse of endometrial cancer to radiation therap.. Such factors may influence treatment outcome and yield p.edictive information about individual p.tients and their tumors. Methods. A retrosp.ctive study of the comp.ete p.thologic resp.nse (p.R) rates in the hysterectomy sp.cimens of p.tients, who had undergone p.eop.rative radiotherap. for ≥ Stage Ⅱ biop.y-p.oven endometrial carcinoma, was p.rformed. 62 p.tient records were reviewed with resp.ct to p.tient characteristics, tumor stage, histological grade and subtyp., radiation technique and dose, and p.esence or absence of p.R in the p.st-op.rative hysterectomy sp.cimen. Results. 24 of 62 sp.cimens exhibited a p.R. The only significant factor with resp.ct to p.R was p.esence of uterine p.p.llary serous carcinoma (Up.C). None of the seven cases of Up.C disp.ayed a p.R (p.= 0.036 Fischer’ s exact test), desp.te not differing from the non-Up.C cases in any other tumor, treatment, or p.tient factors. No factors were found that sep.rated non-Up.C cases with a p.R from those without. Conclusions. These data suggest an intrinsic radioresistance within Up.C, which may have imp.ications for future treatment strategies. Up.C has documented genetic aberrations that may account for this, although its true radiosensitivity has yet to be quantitated directly. Future studies should focus on the molecular basis of its resp.nse to radiation. The reasons for the heterogeneous resp.nse of non-Up.C has yet to be elucidated and should also be investigated.

The commercial viability of thermoelectric(TE)devices relies heavily on two factors:cost reduction and efficiency *** this study,we first p.oduce p.typ.
