Heat preservation,antifouling,hemostatic and antibacterial aerogel wound dressings for emergency treatment

Hemostatic dressings with multiple functions are superior to current hemostatic dressings for use in the complex situation of emergency *** particular,the existing dressings lack consideration for the prevention of hypothermic shock after massive *** this study,gelatin(GN)and oxidized pectin(OP)were used for Schiff base cross-linking,and then polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)solution mixed with hemostatic caffeic acid(CA)was introduced to obtain aerogel substrate material(CB)after ***(PDMS)and silver nanowires(Ag NWs)were used to construct a hydrophobic layer,an antibacterial layer and an infrared reflective layer on both sides of CB to prepare a multifunctional aerogel wound dressing with heat preservation,antifouling,hemostasis and antibacterial properties(PDMS-Ag NW-CB).The results showed that the infrared transmittance of PDMS-Ag NW-CB is almost 0,so that thermal energy loss from the body is *** contact angles with water and blood are 129°and 120°,respectively,which have the effect of *** dressing can absorb blood quickly within 10 min,adhere to and gather platelets,and achieve *** has good antibacterial and ***,PDMS-Ag NW-CB has great potential in application to emergency treatment.

Molten-salt chemical exfoliation process for preparing two-dimensional mesoporous Si nanosheets as high-rate li-storage anode

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have attracted enormous attention due to their functional applications in energy storage. In this work, a low-temperature molten-salt chemical exfoliation methodology is developed for producing free-standing 2D mesoporous Si through deintercalation of CaSi2 in excess molten AlCl3 at 195 °C. The average dimension of these sheets is 1.5 μm, and the thickness of a single sheet is approximately 10 nm. The as-prepared 2D Si has a Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area of 154 m2·g−1 and an average pore size of 5.87 nm. With this unique structure, the 2D Si exhibits superior li-storage performance, including a reversible capacity of 2,974 mA·h·g−1 at 0.2 C, reversible capacities of 2,162, 1,947, and 1,527 mA·h·g−1 at 0.8, 2, and 5 C after 200 cycles, and a capacity retention of 357 mA·h·g−1 even at 30 C (90 A·g−1).

Detecting slowly moving infrared targets using temporal filtering and association strategy

The special characteristics of slowly moving infrared targets, such as containing only a few pixels,shapeless edge, low signal-to-clutter ratio, and low speed, make their detection rather difficult, especially when immersed in complex backgrounds. To cope with this problem, we propose an effective infrared target detection algorithm based on temporal target detection and association strategy. First, a temporal target detection model is developed to segment the interested targets. This model contains mainly three stages, i.e., temporal filtering,temporal target fusion, and cross-product filtering. Then a graph matching model is presented to associate the targets obtained at different times. The association relies on the motion characteristics and appearance of targets,and the association operation is performed many times to form continuous trajectories which can be used to help disambiguate targets from false alarms caused by random noise or clutter. Experimental results show that the proposed method can detect slowly moving infrared targets in complex backgrounds accurately and robustly, and has superior detection performance in comparison with several recent methods.

Seasonal and spatial variation in species diversity, abundance, and element accumulation capacities of macroalgae in mangrove forests of Zhanjiang, China

The objective of this study was to investigate whether there was distinctive seasonal and zonal variation in the species diversity, biomass, and element accumulation capacities of macroalgae in two major intertidal mangrove stand types （Avicennia marina assemblage andSonneratia apetala assemblage） in the Zhanjiang region of southern China. Over a year, 31 species in 15 genera were identified in both mangrove assem-blages, of which the dominant species wereCladophoropsis zollingeriand Enteromorpha ***-gal species were significantly most abundant in spring （p〈0.05）, followed by summer, winter, and autumn. Variation in the zonal distribution of macroalgal species was conspicuous in both intertidal mangrove as-semblages, with the greatest abundance in the middle zone, and the least in the front zone. Patterns in the seasonal and zonal variation in macroalgal biomass in theS. apetalaassemblage were similar to those of macroalgal species diversity in both mangrove assemblages. The seasonal patterns in tissue concentrations of 15 analyzed elements were not uniform among the macroalgaeC. zollingeri,E. clathrata, andGracilaria salicornia in theA. marina assemblage. All three species exhibited variation in their responses to ambient concentrations of different elements, implying their differential ability to absorb and selectively accumulate certain elements.

Random projection method for ultra wideband signal acquisition

High-speed high-resolution analog-to-digital （A/D） conversion demanded by ultra wideband （UWB） signal processing is a very challenging problem. This paper proposes a parallel random projection method for UWB signal acquisition. The proposed method can achieve high sampling rate, high resolution and technical feasibility of hardware implementation. In the proposed method, an analog UWB signal is projected over a set of random sign functions. Then the low-rate high-resolution analog-to-digital convertors （ADCs） are used to sample the projection coefficients. The signal can be reconstructed by simple linear calculation with the sampling matrix, without complying with optimization algorithm and prior knowledge. In other aspects, unlike other approaches that need to utilize an accurate time-shift at extremely high frequency, or design a hybrid filter bank, or generate specific basis functions or work for signals with prior knowledge, the proposed method is a universal sampling approach and easy to apply. The simulation results of signal to noise ratio （SNR） and spurious-free dynamic range （SFDR） validate the efficiency of the proposed method for UWB signal acquisition.

live microalgal cells modified by L-cys/Au@carbon dots/bilirubin oxidase layers for enhanced oxygen reduction in a membrane-less biofuel cell

Electrochemical oxygen reduced reaction(ORR)is a critical element in clean energy *** efforts to enhance gas transfer to the reaction interface,the low solubility of O_(2)molecules and slow diffusion rate in liquid electrolyte is still a significant ***,we design an artificial outer membrane on microalgal cells,which consists of a carbon dots/bilirubin oxidase(CDs/BOD)ORR catalyst layer and a L-cystine/Au nanoporous O_(2)supply layer.O_(2)generated by photosynthesis from microalgal cells then can be directly transported to the CDs/BOD catalytic interfaces,overcoming the sluggish gas transfer in the ***,the cathode constructed by the fabricated microalgal cells realizes an ORR current density of 655.2μA/cm^(2) with fast ORR kinetics,which is 2.68 times higher than that of a BOD cathode fed with pure O_(2).A membrane-less glucose/O_(2)biofuel cell is further developed using the hybrid artificial cells as the cathode,and the power density is 2.39 times higher than that of a BOD cathode biofuel cell in O_(2)saturated *** biomimetic design supplies O_(2)directly to the carbon dots/BOD catalyst layer from the microalgae membrane through a nanoporous L-cys/Au layer,providing an alternative solution for the transfer barrier of O_(2)in the electrolyte.

Structural evolution of chars from biomass components pyrolysis in a xenon lamp radiation reactor

The structural evolution of the chars from pyrolysis of biomass components （cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin） in a xenon lamp radiation reactor was investigated. The elemental composition analysis showed that the C content increased at the expense of H and O contents during the chars formation. The values of AH/C/ZSO/c for the formation of cellulose and hemicellulose chars were close to 2, indicating that dehydration was the dominant reaction. Meanwhile, the value was more than 3 for lignin char formation, suggesting that the occurrence of demethoxylation was prevalent. FTIR and XRD analyses further disclosed that the cellulose pyrolysis needed to break down the stable crystal structure prior to the severe depolymerization. As for hemicellulose and lignin pyrolysis, the weak branches and linkages decomposed firstly, followed by the major decomposition. After the devolatilization at the main pyrolysis stage, the three components encountered a slow carbonization process to form condensed aromatic chars. The SEM results showed that the three components underwent different devolatilization behaviors, which induced various surface mornhologies of the chars.

Amidoxime-functionalized ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers(UHMWPEF-AO) were used to absorb uranium U(VI) from aqueous *** this paper,we study effects of pH,initial U(VI) concentration,contact time,and temperature on U(VI) adsorption by *** adsorption process agrees well with pseudo-second-order and Langmuir *** exhibits excellent adsorptive performance for U(VI)with a maximum adsorption capacity of 176.12 mg/g at pH4 and 298 *** structures of UHMWPEF-AO and U(VI)-loaded UHMWPEF-AO are characterized by FT-IR and nano-CT.U(VI)-loaded UHMWPEF-AO is sintered after adsorption process to recycle absorbed U(VI).Powders collected after sintering process are examined by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray *** results indicate that UHMWPEF-AO is a promising candidate to remove U(VI) from uranium aqueous solutions.

The critical role of hot carrier cooling in optically excited structural transitions

The hot carrier cooling occurs in most photoexcitation-induced phase transitions(PIPTs),but its role has often been neglected in many theoretical simulations as well as in proposed ***,by including the previously ignored hot carrier cooling in real-time time-dependent density functional theory(rt-TDDFT)simulations,we investigated the role of hot carrier cooling in *** IrTe2 as an example,we reveal that the cooling of hot electrons from the higher energy levels of spatially extended states to the lower energy levels of the localized Ir–Ir dimer antibonding states strengthens remarkably the atomic driving forces and enhances atomic kinetic *** two factors combine to dissolute the Ir–Ir dimers on a timescale near the limit of atomic motions,thus initiating a deterministic kinetic phase *** further demonstrate that the subsequent cooling induces nonradiative recombination of photoexcited electrons and holes,leading to the ultrafast recovery of the Ir–Ir dimers observed *** findings provide a complete picture of the atomic dynamics in optically excited structural phase transitions.
