Ni-doped ZnCo2O4 atomic layers to boost the selectivity in solar-driven reduction of CO2

Regulating the selectivity of CO2 photoreduction is particularly challenging. Herein, we propose ideal models of atomic layers with/without element doping to investigate the effect of doping engineering to tune the selectivity of CO2 photoreduction. Prototypical ZnCo2O4 atomic layers with/without Ni-doping were first synthesized. Density functional theory calculations reveal that introducing Ni atoms creates several new energy levels and increases the density-of-states at the conduction band minimum. Synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy demonstrates that the band structures are suitable for CO2 photoreduction, while the surface photovoltage spectra demonstrate that Ni doping increases the carrier separation efficiency. In situ diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectra disclose that the CO2^- radical is the main intermediate, while temperature-programed desorption curves reveal that the ZnCo2O4 atomic layers with/without Ni doping favor the respective CO and CH4 desorption. The Ni-doped ZnCo2O4 atomic layers exhibit a 3.5-time higher CO selectivity than the ZnCo2O4 atomic layers. This work establishes a clear correlation between elemental doping and selectivity regulation for CO2 photoreduction, opening new possibilities for tailoring solar-driven photocatalytic behaviors.

Scar formation seriously affects the repair of damaged skin especially in adults and the excessive inflammation has been considered as the *** self-assembled peptide-hydrogels are ideal biomaterials for skin wound healing due to their similar nanostructure to natural extracellular matrix,hydration environment and serving as drug delivery *** our study,resveratrol,a polyphenol compound with anti-inflammatory effect,is loaded into peptide-hydrogel(Fmoc-FFGGRGD)to form a wound dressing(Pep/RES).Resveratrol is slowly released from the hydrogel in situ,and the release amount is controlled by the loading *** in vitro cell experiments demonstrate that the Pep/RES has no cytotoxicity and can inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines of *** Pep/RES hydrogels are used as wound dressings in rat skin damage *** results suggest that the Pep/RES dressing can accelerate wound healing rate,exhibit well-organized collagen deposition,reduce inflammation and eventually prevent scar *** Pep/RES hydrogels supply a potential product to develop new skin wound dressings for the therapy of skin damage.

Assessing climate change impacts on crop phenology is essential for developing adaptation *** better understand crop response and adaptation to climate change,there is an urgent need to investigate whether the impacts weakens and how crops responds to recent climate warming,as well as the roles of different drivers in crop phenology ***,we analyzed the spatiotemporal changes in maize phenology and the underlying mechanisms over 1981–2018 using up-to-date 6106 phenological observations at 327 agro-meteorological stations in *** found that during 1981–2018 maize sowing and maturity dates were generally delayed by 0.6 and 1.2 d per decade,respectively,whereas heading date was advanced by 0.9 d per *** phenology was most negatively correlated with rising minimum temperature(night-time warming),followed by maximum(daytime)temperature,and least by mean *** trends in maize phenology and the correlation between growth periods and temperature generally declined from 1981 to 1999 to 2000–2018 for both spring and summer maize,although climate warming during growth period did not slow *** phenological response to temperature weakened mainly owing to agricultural managements,especially cultivar *** change shortened growth period by 3.4 and 1.7 d per decade but cultivar shifts prolonged it by 4.5 and 2.1 d per decade for spring and summer maize,*** study highlights that maize phenology is more sensitive to night-time warming than daytime warming,and cultivar shifts far outweigh climate *** findings foster the understanding of spatiotemporal dynamics of maize phenology and its drivers,which can benefit to develop effective climate change adaptation options for different regions.

Effect of Calcium on the Vanadium Extraction from High Calcium Type Stone Coal

The high calcium type stone coal from Hubei province was leached by water and dilute acid separately after being roasted with different dosage of Na Cl. The water leaching rate of vanadium（WLRV） was low and only 26.8% of vanadium can be leached by water when 4% Na Cl was added, but the acid leaching rate of vanadium（ALRV） was relatively high. Calcium in the high calcium type stone coal is greatly superfl uous relative to vanadium, hence, the calcium reacts with vanadium to form Ca（VO3）2, Ca2V2O7 and Ca3（VO4）2orderly during the stone coal roasting process and high temperature is beneficial to the reactions between calcium and vanadium, which was validated by simulated reactions between pure calcium carbonate and vanadium pentoxide. These calcium vanadates are all water insoluble but acid soluble and this causes the low WLRV and relatively high ALRV. After calcium removal by HCl, the WLRV is highly enhanced and reaches about 50% when only 2% Na Cl was added. If the HCl content is too high, the stone coal is easily sintered and the formed glass structure can enwrap vanadium, which leads the WLRV to decline. Single water leaching process is not appropriate to extract vanadium from high calcium type stone coal.

Autophagy and apoptosis have been regarded as important processes in the development of diabetic erectile dysfunction(DMED).Probucol is considered to have anti-apoptotic effects,but its relationship with autophagy has not been *** aim of this study was to investigate the effects and mechanisms of probucol on erectile *** Sprague–Dawley(SD)male rats(12 weeks old)were fasted for 12 *** SD rats were injected with a single intraperitoneal injection of 60 mg kg−1 streptozotocin(STZ).Ten rats were given vehicle only and used as a sham *** 72 h,20 STZ-treated rats with random blood glucose concentrations consistently greater than 16.7 mmol l^−1 were used as successfully established diabetic *** diabetic rats were divided randomly into two groups and treated with a daily gavage of probucol at a dose of 0 or 500 mg kg^−1 for 12 *** treatment,the intracavernous pressure(ICP)was used to measure erectile function upon electrical stimulation of the cavernous *** euthanasia,penile tissue was examined using immunohistochemistry and Western blot to assess the protein levels of B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2),BCL2-associated X(Bax),microtubule-associated protein light chain 3-II(LC3-II),mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR),and sequestosome 1(P62).Caspase-3 activity was measured to determine apoptosis using a caspase-3 assay *** 12 weeks of treatment,the erectile function of the probucol group was significantly better than that of the DM group(P<0.05).Bax and LC3-II protein expression and caspase-3 activity were significantly lower in the probucol group than those in the DM group(all P<0.05),while Bcl-2,mTOR,and P62 protein expression levels were significantly higher than those in the DM group(all P<0.05).We demonstrated that probucol inhibited apoptosis and autophagy in STZ-induced diabetic rats.

Photooxidation provides a promising strategy for removing the dominant indoor pollutant of HCHO,while the underlying photooxidation mechanism is still unclear,especially the exact role of H2O ***,we utilize in-situ spectral techniques to unveil the H2O-mediated HCHO photooxidation *** an example,the synthetic defective Bi2WO6 ultrathin sheets realize high-rate HCHO photooxidation with the assistance of H2O at room ***-situ electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy demonstrates the existence of•OH radicals,possibly stemmed from H2O oxidation by the photoexcited ***-radiation vacuum ultraviolet photoionization mass spectroscopy and H218O isotope-labeling experiment directly evidence the formed•OH radicals as the source of oxygen atoms,trigger HCHO photooxidation to produce CO2,while in-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy discloses the HCOO*radical is the main photooxidation ***-functional-theory calculations further reveal the•OH formation process is the rate-limiting step,strongly verifying the critical role of H2O in promoting HCHO *** work first clearly uncovers the H2O-mediated HCHO photooxidation mechanism,holding promise for high-efficiency indoor HCHO removal at ambient conditions.

A magnetic metal organic framework（MMOF） was synthesized and used to separate Sr^2＋ in aqueous solution. The shape and structure of prepared Fe3O4@UiO-66-NH2 were characterized, and the absorbed concentration of strontium was determined through inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The results indicated that Fe3O4 and UiO-66-NH2 combined through chemical bonding. The experimental adsorption results for separation of Sr^2＋ in aqueous solution indicated that the adsorption of Sr^2＋ to Fe3O4@UiO-66-NH2 increased drastically from pH 11 to pH 13. The adsorption isotherm model indicated that the adsorption of Sr^2＋ conformed to the Freundlich isotherm model（R2 = 0.9919）. The MMOF thus inherited the superior qualities of magnetic composites and metal organic frameworks, and can easily be separated under an external magnetic field. This MMOF thus has potential applications as a magnetic adsorbent for low level radionuclide （90）Sr.
