Metabolic syndrome and gallstone disease

AIM： To investigate the association between metabolic syndrome （NetS） and the development of gallstone disease （GSD）. METHODS： A cross-sectional study was conducted in 7570 subjects （4978 men aged 45.0：1：8.8 years, and 2592 women aged 45.3：1：9.5 years） enrolled from the physical check-up center of the hospital. The subjects included 918 patients with gallstones （653 men and 265 women） and 6652 healthy controls （4325 men and 2327 women） without gallstones. Body mass index （BII）, waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose （FPG） and serum lipids and lipoproteins levels were measured. Colorimetric method was used to measure cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cho- lesterol （HDL-C） and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL-C）. Dextrose oxidizing enzyme method was used to measure FPG. Subjects were asked to complete a questionnaire that enquired about the information on demographic data, age, gender, histories of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and chronic liver disease and so on. Metabolic syndrome was diagnosed according to the Adult Treatment Panel HI （ATP ]3） criteria. Gall- stones were defined by the presence of strong intralu- minal echoes that were gravity-dependent or attenu- ated ultrasound transmission. RESULTS： Among the 7570 subjects, the prevalence of the gallstone disease was 12.1% （13.1% in men and 10.2% in women）. BMI, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose and serum triglyceride （TG） in cases group were higher than in controls, while serum high-density lipid was lower than in controls. There were significant differences in the waist circumference, blood pressure, FPG and TG between cases and controls. In an age- adjusted logistic regression model, metabolic syndrome was associated with gallstone disease. A Prediction of the Excess Partial Molar Free Energies of MgCl_2 in the KCI-MgCl_2-liCl Molten Salt System Containing MgCl_2 below 0.5 from Thermodynamic Properties of Binary Systems

The thermodynamical properties of MgCl_2 in KCI-MgCl_2-liCl molten electrolytes containing MgCl_2 below 0.5 (mole fraction, the same below) have been determined from the interchange energies of two binary systems KCI-MgCl_2 and liCI-MgCl_2, by means of a model on the assumptions that the electrolytes in the solution are treated as independent particles instead of their ion forms and the interchange energy between the component pair KCI-liCl is ignored when compared with those of component pairs KCl-MgCl_2 and MgCl_2-liCl. The interchange energies, wKCl-MgCl_2 and wMgcCl_2-licl, are obtained as-70000 and -13800 ***-1, from the corresponding binary solutions, respectively.

Identification and Gene Mapping of a Novel Mutant supernumerary lodicules(snl) in Rice

In order to gain a better understanding of rice flower development, a rice flower mutant supernumerary Iodicules （snl）, which was identified from ethyl methane sulfonate （EMS）-treated Jinhui10 （Oryza sativa L. ssp. indica） was used in the present study. In the snl mutant, the palea obtained lemma identity, additional glume-like organs formed, Iodicules increased and elongated, stamens decreased, and a few aberrant carpels formed. These phenotypes suggest that SNL is involved in the entire rice flower development. SNL was mapped between two simple sequence repeat markers RM3512 and RM1342 on chromosome 2, an approximate 800 kb region, and it co-segregated with SSR215. We conclude that SNL is a novel gene involved in flower development in rice. The present study will be useful for further cloning of the SNL gene, which will contribute to the elucidation of rice flower development.

Time structure measurement of the SSRF storage ring using TRXEOL method

In order to do alignment between the timing signal and the synchrotron X-ray pulse on the sample spot in the time domain,measuring time structure of the storage ring on the sample spot inside the experimental hutch is a foundational step during the time-resolved experiments using the pulsed synchrotron X-rays with the time structure defined by the storage *** this work,the method of time-resolved X-ray excited optical luminescence(TRXEOL)was designed and implemented to do the *** is based on the principle of time-correlated single photon counting *** measurement system consists of a spectrometer with a detector of photomultiplier tube,a timing system,a set of nuclear instrument modules and a luminescent material of zinc *** measurement was performed on the X-ray absorbed fine structure spectrum beamline at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation *** results show that this method can be used to measure the time structure of the storage ring with a precision of less than 1 *** measurement system can also be used for the time-resolved research for the optical luminescent materials.

Large eddy simulation of flow over a three-dimensional hill with different slope angles

Conditioning treatments mitigate the levels of fecal pollution indicators in soil during land-application of sewage sludge

Sewage sludge is a major source of fecal pathogens in the environment, and its application to land can result in a significant release of these pathogens into the soil. While conditioning treatments are crucial for improving the dewatering process of sludge, their impact on the presence and behavior of fecal pathogens in soil remains unclear. This study aims to assess four extraction methods for recovering fecal pollution indicators from soil amended with unconditioned and conditioned sludge. The indicators include Escherichia coli(EC), human-specific HF183 Bacteroides(HF183), human adenovirus(HAdV), human BK polyomavirus(BKPyV), human JC polyomavirus(JCPyV), and cross-assembly phage(crAssphage). This study also examines how soil moisture content affects the decay of these fecal pollution indicators in soil amended with raw sludge and investigates the influence of conditioning treatments with cationic polyacrylamide(PAM), Fenton's reagents, Fe[Ⅲ]/CaO on their persistence in soil. The results indicated that the direct extraction method was the most effective and unbiased for recovering fecal pollution indicators from sludge-amended soil compared with the three elution-concentration methods. All fecal pollution indicators, except HAdV, remained stable under dry soil conditions, while high soil moisture content(48.39%-53.14%) slowed the decay rates of these indicators. During the application of sludge to soil, effective control of fecal pollution indicators was observed, with JCPyVand HAdV becoming undetectable within a short period. The log reduction values of HF183, BKPyV, and crAssphage ranged from 0.1 to 2.8 logs after 30 d of cultivation. The application of conditioned sludge, especially Fenton's reagent-conditioned sludge, resulted in a reduction in human fecal contamination in the receiving soil. Therefore, implementing appropriate conditioning methods, such as using Fenton's reagent, can effectively mitigate the health risks associated with fecal pathogens.

根据随机介质的思想,土体冻胀引起的地表隆起近似为正态分布。以上海体育场穿越工程为研究背景,由叠加法基本原理,得出多管冻结冻胀叠加法表达式。将非均布的冻胀荷载简化成多段均布荷载,编制matlab程序求解冻土地基上的弹性地基梁方程,得到冻胀与地基梁(结构)相互作用的位移及接触压力,并用实测数据进行了验证。最后对冻胀与基础梁相互作用的影响因素进行计算分析,得出相互作用的冻胀量随地基梁刚度与外荷载增加而减小、随地基弹性接触系数与自由冻胀量增加而增加。
