An important aspect in the restoration of longitudinal connectivity in rivers and streams is the implementation of fish migration systems at the upstream of the functional hydraulic structures(weirs,drop structures or river sills).The diversity of these existing structures as well as the different locations of these weirs within the river,watershed and riparian zone challenge the design engineers to find new holistic solutions for fish migration *** Azuga River study area requires a new synergistic fish migration design *** a mountain area,rapid increase in water level is quite frequent,especially after heavy or prolonged rainfalls and during spring snow ***,it is necessary to design a specific system for fish migration to meet this location’s *** to the characteristics in this location of the Azuga river,the classic fish migration systems would not be *** indigenous/mountain trout is considered as the target species in this *** this is a good swimming species,the use of classical systems could,due to exhaustion,prevent and/or reduce the movement of fish upstream of the two weirs(also known as river sills).This new,comprehensive solution,presented in this paper includes:(i)the restoration and stabilization works of the right bank in the weir study area by using biotechnical measures and(ii)the upstream migration system itself-for supporting the migration of fish on the Azuga River.

Purpose: The aim of this scientific contribution is to show the potential that integral calculus has offered to the analysis of thermodynamic processes. Method: Application of Integral Calculus. In this context, the document covers the theoretical principles of integral calculus, such as Theoretical framework and background, Geometric interpretation of the primitive, Primitive existence theorem. Results: Integral calculus and generalized thermodynamic models, and their applications in various thermodynamic analysis contacts such as the Generalized Enthalpy Model, the Generalized Entropy Model, and the Generalized Model applied to gas mixtures and the General Model to elaborate the properties table. Conclusion: The mathematical analysis developed in this document is very useful in engineering and applied physics environments, a fact that supports its common pedagogical practice in university institutions.

A simple,*** and economic flow injection spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of O-（β-hydroxyethyl）*** procedure was based on the use of an anionic surfactant such as sodium dodecyl sulfate to provide an appreciable O-（β-hydroxyethyl）rutosides fluorescence enhancement,increasing considerably the sensitivity of *** the variables affecting the fluorescence intensity were studied and *** flow rate was 5 mL/min with detection at 450 nm（after excitation at 346 nm）.A linear correlation between drug amount and peak area was established for 0-（β-hydroxyethyl）rulosides in the range of 0.01-200 μg/mL with a detection limit of0.001 μg/mL（s/n = 3）.Validation processes were performed by recovering studies with satisfactory *** new methodology can be employed for the routine analysis of 0-（P-hydroxyethyl）rutosides in bulks as well as in commercial formulations.

Remediation effect of compost on soluble mercury transfer in a crop of Phaseolus vulgaris

We studied the dynamics of mercury（Hg） transfer in Phaseolus vulgaris plants grown in soil with Hg-doped compost at the maximum levels permitted by Colombian law on organic amendments. Quantitative evaluation of transfer was made in different plant organs： roots,stem, leaves, pods and seeds. Matrix effect was determined in doped soil assays, using soil with and without addition of compost. Results showed that the use of organic matter reduced Hg transfer to the plant and the amount transferred was differentially distributed to the organs. We observed an inverse relationship between concentration and distance from the body to the root. It was evident that transfer was mediated by quantitative factors;the greater the presence of mercury in soil, the larger the amount that will be *** also indicate the remedial effect of compost and the presence of a barrier, at the root level, against mercury translocation to the plant aerial parts.

A computational approach for achieving optimum daylight inside buildings through automated kinetic shading systems

Parametric architecture can be used to improve design quality by integrating and coordinating design components,and any change in one parameter affects the final *** is a crucial parameter in designing energy-efficient *** this research,daylight inside a building was improved by designing a kinetic shading system with independent units parametrically responding to sunlight through 3D rotation(around the centers of the units)and 2D movement(on the surface of the shading system).Various patterns were determined to create the unit’s basic form and allow the designer to have a wide range of *** units were defined with the plugin“Grasshopper.”Their rotation was parametrically controlled on the basis of sun path and weather data by using“Honeybee”and“Ladybug”plugins to provide constant optimized daylighting inside the *** showed that the use of such a shading system in optimal situations can greatly increase the efficiency of indoor daylight.

Climate drives ecosystem processes and impacts *** patterns over large areas,such as Canada’s boreal,can be monitored using indirect indicators derived from remotely sensed *** this paper,we characterized the historical space–time relationships between climate and a suite of indirect indicators of biodiversity,known as the Dynamic Habitat Index(DHI)to identify where climate variability is co-occurring with changes in biodiversity *** represented biodiversity using three indirect indicators generated from 1987 to 2007 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer *** quantifying and clustering temporal variability in climate data,we defined eight homogeneous climate variability zones,where we then analyzed the *** identified unique areas of change in climate,such as the Hudson Plains,that explain significant variations in *** variability in temperatures and growing season index had a strong influence on observed vegetation productivity and seasonality changes throughout Canada’s *** in precipitation,for most of the area,was not associated with DHI *** methodology presented here enables assessment of spatial–temporal relationships between biodiversity and climate variability and characterizes distinctive zones of variation that may be used for prioritization and planning to ensure long-term biodiversity conservation in Canada.

Diurnal variation of aethalometer correction factors and optical absorption assessment of nucleation events using multi-wavelength photoacoustic spectroscopy

A field measurement campaign was carried out during the late winter and early spring of2015 in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. The size distribution(SD) and optical absorption of carbonaceous particulate matter(CPM) was measured online using a Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer(SMPS), a 7λ-aethalometer and an inhouse developed 4λ-Photoacoustic Spectrometer. Based on the SD data, the measurement period could be classified into days with and without new particle formation events(normal days and nucleation days),although particular nucleation-like events were observed on normal days as well. Three characteristic size modes were observed with CMDs of circa 15, 25 and 110 nm that corresponded to the nucleation, traffic and heating modes. Based on the temporal behavior of these modes both types of days were divided into distinctive daily periods(heating hours,traffic hours and nucleation hours). The optical absorption spectra(OAC and AAE) also displayed the same part of day behavior to that of SD. That way this paper is among the first to assess the optical response of urban nucleation events. Due to the simultaneous measurement of OAC by the 7λ-aethalometer and a 4λ-Photoacoustic Spectrometer, OAC was measured overall at 11 wavelengths. That way aethalometer correction factors(f and C)were determined at all aethalometer wavelengths using in situ reference photoacoustic measurements. Correction factors were found to have both wavelength and time of the day variation. In the case of f, no clear trend could be observed, however, Cref values increased both as a function of wavelength.

Subsurface accumulation of CaCO3 and Cl- from groundwater under black locust and poplar plantations

When conditions are similar,more water evaporates from forest plantations than herbaceous vegetation,thereby affecting hydrological fluxes and ion transport in the *** vertical distribution of CaCO3 and Cl^-ions shifts due to *** effect of groundwater depth and clay content were studied in the Great Hungarian Plain where forest area has been increasing for decades by analyzing soil and groundwater samples from stands of black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia,11 plots)and poplar(Populus spp.,11 plots).All study sites contained one herbaceous(control)and one or more forested ***3 and Cl^-ions accumulated in the soil profile in greater quantities under tree cover than in the *** scale of this process largely depended on the species and on soil and ion *** black locust,Cl^-accumulated between 1.3 and 6.3 m,with a maximum difference of 0.3 pCl unit(pCl is Cl^-activity,the negative of the logarithm to base 10 of the concentration of the chloride ion,determined using an ion-selective electrode,it is a dimensionless quantity.),while the difference in CaCO3 accumulation was at most 3.5%in some layers,compared to control *** result may be explained by the difference in the mobility of Ca+and Cl^-*** mechanisms were noticeable under poplar plantations due to their higher water uptake:Cl-accumulation was detected below 0.9 m to the groundwater with a maximum difference of 0.5 pCl units,while CaCO3 accumulation was continuous at depths of 2.3–6.8 m with a maximum difference of 8.4%,compared to the *** increasing clay content,there was a discernible effect on CaCO3 and Cl-accumulation under black locust,but not observed under *** differences were explained by the differences in water uptake mechanisms and root patterns of the two species and the different mobility of Ca2^+and Cl-ions.

Problematic Internet use in drug addicts under treatment in public rehab centers

BACKGROUND Problematic Internet use(PIU)or Internet addiction has been recognized to be a behavioral addiction characterized by excessive or poorly controlled preoccupations,urges,or behaviors regarding computer use and Internet access that leads to impairment or distress resembling substance *** To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of Internet use and abuse in a group of drug addicts from Southern Italy,by means of a specific questionnaire[“Questionario sull’Utilizzo delle Nuove Tecnologie”(QUNT)].METHODS All subjects(183)were heavy smokers,almost 50%of them used heroin and/or opioid compounds,30%alcohol,10%cannabis,8%cocaine,and 5%were polydrug *** 10%of the individuals were also suffering from gambling *** The time spent online was more than 4 hours a day in the total sample,with a slight prevalence in male *** and cannabis users spent more than 6 hours online,significantly more than opioid and alcohol *** of the QUNT factors was not different in both *** users showed higher scores at the“loss of control”,“pornography addiction”,and“addiction to social networks”factors,for the stimulant effect of this ***,15 out of the total 17 cocaine users were pathological *** and statistically significant relationships were observed between some QUNT factors and body mass *** These findings indicate that PIU is less severe in subjects taking sedative substances,such as heroin/opioids and alcohol,than in subjects taking ***,it may be used as a“stimulant”trigger in cocaine and cannabis *** effect of abuse drugs was noted on possible sex-related differences in QUNT *** observed a sort of“protective”effect of a love relationship and/or living together with a partner,as those engaged subjects showed lower scores on different items than single subjects or those living *** relationship between time spent online(and re
