Taoism refers to an indigenous Chinese philosophical and religious tradition. For more than two and a half millennia, it has had a profound social and intellectual influence on Eastern Asia and since the 19 th century has deeply influenced Western countries. Dao De Jing(《道德经》Tao Te Jing) is still considered to be the primary text of Taoism. The Tao Te Jing is attributed to Laozi, the classical Chinese Philosopher, and describes the major doctrines of Taoism. It is most relevant to Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). This article offers a brief introduction to the Taoism within TCM – the relation between Huang Di Nei Jing(《黄帝内经》The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic) and Dao De Jing(《道德经》Tao Te Jing).

CONSPECTUS:Temperature responsive supramolecular hydrogels,also known as thermogels,are produced by the self-assembly of amphiphilic copolymers in solution following temperature *** are a class of high caliber novel materials possessing highly attractive properties such as injectability,ability to undergo temperature controlled reversible sol−gel phase transitions,high biocompatibility,and tunable *** research vigor has been dedicated to designing advanced amphiphilic copolymers and investigating their molecular interactions in order to enhance the properties of the thermogelling systems and expand the scope of their *** such,thermogelling systems have since become well established in the field of sustained localized drug or protein delivery and have also been demonstrated as high potential materials for niche applications such as threedimensional cell culture,wound healing patches,and vitreous *** developments saw the advent of thermogelling systems with advanced biomedical applications ranging from enhanced cancer therapy to radiology imaging to tissue engineering,and these are usually achieved by the conjugating of biologically relevant molecules such as drugs and peptides to the thermogel copolymer or by incorporating nanoparticles into the thermogel *** developments in this field see a shift away from employing traditional synthetic polymers such as polypropylene glycol(PPG)and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)to utilizing more advanced nature-derived bioactive molecules and also introducing chiral moieties in the thermogelling copolymer backbone.

Multiple Omicron sub-lineages have emerged,with Omicron XBB and XBB.1.5 subvariants becoming the dominant variants globally at the time of this *** key feature of new variants is their ability to escape humoral immunity despite the fact that there are limited genetic changes from their preceding *** raises the question of whether Omicron should be regarded as a separate serotype from viruses serologically clustered with the ancestral severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)***,we present cross-neutralization data based on a pseudovirus neutralization test using convalescent sera from naïve individuals who had recovered from primary infection by SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 strains/variants including the ancestral virus and variants Beta,Delta,Omicron BA.1,Omicron BA.2 and Omicron *** results revealed no significant cross-neutralization in any of the three-way testing for SARS-CoV-1,ancestral SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV-2 Omicron *** data argue for the assignment of three distinct serotypes for the currently known human-infecting SARS-related coronaviruses.

Unit commitment and economic dispatch are two important decisions in thermal power generation scheduling. The tasks involve determination and allocation of power generation to thermal units that minimize the total power generation cost and satisfy the production *** paper presents a cascade Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization(GA-PSO)approach for solving thermal power generation scheduling based on a layered matrix encoding *** proposed hybrid method is compared to layered matrix encoding GA using the thermal power generation problem given in Williams[1]to demonstrate its effectiveness in generating an optimal,cost-effective power generation *** results showed that cascade GA-PSO outperformed the layered matrix encoding GA in minimizing the total power production cost for unit commitment and power dispatch problems.

Godtfredsen syndrome or clival syndrome is a rare syndrome of abducens and hypoglossal nerve palsies (cranial nerve 6th and 12th respectively) that localizes to a clival mass. There are few reported cases of this clinical presentation. The aim of this case report is to describe this rare manifestation observed in a woman with clival metastases arising from a thymoma. A previously well 34-year-old native lady presented to a district hospital in Sabah, Malaysia, with history of blurring of vision and headache for 1 month. Cranial nerve examination reveals right abducens nerve palsy (right 6th CN) and right hypoglossal nerve palsy (right 12th CN). Initial imaging with CT brain reveals a subtle extra-axial hyperdense mass adjacent to the clivus and a routine chest x-ray reveals a mediastinal mass. Further imaging of thorax showed right anterior mediastinal mass, which then proceeded with Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) guided biopsy. The biopsy result was consistent with the finding of thymoma, type B2. She was then diagnosed with aggressive form of thymoma, which unfortunately has metastasized to the bone, lung, liver and brain. Despite prognosis at the time of diagnosis is guarded, she still opted to undergo chemotherapy. Despite the completion of 6 cycles of chemotherapy, her disease progressed, and she eventually succumbed to the illness. In short, the presence of combined 6th and 12th palsy should alert clinician to the possibility of clival mass or metastases and hence could earlier workup with appropriate imaging can lead to earlier diagnosis and better treatment outcome.

In this article, transverse free vibrations of axially moving nanobeams subjected to axial tension are studied based on nonlocal stress elasticity theory. A new higher-order differential equation of motion is derived from the variational principle with corresponding higher-order, non-classical boundary conditions. Two supporting conditions are investigated, i.e. simple supports and clamped supports. Effects of nonlocal nanoscale, dimensionless axial velocity, density and axial tension on natural frequencies are presented and discussed through numerical examples. It is found that these factors have great influence on the dynamic behaviour of an axially moving nanobeam. In particular, the nonlocal effect tends to induce higher vibration frequencies as compared to the results obtained from classical vibration theory. Analytical solutions for critical velocity of these nanobeams when the frequency vanishes are also derived and the influences of nonlocal nanoscale and axial tension on the critical velocity are discussed.

A linear semi-continuum model with discrete atomic layers in the thickness direction was developed to investigate the bending behaviors of ultra-thin beams with nanoscale *** theoretical results show that the deflection of an ultra-thin beam may be enhanced or reduced due to different relaxation *** the relaxation coefficient is greater/less than one,the deflection of micro/nano-scale structures is enhanced/reduced in comparison with macro-scale ***,two opposite types of size-dependent behaviors are observed and they are mainly caused by the relaxation *** with the classical continuum model,exact nonlocal stress model and finite element model （FEM） verify the validity of the present semi-continuum *** particular,an explanation is proposed in the debate whether the bending stiffness of a micro/nano-scale beam should be greater or weaker as compared with the macro-scale *** characteristics of bending stiffness are proved to be associated with the relaxation coefficients.

Flexible and bio-integrated electronics have attracted great attention due to their enormous contributions to personalized medical *** sources,serving as one of the most important components,have been suffering from many problems,including deficient biocompatibility,poor stretchability,and unstable electrical outputs under deformed conditions,which limits the practical applications in flexible and bio-integrated ***,we reported a fully stretchable magnesium(Mg)–air battery based on dual-ions-conducting hydrogels(SDICH).The high-performance battery enables long-term operation with lighting 120 lighting emitting diodes(LEDs)for over 5 *** from the advanced materials and mechanical designs,the battery exhibits stability electrical outputs under stretching,which allows to operate ordinarily under various mechanical deformations without performance ***,the great biocompatibility of the battery offers great opportunity for biomedical applications,which is demonstrated by a self-adaption wound dressing *** in vitro and in vivo results prove that the self-adaption wound dressing can effectively prevent wound inflammation and promote wound *** exploiting thermal feedback mechanics,the system can adjust antibiotic release rate and dosage spontaneously according to the real-time wound *** proposed fully stretchable Mg-air battery and self-adaption wound dressing display great potential in skin-integrated electronics and personalized medicine.

This paper investigates the transverse vibration of a simply supported nanobeam with an initial axial tension based on the nonlocal stress field theory with a nonlocal size parameter. Considering an axial elongation due to transverse vibration, the internal axial tension is not precisely equal to the external initial tension. A sixth-order nonlinear partial differential equation that governs the transverse vibration for such nonlocal nanobeam is derived. Using a perturbation method, the relation between natural frequency and nonlocal nanoscale parameter is derived and the transverse vibration mode is solved. The external axial tension and nonlocal nanoscale parameter are proven to play significant roles in the nonlinear vibration behavior of nonlocal nanobeams. Such effects enhance the natural frequency and stiffness as compared to the predictions of the classical continuum mechanics models. Additionally, the frequency is higher if the precise internal axial load is considered with respect to that when only the approximate internal axial tension is assumed.
