Correlations between hippocampal functional connectivity,structural changes,and clinical data in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis:a case-control study using multimodal magnetic resonance imaging

Multiple sclerosis is associated with structural and functional brain alterations leading to cognitive impairments across multiple domains including attention,memory,and the speed of information *** hippocampus,which is a brain important structure involved in memory,undergoes microstructural changes in the early stage of multiple *** this study,we analyzed hippocampal function and structure in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis and explored correlations between the functional connectivity of the hippocampus to the whole brain,changes in local brain function and microstructure,and cognitive function at *** retrospectively analyzed data from 20 relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis patients admitted to the Department of Neurology at the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University,China,from April 2015 to November *** healthy volunteers were recruited as the healthy control *** participants were evaluated using a scale of extended disability status and the Montreal cognitive assessment within 1 week before and after head diffusion tensor imaging and functional magnetic resonance *** with the healthy control group,the patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis had lower Montreal cognitive assessment scores and regions of simultaneously enhanced and attenuated whole-brain functional connectivity and local functional connectivity in the bilateral *** diffusion tensor imaging data showed that,compared with the healthy control group,patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis had lower hippocampal fractional anisotropy values and higher mean diffusivity values,suggesting abnormal hippocampal *** left hippocampus whole-brain functional connectivity was negatively correlated with the Montreal cognitive assessment score(r=-0.698,P=0.025),and whole-brain functional connectivity of the right hippocampus was negatively correlated with extended disability stat

PEG-grafted PVA Membrane and Its Blood Compatibility

Preparation and blood compatibility of different shape polyvinyl alcohol（PVA） membrane were investigated. Firstly, the tabular and tubular[polytetrafluoroethylene（PTFE） capillary as supporter] PVA membranes were prepared; then, methoxy polyethylene glycol（mPEG） was grafted onto the surface of the PVA membranes. The effects of the shape, structure and properties of the membrane surface on blood compatibility were studied in detail. The experiment results show that mPEG modified PVA membranes, especially mPEG modified tubular membrane, could availably repel the adhesion of the platelets. In addition, the anticoagulant mechanism of mPEG with a steric repulsion effectiveness was confirmed further via different grafting methods.

Accurate intelligent reasoning systems are vital for intelligent *** this study,a new intelligent reasoning system was developed for milling processes to accurately predict tool wear and dynamically optimize machining *** developed system consists of a self-learning algorithm with an improved particle swarm optimization(IPSO)learning algorithm,prediction model determined by an improved case-based reasoning(ICBR)method,and optimization model containing an improved adaptive neural fuzzy inference system(IANFIS)and *** results showed that the IPSO algorithm exhibited the best global convergence *** ICBR method was observed to have a better performance in predicting tool wear than standard CBR *** IANFIS model,in combination with IPSO,enabled the optimization of multiple objectives,thus generating optimal milling *** paper offers a practical approach to developing accurate intelligent reasoning systems for sustainable and intelligent manufacturing.

Magnetic/dielectric@porous carbon composites,derived from metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)with adjustable composition ratio,have attracted wide attention due to their unique magnetoelectric *** addition,MOFs-derived porous carbon-based materials can meet the needs of lightweight *** paper reports a simple process for synthesizing stacked CoxNiy@C nanosheets derived from CoxNiy-MOFs nanosheets with multiple interfaces,which is good to the microwave *** CoxNiy@C with controllable composition can be obtained by adjusting the ratio of Co^2+ and Ni^2+.It is supposed that the increased Co content is benefit to the dielectric and magnetic ***,the bandwidth of CoNi@C nanosheets can take up almost the whole Ku ***,this composite has better environmental stability in air,which characteristic provides a sustainable potential for the practical application.

Verification of a self-developed CFD-based multi-physics coupled code MPC-LBE for LBE-cooled reactor

To perform an integral simulation of a pool-type reactor using CFD code,a multi-physics coupled code MPC-LBE for an LBE-cooled reactor was proposed by integrating a point kinetics model and a fuel pin heat transfer model into self-developed CFD *** code verification,a code-to-code comparison was employed to validate the CFD ***,a typical BT transient benchmark on the LBE-cooled XADS reactor was selected for verification in terms of the integral or system *** on the verification results,it was demonstrated that the MPC-LBE coupled code can perform thermal-hydraulics or safety analyses for analysis for processes involved in LBE-cooled pool-type reactors.

Co_((1-x))ZnxFe_(2)O_(4)nanospheres(x=0,0.5,0.8)with a unidirectional cubic spinel structure were prepared by a solvothermal *** using a range of theoretical and empirical models,the experimental heat capacity values were fitted as a function of temperature over a suitable temperature range to explain the possible relationship between the magnetic properties and microstructure of the *** a result,at a low temperature(T50 K),the Debye temperature decreases with increasing Zn concentration,which is due to the weakening of the interatomic bonding force after the addition of non-magnetic materials to the Co Fe_(2)O_(4)spinel ferrite.

Effects of Gd^(3+) on Luminescence Properties of Eu^(3+) within Polymeric Structure in Aqueous Solutions

?6′ tetracarboxy 4,4′ bipyridine was synthesized and the luminescence enhancement of their Eu 3+ complexes by Gd 3+ was observed. The results indicate that the mechanism of enhancement is based on the formation of a polymeric structure where Eu 3+ and Gd 3+ are linked together by the ligands, which favours the consequent transfer of absorbed energy along the polymeric chain through several ligands toward the Eu 3+ .

Uranium hexafluoride(UF6)leakage accidents represent one of the most serious classes of accidents in the gasification process in nuclear fuel manufacturing *** UF6 leakage accidents include various fault conditions,such as pipeline and valve breakages or ruptures and pipeline *** establishing goal-oriented(GO)operators that can represent multi-fault states,this study estimates the probabilities of various fault states corresponding to UF6 leakage accidents in the gasification process using the GO methodology and analyzes the system *** article expands the scope of the GO methodology and provides technical support for reliability analysis using the GO methodology in multi-fault systems.

The Halo Concentration and Mass Relation Traced by Satellite Galaxies

We study the relation between halo concentration and mass(c-M relation) using galaxy catalogs of the Seventh and Eighth Data Releases of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey(SDSS DR7 and DR8). Assuming that the satellite galaxies follow the distribution of dark matter, we derive the halo concentration by fitting the satellite radial profile with a Nararro Frank and White(NFW) format. The derived c-M relation covers a wide halo mass range from10^(11.6)to 10^(14.1)M_(⊙). We confirm the anti-correlation between the halo mass and concentration as predicted in cosmological simulations. Our results are in good agreement with those derived using galaxy dynamics and gravitational lensing for halos of 10^(11.6)– 10^(12.9)M_(⊙), while they are slightly lower for halos of 10^(12.9)– 10^(14.1)M_(⊙).This is because blue satellite galaxies are less concentrated, especially in the inner regions. Instead of using all satellite galaxies, red satellites could be better tracers of the underlying dark matter distribution in galaxy groups.

Near-infrared luminescent Nd^(3+)/Yb^(3+)-codoped metal-organic framework for ratiometric temperature sensing in physiological range

Self-calibrating luminescent thermometry employing luminescence within the optical transparency windows provides a promising prospect for temperature measurement in the biological *** this work,a new Nd^(3+)/Yb^(3+)-codoped metal-organic framework Nd_(0.95)Yb_(0.05)BPTC showing threedimensional anionic network,obtained by reacting ligand[1,1’-biphenyl]-3,3’,5,5’-tetracarboxylic acid(H4BPTC)with Nd^(3+)and Yb^(3+)ions under solvothermal conditions,is *** 808 nm photoexcitation,Nd_(0.95)Yb_(0.05)BPTC simultaneously emits the characteristic near-infrared luminescence of Nd^(3+)and Yb^(3+)ions based on the efficient energy transfer from Nd^(3+)to Yb^(3+)*** addition,the emission intensity ratio of Yb^(3+)and Nd^(3+)shows good exponential-like response to temperature in the physiological range of 293-323 *** feature properties of Nd_(0.95)Yb_(0.05)BPTC include near-infrared absorption and emission,favorable temperature sensitivity and accurate temperature uncertainty,as well as good chemical stability,making such system useful in biomedical applications.
