Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 solid solution was successfully synthesized using cerium nitrate, zirconium nitrate, and urea as raw materials by the microwave irradiation method and characterized by X-ray diffraction, fluorescence spectrum, transmission electron microscopy, and infrared spectrum. Its acid catalytic activity was evaluated in the esterification reaction of acetic acid and n-butyl alcohol. The results show that Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 solid solution has cubic fluorite structure, and its particle diameter is in the nanometer scale. As a sort of solid acid, it possesses a higher acid catalytic activity and can be easily separated from reaction liquids. It can be used for several times, and basically, its activity keeps constant. The proton acid sites and Lewis acid sites exist in the structure of Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 solid solution.

Background Activation of glial cells and the extracellular signal-regulated kinase （ERK） signaling pathway play an important role in the development and maintenance of neuropathic pain. Curcumin can alleviate the symptom of inflammatory pain by inhibiting the production and release of interleukin and tumor necrosis factor. However, whether curcumin affects neuropathic pain induced by nerve injury and the possible mechanism involved are still unknown. This study investigated the effects of tolerable doses of curcumin on the activation of astrocytes and ERK signaling in the spinal dorsal horn in rat model of neuropathic pain. Methods Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups： a control （sham operated） group, and chronic constriction injury groups （to induce neuropathic pain） that were either untreated or treated with curcumin. Thermal and mechanical hyperalgesia thresholds were measured. The distribution and morphological changes of astrocytes were observed by immunofluorescence. Western blotting was used to detect changes in the expression of gtial fibrillary acid protein （GFAP） and phosphorylated ERK. Results Injured rats showed obvious mechanical allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia. The number of GFAP-positive astrocytes, and the fluorescence intensity of GFAP were significantly increased in the spinal dorsal horn of injured compared with control rats. The soma of astrocytes also appeared hypertrophied in injured animals. Expression of GFAP and phosphorylated ERK was also significantly increased in the spinal dorsal horn of injured compared with control rats. Curcumin reduced the injury-induced thermal and mechanical hyperalgesia, the increase in the fluorescence intensity of GFAP and the hypertrophy of astrocytic soma, activation of GFAP and phosphorylation of ERK in the spinal dorsal horn. Conclusions Curcumin can markedly alleviate nerve injury-induced neuropathic pain in rats. The analgesic effect of curcumin may be attributed to its

In a previous study, a salt stress-induced programmed cell death （PCD） model was established in rice root tip cells. Here, by using Wuyunjing 8th rice seedlings, the effects of lanthanum on salt stress-induced PCD early events were studied. The results indicated that low concentrations （10 μmol/L）, but not high concentrations （100 μmol/L） of LaCl3 could effectively prevent salt stress-induced PCD. Further study demonstrated that in the early stages of salt-induced PCD process, 10 μmol/L of La^3＋ could prevent the increase of cytoplasmic calcium levels, inhibit reactive oxygen species （ROS） production, and enhance the ROS-scavenging enzyme activities such as superoxide dismutases （SOD） and ascorbate peroxidase （APX）. Imidazole （20 mmol/L）, the inhibitor of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-oxidase （NADPH oxidase）, could alleviate the occurrence of PCD obviously, and such alleviation could be enhanced by the addition of La^3＋, indicating the involvement of NADPH oxidase in the salt stress-induced PCD process. Taken together, lanthanum could prevent salt stress-induced PCD occurrence in the rice root tip cells by blocking the calcium influx under stress, which was followed by inhibiting calcium-dependent NADPH oxidase activity to prevent O2^·- production and, enhancing the cytosolic antioxidative enzyme activities to scavenge the reactive oxygen species.

Background： Giant cell tumors （GCTs） are benign, locally aggressive tumors. We exalnined the rate of local rectirrence of spinal GCTs and sought to identify recurrence factors in patients who underwent surgery. Methods： Between 1995 and 2014, 94 mobile spine GCT patients were treated at our hospital, comprising 43 male and 51 female patients with an average age of 33.4 years. Piecemeal intralesional spondylectomy and total en bloc spondylectomy （TES） were performed. Radiotherapy was suggested for recurrent or residual GCT cases. Since denosumab was not available before 2014 in our country, only interferon and/or zoledronic acid was suggested. Results： Of the 94 patients, four underwent conservative treatment and 90 underwent operations. Seventy-five patients （79.8%） were followed tip for a minimum of 24 months or until death. The median follow-up duration was 75.3 months. The overall recurrence rate was 37.3%. Ten patients （13.3%） died before the last follow-up （rnedian： 18.5 months）. Two patients （2.6%） developed osteogenic sarcoma. The local recurrence rate was 80.0% （24/30） in patients who underwent intralesional curettage, 8.8% （3/34） in patients who underwent extracapsular piecemeal spondylectomy,and 0 （0/9） in patients who underwent TES. The risk factors for local recurrence were lesions located in the cervical spine （P = 0.049）, intralesional curettage （P 〈 0.001 ）, repeated surgeries （P 0.014）, and malignancy （P 〈 0.001 ）. Malignant transformation was a significant risk factor for death （P 〈 0.001 ）. Conclusions： Cervical spinal tumors, curettage, and nonintact tumors were risk l;actors for local recurrence. Intralesional curettage and malignancy were the most important significant factors for local rectirrence and death, respectively.

Antimony sulfide(Sb_(2)S_(3))is a promising anode for lithium-ion batteries due to its high capacity and vast ***,the low electronic conductivity and severe volume change during cycling hinder its *** our work,a three-dimensional(3D)Sb_(2)S_(3) thin film anode was fabricated via a simple vapor transport deposition system by using natural stibnite as raw material and stainless steel fiber-foil(SSF)as 3D current collector,and a carbon nanotube interphase was introduced onto the film surface by a simple dropping-heating process to promote the electrochemical *** 3D structure can greatly improve the initial coulombic efficiency to a record of 86.6% and high reversible rate capacity of 760.8 mAh·g^(-1) at 10 *** carbon nanotubes interphase modified,the Sb_(2)S_(3) anode cycled extremely stable with high capacity retention of 94.7% after 160 *** work sheds light on the economical preparation and performance optimization of Sb_(2)S_(3)-based anodes.

Background: This meta-analysis aimed to determinethe role of human fatty acid binding protein 2 (FABP2)expression in the diagnosis of necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC) of *** sources: Eligible studies for further statisticalanalysis were identified from various databases including PubMed, Expert Medica Database, Web of Science,Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, China BioMedicineand China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Randomeffects model was used, and summary standardized meandifference (SMD) with its 95% confi dence interval (CI) wascalculated to assess the association of FABP2 expressionand ***: Ten articles which included 572 infants (262infants with NEC and 310 healthy controls) were includedin the current meta-analysis. FABP2 showed a positiverelationship with NEC of newborns (SMD=2.88, 95%CI=2.09-3.67, P<0.001). And FABP2 expression washigher in patients with advanced stage of NEC (stage IIIor stage II+III) than in those with early stage of NEC(stage I) (SMD=-0.48, 95% CI=-0.87 to -0.09, P=0.015).Ethnicity-stratifi ed analysis yielded signifi cantly differentestimates with a high FABP2 expression in NEC in bothCaucasians (SMD=3.16, 95% CI=1.90-4.43, P<0.001) andAsians (SMD=2.57, 95% CI=1.50-3.64, P<0.001). Samplebasedsubgroup analysis showed that FABP2 expressionwas positively correlated with neonatal NEC in bothurinary- and blood-sample subgroups (all P<0.05).Conclusion: The results prove that the high FABP2expression is related to the damage to intestinal cells,which may be a possible early detection marker identifyingneonatal NEC.

A novelγ-γ'(Ni solid solution—Ni_(3)Al)NiPtAl coating was produced on advanced single-crystal(SC)superalloy N5 by electroplating of a thin Pt coating with~3μm in thickness followed by heat treatment at 1000℃in *** comparison,a traditionalγ-γ'NiPtAl coating was also produced by electroplating of a thick Pt coating with~6μm in thickness followed by heat treatment at 1100℃in *** novel coating has a mass gain of~0.5 mg·cm^(-2)after 100 h 1-h cyclic oxidation at 1150℃,showing better oxidation resistance than the traditional *** oxide scale mostly consisting ofα-Al_(2)O_(3)grew on the novel coating because the element Cr from the SC alloy substrate contributes to the formation ofα-Al_(2)O_(3).Pt content in the novel coating has significant effect on the oxidation *** optimized Pt content in the coating is about 16 at%,which is helpful to reduce the diffusion of harmful elements from the substrate into the coating but also to reduce the cost of the coating.

Protection of Carassius auratus Gibelio against infection by Aeromonas hydrophila using specific immunoglobulins from hen egg yolk

Specific immunoglobulin (IgY) from egg yolk against Aeromonas hydrophila was produced by immunization of White Leghorn hens with formalin-killed whole cells of A. hydrophila. ELISA test using A. hydrophila as the coating antigen revealed that the specific antibody titer started to increase in the egg yolk at the 13th day post-immunization (P/N=2.18), reached the peak at the 56th day (P/N=13.82), and remained at high level until day 133 (P/N=7.03). The antibody was purified by saturated ammonium sulphate with a recovery rate of 63.5%. The specific IgY inhibited the growth of A. hydrophila at a concentration of 1.0 mg/ml during the 18 h incubation. Pre-treatment of polyploid gibel carps Carassius auratus Gibelio with specific IgY had a protection rate of 60% (6/10) against challenge with A. hydrophila, while none of the fishes in the control groups receiving sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS) or non-specific IgY survived the challenge. Treatment of fishes with the specific IgY 4 h after the challenge also had lower mortality (70%, 7/10), a 30% reduction against the control PBS or non-specific IgY groups (10/10). These results indicate that specific IgY antibodies could be obtained easily from hens immunized with an inactivated A. hydrophila and could provide a novel alternative approach to control of diseases in fishes caused by this organism.
