A new Synbiotic supplementation ameliorates ulcerative colitis via modulating microbial homeostasis， protecting intestinal barrier integrity， and maintaining immunity homeostasis in mice

Ulcerative colitis [UC] is established by a chronic， diffuse inflammation of colonic mucosa with poorly defined etiology， and without sufficient treatment or cure available for remission. In this context， there is a growing recognition and consensus that synbiotic supplement may be promising and impactful strategies towards ameliorating UC and related inflammatory disorders， garnering significant attention from researchers as an alternative therapy. Herein， we innovatively prepared a novel synbiotic combination including Lactobacillus acidophilus， Bifidobacterium infants and prebiotics konjac glucomannan oligosaccharides [KGMO] to explore the potential therapeutic effects in dextran sodium sulfate [DSS] induced UC mouse model. The results demonstrated that the synbiotic effectively improved colitis symptoms in mice by mitigating weight loss， disease activity index [DAI]， colonic pathological damage， and colonic oxidative stress. it also observed that the synbiotic preserve intestinal barrier function integrity， reduces metabolic endotoxemia as well as inhibits the TLR4/NF-κB， NLRP3/Caspase-1， and Nrf2/Keap1 signaling pathway. Furthermore， the synbiotic modulated microbial homeostasis directly by enhancing beneficial microbes and reducing potentially harmful bacteria. In addition， microbiome phenotype prediction and bacterial functional potential prediction analysis demonstrated that the synbiotic supplementation regulated gut microbiota function involving inflammatory injury， metabolism， immune response， and pathopoiesia. Especially， the synbiotic not only restored the balance of Th1/Th2 cells as well as Th17/Treg cells along with specific inflammatory factors expression， but also maintained bile acid homeostasis by regulating FXR/FGF15 signaling pathway. Especially important is that the synbiotic was as effective as mesalazine against UC. Preparation of silver nanoparticles through the reduction of straw-extracted lignin and its antibacterial hydrogel

Silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs)have attracted attention in the field of biomaterials due to their excellent antibacterial ***,the reducing and stabilizing agents used for the chemical reduction of Ag NPs are usually toxic and may cause water *** this work,Ag NPs(31.2 nm in diameter)were prepared using the extract of straw,an agricultural waste,as the reducing and stabilizing *** analysis revealed that the straw extract contained lignin,the structure of which possesses phenolic hydroxyl and methoxy groups that facilitate the reduction of silver salts into Ag *** surfaces of Ag NPs were negatively charged due to the encapsulation of a thin layer of lignin molecules that prevented their *** the prepared Ag NPs were added to the precursor solution of acrylamide,free radical polymerization was triggered without the need for extra heating or light irradiation,resulting in the rapid formation of an Ag NP-polyacrylamide composite *** inhibition zone test proved that the composite hydrogel possessed excellent antibacterial ability due to the presence of Ag *** prepared hydrogel may have potential applications in the fabrication of biomedical materials,such as antibacterial dressings.

Nanostructured ZnO/BiVO_(4)I-scheme heterojunctions for piezocatalytic degradation of organic dyes via harvesting ultrasonic vibration energy

BiVO_(4)porous spheres modified by ZnO were designed and synthesized using a facile two-step *** resulting ZnO/BiVO_(4)composite catalysts have shown remarkable efficiency as piezoelectric catalysts for degrading Rhodamine B(RhB)unde mechanical vibrations,they exhibit superior activity compared to pure *** 40wt%ZnO/BiVO_(4)heterojunction composite displayed the highest activity,along with good stability and *** enhanced piezoelectric catalytic activity can be attributed to the form ation of an I-scheme heterojunction structure,which can effectively inhibit the electron-hole ***,hole(h+)and superoxide radical(·O_(2)^(-))are proved to be the primary active ***,ZnO/BiVO_(4)stands as an efficient and stable piezoelectric catalyst with broad potential application in the field of environmental water pollution treatment.

Phenanthrene perturbs hematopoietic development and causes hematopoietic defects in zebrafish

Phenanthrene(Phe)is one of the common polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the environment,and recent studies show that it can cause cardiac developmental toxicity and ***,it is still unknown whether it can affect the hematopoietic development in aquatic *** address this question,zebrafish(Danio rerio)were chronically exposed to Phe at different *** found that Phe caused structural damage to the renal tubules in the kidney,induced malformed erythrocytes in peripheral blood,and decreased the proportion of myeloid cells in adult zebrafish,suggesting possible negative impacts that Phe posed to hematopoietic ***,using in situ hybridization technology,we found that Phe decreased the expression of primitive hematopoietic marker genes,specifically gata1 and pu.1,accompanied by an obstruction of primitive erythrocyte ***,Phe impaired definitive hematopoiesis,increased aberrations of the transient hematopoietic site(PBI),and reduced the generation of hematopoietic stem cells,ultimately influencing the number of erythrocytes and myeloid *** findings suggested that Phe could induce hematopoietic toxicity in zebrafish embryos and pose unknown ecological risks.

Exchange bias(EB)is a fundamental phenomenon in widespread information ***,a comprehensive understanding of its microscopic origin remains a great *** key issue in the debate is the role of frustration and disorder in the EB mechanism,which motivates the exploration of the EB effect in spin glass(SG)***,in the SG state of Crdoped Hund's metal CsFe_(2)As_(2),we discover a giant EB effect with a maximum bias field of -2 T,which is almost two orders of magnitude larger than that of traditional alloy *** results indicate that the giant EB effect should originate from the exchange interactions at the natural boundaries between the tunable ferromagnetic-like(FM)regions around Cr dopants and the SG matrix,via which the FM spins are strongly pinned by the frozen spins in the SG *** addition,the temperaturedependent and cooling-field-dependent EB behaviors could be interpreted well by the SG model with frustrated FM/SG boundaries,which provides an intuitive and explicit understanding of the impact of glassy parameters on the EB *** these results suggest that the correlated metals are promising directions for exploring the EB effect in the SG state.

Construction of novel spherical ZnIn2S4-Ag-LaFeO3 heterostructures for enhancing photocatalytic efficiency

Herein we report novel photocatalysts ZnIn2S4-Ag-LaFeO3with the core-shell structured materials prepared by hydrothermal *** order to improve the efficiency of photocatalytic degradation of pollutants,LaFeO3was prepared by hydrothermal followed by calcination,and further Ag nanoparticle（NP） was loaded onto the spherical structure of LaFeO3by photolysis of silver nitrate,and finally the spherical Znln2S4-Ag-LaFeO3photocatalyst was prepared by hydrothermal method *** structure and properties of the as-prepared materials were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy and fluorescence *** results show that the synthesized composite photocatalysts display a significant improvement in photocatalytic efficiency relative to the single LaFeO3and ZnIn2S4and form a core-shell ***,the effect of the ratio of each component on the photocatalytic efficiency was investigated in detail,and it is discovered that at an Methylene Blue（MB） concentration of 0.219 mol/L,the degradation rate of MB is 95% at 120 min using 0.02 g of catalyst with an ideal ZnIn2S4:Ag:LaFeO3ratio of 10:0.5:*** possible mechanisms to improve the photocatalytic efficiency were explored.
