Few-layer Ti3C2Tx MXene delaminated via flash freezing for high-rate electrochemical capacitive energy storage

Few-layer Ti3C2Tx MXene is synthesized from multi-layered Ti3C2Tx via a flash freezing-assisted delamination *** the flash freezing process,the water molecules in the interlayers of multi-layered MXene are induced to rearrange and produce volume expansion,thus notably expand the MXenes’interlayer distance to form few-layer *** synthesized few-layer Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets display a very small thickness(less than 5 Ti3C2 atom-layers)and expanded interlayer ***,the few-layer Ti3C2Tx exhibits enhanced capacitance(255 F g^-1 vs.177 F g^-1 for the multi-layered Ti3C2Tx)and significantly optimized rate capability(150 F g^-1 at 200 mV s^-1 vs.25 F g^-1 for the multi-layered Ti3C2Tx),because redox-active sites in the few-layer MXene are easily accessible to electrolyte ***,an asymmetric supercapacitor is constructed using the few-layer Ti3C2Tx negative electrode and an activated carbon fiber positive *** asymmetric supercapacitor presents a high energy density of 17.9 Wh kg^-1 and a high power density of 14 kW kg^-1,which is inseparable from its wide voltage window of 1.4 V and the good rate performance of the few-layer Ti3C2Tx MXene ***,the flash freezing-assist delamination provides an effective and environmental-friendly strategy to synthesize few-layer MXene materials for high-rate electrochemical energy storage.

Variability of Antarctic sea ice extent over the past 200 years

While Arctic sea ice has been decreasing in recent decades that is largely due to anthropogenic forcing,the extent of Antarctic sea ice showed a positive trend during 1979–2015, followed by an abrupt decrease. The shortness of the satellite record limits our ability to quantify the possible contribution of anthropogenic forcing and internal variability to the observed Antarctic sea ice variability. In this study,ice core and fast ice records with annual resolution from six sites are used to reconstruct the annualresolved northernmost latitude of sea ice edge(NLSIE) for different sectors of the Southern Ocean, including the Weddell Sea(WS), Bellingshausen Sea(BS), Amundsen Sea(AS), Ross Sea(RS), and the Indian and western Pacific Ocean(Ind WPac). The linear trends of the NLSIE are analyzed for each sector for the past100–200 years and found to be à0.08°, à0.17°, +0.07°, +0.02°, and à0.03° per decade(!95% confidence level) for the WS, BS, AS, RS, and Ind WPac, respectively. For the entire Antarctic, our composite NLSIE shows a decreasing trend(à0.03° per decade, 99% confidence level) during the 20 th century, with a rapid decline in the mid-1950 s. It was not until the early 1980 s that the observed increasing trend occurred. A comparison with major climate indices shows that the long-term linear trends in all five sectors are largely dominated by the changes in the Southern Annular Mode(SAM). The multi-decadal variability in WS,BS, and AS is dominated by the Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation, whereas that in the Ind WPac and RS is dominated by the SAM.

Residue behaviors and dietary risk of cyazofamid in turnip,onion and romaine lettuce assessed by a QuEChERS-LC-MS/MS methods

In this study, the dissipation, terminal residues and dietary risk of the cyazofamid residue in three globally consumed minor crops, turnip(Brassica rapa L.), onion(Allium cepa L.)and romaine lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.)were assessed by supervised field trials at 6 locations of China in 2020. A reliable QuEChERS-LC-MS/MS method was developed for simultaneous analysis of cyazofamid and its primary metabolite, 4-chloro-5-p-tolylimidazole-2-carbonitrile(CCIM). The average recoveries of cyazofamid and CCIM in turnip, onion and romaine lettuce were 79%–97% and 77%–99%, respectively. The half-lives of cyazofamid in these crops were 5.7–6.5, 5.3–8.7 and 5.8–6.5 days in turnip, onion and romaine lettuce, respectively, with the final cyazofamid residues at harvest all lower than limit of quantitation(LOQ, 0.01 mg/kg). The turnip roots, onion bulbs and romaine lettuce leaves grown in China under good Agricultural Practices conditions and harvested 10, 14 and 5 days, respectively, after the cyazofamid SC(100 g/L)application, would be reasonably safe for consumption by the general population. The maximum residue limit(MRL)values of cyazofamid could be tentatively set as 10 mg/kg for turnip leaves, 0.3 mg/kg for turnip roots, 0.05 mg/kg for onion bulbs, and 10 mg/kg for romaine lettuce leaves.
