Evolution of Diagenetic Fluid of the Dawsonite-Bearing Sandstone in the Jiyang Depression,Eastern China

Based on the petrology,isotope geochemistry and fluid inclusions analysis,we established the evolutionary mode of the diagenetic fluid of dawsonite-bearing sandstone in the Jiyang Depression.Dawsonite-bearing sandstone is characterized by double injection of CO_(2)and oil-gas in the Jiyang Depression that have experienced a relatively complex diagenetic fluid evolution process.The diagenetic sequence of secondary minerals involves secondary enlargement of quartz,kaolinite,first-stage calcite,dawsonite,second-stage calcite,ferrocalcite,dolomite and ankerite.Hydrocarbon charging in the dawsonite-bearing sandstone occurred at around 2.6–0 Myr.The CO_(2)charging event occurred during Dongying tectonism,forming the Pingfangwang CO_(2)gas reservoir,which provided an abundant carbon source for dawsonite precipitation.Carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions of dawsonite demonstrate that CO_(2)forming the dawsonite was of an inorganic origin derived from the mantle,and that water mediating the proc-ess during dawsonite precipitation was sequestered brine with a fluid temperature of 82℃.The evolutionary sequence of the diagenetic fluid in the dawsonite-bearing sandstone was:alkaline syngenetic fluids,weak alkaline fluids during organic acid forma-tion,acidic fluids in the early stage of CO_(2)injection,alkaline fluids in the late stage of CO_(2)injection,and weak alkaline fluids during oil and gas charging.The mode indicates an increase in-HCO_(3)because of the CO_(2)injection,and the loss of Ca^(2+)and Mg^(2+)due to the precipitation of carbonate minerals.Therefore,the evolutionary mode of diagenetic fluids is in good agreement with high HCO_(3)^(-),low Ca^(2+)and low Mg^(2+)composition of the present formation water in the dawsonite-bearing sandstone.

A widely targeted metabolite modificomics strategy for modified metabolites identification in tomato

The structural and functional diversity of plant metabolites is largely created via chemical modification of a basic backbone.However,metabolite modifications in plants have still not been thoroughly investigated by metabolomics approaches.In this study,a widely targeted metabolite modificomics(WTMM)strategy was developed based on ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-linear ion trap(UHPLC-Q-Trap)and UHPLC-Q-Exactive-Orbitrap(UHPLC-QE-Orbitrap),which greatly improved the detection sensitivity and the efficiency of identification of modified metabolites.A metabolite modificomics study was carried out using tomato as a model,and over 34,000 signals with MS2 information were obtained from approximately 232 neutral loss transitions.Unbiased metabolite profiling was also performed by utilizing high-resolution mass spectrometry data to annotate a total of 2,118 metabolites with 125 modification types;of these,165 modified metabolites were identified in this study.Next,the WTMM database was used to assess diseased tomato tissues and 29 biomarkers were analyzed.In summary,the WTMM strategy is not only capable of large-scale detection and quantitative analysis of plant-modified metabolites in plants,but also can be used for plant biomarker development.

Minimally invasive surgery is a kind of surgical operation,which is performed by using professional surgical instruments and equipment to inactivate,resect,repair or reconstruct the pathological changes,deformities and wounds in human body through micro-trauma or micro-approach,in order to achieve the goal of treatment,its surgical effect is equivalent to the traditional open surgery,while avoiding the morbidity of conventional surgical wounds.In addition,it also has the advantages of less trauma,less blood loss during operation,less psychological burden and quick recovery on patients,and these minimally invasive techniques provide unique value for the examination and treatment of gastric cancer patients.Surgical minimally invasive surgical techniques have developed rapidly and offer numerous options for the treatment of early gastric cancer(EGC):endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR),underwater EMR(UEMR),endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD),endoscopic full-thickness resection(EFTR),endoscopic submu-cosal excavation(ESE),submucosal tunnel endoscopic resection,laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery(LECS);Among them,EMR,EFTR and LECS technologies have a wide range of applications and different modific-ations have been derived from their respective surgical operations,such as band-assisted EMR(BA-EMR),conven-tional EMR(CEMR),over-the-scope clip-assisted EFTR,no-touch EFTR,the inverted LECS,closed LECS,and so on.These new and improved minimally invasive surgeries are more precise,specific and effective in treating different types of EGC.

Hemichorea in patients with temporal lobe infarcts: Two case reports

BACKGROUND Hemichorea and other hyperkinetic movement disorders are uncommon present-ations of stroke and are usually secondary to deep infarctions affecting the basal ganglia and thalamus.Therefore,temporal ischemic lesions causing hemichorea are rare.We report the cases of two patients with acute ischemic temporal lobe infarct strokes that presented as hemichorea.CASE SUMMARY Patient 1:An 82-year-old woman presented with a 1-mo history of involuntary movement of the left extremity,which was consistent with hemichorea.Her diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI)revealed an acute ischemic stroke that predominantly affected the right temporal cortex,and magnetic resonance angiography of the head showed significant stenosis of the right middle cerebral artery(MCA).Treatment with 2.5 mg of olanzapine per day was initiated.When she was discharged from the hospital,her symptoms appeared to have improved compared with those previously observed.Twenty-seven days after the first admission,she was readmitted due to acute ischemic stroke.Computed tomogra-phy perfusion showed marked hypoperfusion in the right MCA territory.An emergency transfemoral cerebral angiogram was performed and showed severe stenosis in the M1 segment of the right MCA.After percutaneous transluminal angioplasty was successfully performed,abnormal movements or other neuro-logic problems did not occur.Patient 2:A 76-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for a 7-d history of right-upper-sided involuntary movements.DWI showed an acute patchy ischemic stroke in the left temporal lobe without basal ganglia involvement.Subsequent diffusion tensor imaging confirmed fewer white matter fiber tracts on the left side than on the opposite side.Treatment with 2.5 mg of olanzapine per day improved his condition,and he was discharged.CONCLUSION When acute hemichorea suddenly appears,temporal cortical ischemic stroke should be considered a possible diagnosis.In addition,hemichorea may be a sign of impending cerebral infarction with MCA stenosis.

Effect of Sonic hedgehog gene-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells on graft-induced retinal gliosis and retinal ganglion cells survival in diabetic mice

AIM:To investigate the effects of Sonic hedgehog(Shh)gene-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)on graft-induced retinal gliosis and retinal ganglion cells(RGCs)survival in diabetic mice.METHODS:Bone marrow-derived MSCs were genetically modified with the Shh gene to generate a stably transfected cell line of Shh-modified MSCs(MSC-Shh).Intravitreal injections of MSC-Shh and green fluorescent protein-modified MSCs(MSC-Gfp;control)were administered in diabetic mice.After 4wk,the effects of MSC-Shh on retinal gliosis were evaluated using fundus photography,and markers of gliosis were examined by immunofluorescence and Western blotting.The neurotrophic factors expression and RGCs survival in the host retina were evaluated using Western blotting and immunofluorescence.The mechanisms underlying the effects of MSC-Shh was investigated.RESULTS:A significant reduction of proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR)was observed after intravitreal injection of MSC-Shh compared to MSC-Gfp.Significant downregulation of glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)was demonstrated in the host retina after MSC-Shh administration compared to MSC-Gfp.The extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2(ERK1/2),protein kinase B(AKT)and phosphatidylin-ositol-3-kinase(PI3K)pathways were significantly downregulated after MSC-Shh administration compared to MSC-Gfp.Brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)and ciliary neurotrophic factor(CNTF)levels were significantly increased in the host retina,and RGCs loss was significantly prevented after MSC-Shh administration.CONCLUSION:MSC-Shh administration reduces graft-induced reactive gliosis following intravitreal injection in diabetic mice.The ERK1/2,AKT and PI3K pathways are involved in this process.MSC-Shh also increases the levels of neurotrophic factors in the host retina and promoted RGCs survival in diabetic mice.

Effect of Mn content on microstructure and properties of AlCrCuFeMnx high-entropy alloy

AlCrCuFeMnx(x=0,0.5,1,1.5,and 2)high-entropy alloys were prepared using the vacuum arc melting technology.The microstructure and mechanical properties of AlCrCuFeMnxwere analyzed and tested by XRD,SEM,TEM,nanoindentation,and electronic universal testing.The results indicate that the AlCrCuFeMnxhigh-entropy alloy exhibits a dendritic structure,consisting of dendrites with a BCC structure,interdendrite regions with an FCC structure,and precipitates with an ordered BCC structure that form within the dendrite.Manganese(Mn)has a strong affinity for dendritic,interdendritic,and precipitate structures,allowing it to easily enter these areas.With an increase in Mn content,the size of the precipitated nanoparticles in the dendritic region initially increases and then decreases.Similarly,the area fraction initially decreases and then increases.Additionally,the alloy’s strength and wear resistance decrease,while its plasticity increases.The Al Cr Cu Fe Mn1.5alloy boasts excellent mechanical properties,including a hardness of 360 HV and a wear rate of 2.4×10^(-5)mm^(3)·N^(-1)·mm^(-1).It also exhibits impressive yield strength,compressive strength,and deformation rates of 960 MPa,1,700 MPa,and 27.5%,respectively.

Synthesis of crystalline g-C_(3)N_(4) with rock/molten salts for efficient photocatalysis and piezocatalysis

Graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))is emerging as a promising visible-light photocatalyst while the low crystallinity with sluggish charge separation/migration dynamics signiﬁcantly restricts its practical applications.Currently,synthesizing highly crystalline g-C_(3)N_(4) with sufﬁcient surface activities still remains challenging.Herein,different from using alkali molten salts which is commonly reported,we propose an approach for synthesis of highly crystalline g-C_(3)N_(4) with FeCl3/KCl rock/molten mixed salts.The rock salt can serve as the structure-directing template while molten salt provides the required liquid medium for re-condensation.Intriguingly,the synthesized photocatalyst showed further enhanced crystallinity and improved surface area along with high p/p*excitation compared with crystalline C_(3)N_(4) prepared from conventional molten-salt methods.These catalytically advantageous features lead to its superior photocatalytic and piezocatalytic activities with a high reactivity for overall water splitting that is not commonly reported for C_(3)N_(4).This work provides an effective strategy for structural optimization of organic semiconductor based materials and may inspire new ideas for the design of advanced photocatalysts.

Undifferentiated high-grade pleomorphic sarcoma of the common bile duct:A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma(UPS)is a rare malignant mesenchymal tumor with a poor prognosis.It mainly occurs in the extremities,trunk,head and neck,and retroperitoneum regions.Owing to the lack of specific clinical manifestations and imaging features,UPS diagnosis mainly depends on pathological and immunohistochemical examinations for exclusive diagnosis.Here we report an extremely rare case of high-grade UPS in the common bile duct(CBD).There are limited available data on such cases.CASE SUMMARY A 70-year-old woman was admitted to our department with yellow eyes and urine accompanied by upper abdominal distending pain for 2 wk.Her laboratory data suggested significantly elevated hepatorenal function levels.The imaging data revealed calculous cholecystitis,intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile duct dilation with extrahepatic bile duct calculi,and a space-occupying lesion at the distal CBD.After endoscopic biliary stenting and symptomatic support therapy,CBD exploration and biopsy were performed.The frozen section indicated malignant spindle cell tumor of the CBD mass,and further radical pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed.Finally,the neoplasm was diagnosed as a high-grade UPS combined with the light-microscopic morphology and immunohistochemical results.CONCLUSION This extremely rare case highlighted the need for increasing physicians'vigilance,reducing the odds of misdiagnosis,and providing appropriate treatment strategies.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD)affects approximately 25%of the world's population and has become a leading cause of chronic liver disease.In recent years,an increasing amount of data suggests that MASLD is associated with aging.As the population ages,age-related MASLD will become a major global health problem.Targeting an aging will become a new approach to the treatment of MASLD.This paper reviews the current studies on the role of aging-related factors and therapeutic targets in MASLD,including:Oxidative stress,autophagy,mitochondrial homeostasis,bile acid metabolism homeostasis,and dysbiosis.The aim is to identify effective therapeutic targets for age-related MASLD and its progression.

Towards full-stack deep learning-empowered data processing pipeline for synchrotron tomography experiments

Synchrotron tomography experiments are transitioning into multifunctional,cross-scale,and dynamic characterizations,enabled by new-generation synchrotron light sources and fast developments in beamline instrumentation.However,with the spatial and temporal resolving power entering a new era,this transition generates vast amounts of data,which imposes a significant burden on the data processing end.Today,as a highly accurate and efficient data processing method,deep learning shows great potential to address the big data challenge being encountered at future synchrotron beamlines.In this review,we discuss recent advances employing deep learning at different stages of the synchrotron tomography data processing pipeline.We also highlight how applications in other data-intensive fields,such as medical imaging and electron tomography,can be migrated to synchrotron tomography.Finally,we provide our thoughts on possible challenges and opportunities as well as the outlook,envisioning selected deep learning methods,curated big models,and customized learning strategies,all through an intelligent scheduling solution.
